Syfy is finally making more Science Fiction series. They announced multiple new projects to a group of advertisers yesterday at their annual Upfront event. Aside from the highly anticipated Defiance series which will be premiering next Monday, Syfy has been less known for Sci-Fi and has become more focused on wrestling and reality shows. While it does not appear that will be changing, at least they'll be re-embracing the genre that started their network. Here is a list of the new shows with some brief descriptions:

.
I'm glad to see that Ronald D. Moore is working with Syfy again. Considering how amazing Battlestar Galactica turned out, I have high expections for Helix.

I'm surprised they remade Carrie yet again. This does look like good remake and I'm sure I'll watch it, but with the amount of Stephen King novels out there, I'm really surprised that Carrie keeps getting revisited. I would love to see a proper "It" movie, "The Talisman", "Insomnia" or especially "The Dark Tower".

Based on online document leaks from last June and a Microsoft employee spilling the beans about internet requirements for the new system on Twitter a couple days ago, it seems as though the next Xbox console (Xbox 720?) will require an always online internet connection. This online connection would most likely be needed to initially load games and applications in the console. Even though always online connectivity is very common in a large majority of households, this could anger quite a few gamers.
I suppose if my internet provider had an issue and my connection dropped out, I'd have to keep myself entertained by playing games on my PC, phone.. or anything other gaming platforms besides Microsoft's new console.
Of course, my internet has only gone out once in the past year, so I doubt I'll have any problems.
But we'll have to wait until Microsoft officially unveils the new console to see if this is true. Do you think this always online requirement could potentially hurt the new system?

Disney has announced that it will be laying off 150 employees and closing the doors to its newly acquired gaming studio LucasArts. The decision was based on Disney's desire to licenses rights out to external developers to avoid the burden of failed projects. The games StarWars 1313 and First Assault have been cancelled and are assumed to all but dead. Disney has claimed that efforts to pitch 1313 to other developers have failed.

Since Disney purchased Lucasfilms back in October of last year, they have been fast at work to get their newly acquired properties back into the theaters. Disney surprised everyone a few months ago with the announcement of a new Star Wars movie. And even more surprising was that they are getting the original actors to reprise their roles in the sequels. (See Harrison Ford to Return as Han Solo!)
But it looks like this is a pattern Disney will copy for another lesser known Lucasfilms movie.
Willow 2 is apparently in the works! In an accidental press release, it was confirmed that Val Kilmer (Madmartigan) and Warwick Davis (Willow Ufgood) will be reprising their roles from the classic adventure / fantasy movie.

(Imagine the walker bodies are gone and corn is growing everywhere.)
The Walking Dead is set to start filming the much anticipated Season 4 in may. Since that is only a month away, an anonymous insider with their hands on the first episode has already leaked some unsettling information online.

Wow. This does not sound like a good season... I guess AMC should have worked harder to keep show runner, Glen Mazzara on the team.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
