Worms has been one of the greatest games since my childhood. So for me, this is one of the best bundles I've seen for the Humble Weekly sales. A large chunk of Team 17's game collection is now in one bundle. Even though I already own most of these games, I'll get that first part of the bundle just for Worms Armageddon and Super Frog HD.

Everyone is obviously pointing out the brief half second scene of a marine punching an attack dog as a reference to Battlefield's superiority over Call of Duty. As for me, I'm more interested in the campaign than any kind of attack against another franchise. From what I have seen of the BF4 campaign, it appears significantly better than the previous BF3.

Microsoft's network of servers will be available for free for all game developers.

"One of the benefits of publishing games on Xbox One," Microsoft director of Xbox product planning Albert Penello wrote yesterday on the NeoGAF gaming message board, "ALL game developers get Dedicated Servers, Cloud Processing, and 'storage' (for save games) free."

Good. For the price of xbox live, dedicated servers should be a standard for all games that require them.

The potential impact of cloud computing and dedicated servers on Xbox One games became more clear when the creators of the EA-backed, Respawn-developed Titanfall began talking in June about the benefits they were getting from Microsoft's tech:

"That’s a 7 on 7 game but it felt huge because there’s [extra] AI [soldiers] in there that brings the world to life," Respawn boss Vince Zampella says, referring to the Titanfall bout I'd just seen.

The AI for the grunts is designed to run off of Microsoft's cloud servers, a service that the Xbox One maker is offering to all game creators on the new console. ...

With Zampella there, I sense I can get some answers on whether this cloud stuff is really just hype. I mention I'd seen plenty of games that don't use the cloud rendering tons of characters on screen, though maybe not in multiplayer. "It’s better to do it on the cloud," Zampella said. "It’s more secure. It’s a better experience. It also lets us focus on the experience we’re giving to you, the rendering experience, all that power. The more we can offload the better, because then we can do more locally on your box." In other words, if they calculate the grunt AI remotely, the Xbox One can spend more processing on graphics.

It's not just that.

The cloud servers, Zampalla said, are "dedicated servers so there’s no host advantage. The game spins up fast." No host system has to be bogged down with that grunt AI. "When that’s handled on the cloud, now it’s the same experience, it’s not lagging for you. If I’m the host, and I’m calculating AI on my box or if we’re both calculating AI on our boxes and we have different things..." That wouldn't be good. The cloud helps. To Titanfall's busy multiplayer design, perhaps it's essential.

I think Respawn is still thinking about how CoD plays by using a host system on individual player's systems. If a game is multiplayer and has AI, then that game would require a dedicated server (or a self hosted server like in CoD) for those AI to have the same interaction with everyone playing on that same server. Regardless if the game was for Xbox One, PS4 or PC, they would require a dedicated server system for their multiplayer gaming needs to provide the best quality and experience. It was announced a while back that Xbox One would have dedicated servers for all games and this is a very promising feature. It will ensure that games like Call of Duty will no longer have crappy, self hosted, laggy games. The fact that Xbox One will have these servers free to developers makes the possibility of more exclusives for the console more likely because of the less cost involved with servers. I'm guessing Respawn / EA has a deal with Microsoft to also provide the servers for their PC version. If this is the case, then Titanfall might not make a PS4 release any time soon.
Of course Titanfall is being released by EA and they seem to have plenty of servers to spare, unless they're all going to be dedicated to BF4.
Which is another interesting point. Will EA be using their own servers for the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4? Or will they use the Xbox's. I also wonder how quickly they can roll out updates on the Xbox cloud and if there are any restrictions they wouldn't have to deal with when running their own servers.

Here is the NYCC trailer for the 4th season of Falling Skies.

Hmm, Seems to be some more weirdness. A brain washed creepy school of kids? They might as well be harnessed. Ben went missing, then Hal went missing... hey now its Matt's turn to go missing and be found. How does everyone get separated... again...? Weaver goes crazy... again? I feel like this series is really falling apart. I was hoping for this to be a alien version of Walking Dead, and the first two seasons seemed like they were going in a great direction. Last season had its ups, but more downs... I hope another trailer down the road gives me a reason to want to watch this season, otherwise it seems like cliché and recycled ideas. Pope is one of the better characters, and he is really being wasted.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
