Ladywriter 7,783 Report post Posted March 26, 2010 Sarah Palin's Alaska series to appear on TLC network Network owner Discovery Communications has announced that it had acquired rights to the eight-part series - called 'Sarah Alaska' - about her home state. wow.... the LEARNING channel? wow... this is going over like a lead turd with viewers. Ppl are faning their facebook page just to get on there and bitch. They're posting phone numbers of where to call and bitch etc... Palin is anti enviro climate change denying creationist dumb as a brick hate monger...and intelligent people know that. She's a really tasteless joke that has gone too far. We want her to stfu and gtfo not get a show on the LEARNING channel. I luv Alaska but I hate that bitch and wont give her a second of ratings or her sponsors a dime. They will lose a huge audience (so will their sister stations) if they follow through with this. Its going to put the shows sponsors in a bad spot with their customer base as well (look at all the sponsors Beck has lost cuz he's a fuckin loony toon) I suspect this isn't going to happen. People who watch these channels don't want to see her fucking ass. She has not been kind to Alaska or its people. The nature and universe shows are a pleasant distraction away from politics. Viewers are likely gonna blow up their fb and email as they hear about this big fuckin mistake. petition give me a break Quote Look at the flowers

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 Its like the octo mom, once everyone is finally bored with knowing everything about her, she'll be dumped to the curb. In the mean time, TLC and other companies are just cashing in on her popularity by causing more controversy. Even if TLC doesn't give her a show, they'll probably make a decent chunk of cash from all the people going to their site just to complain. Its a win win for TLC, they get all the anti-sarah people to their website, and if they do give her a show, then they'll get the second rush of sarah fans... and if they don't give her a show, enough people all around will have checked out their network of channels and they'll get some new fans either way. I hate these companies, because it just spreads Palin's name around even more like throwing gas on a fire.
Ladywriter 7,783 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 I don't think this mistake or the publicity is good for them at all. In general its intelligent people- people who understand that earth is 4+billion years old not 6 thousand- that patronize these channels. When we stop watching they'll be screwed. Ignorant hicks may watch Palin but the dozens of other shows wont be getting ratings because of her 1 show offending so many. DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 TLC is garbage anyways. I stopped watching it years ago. Its a documentary channel without the documentaries... much like MTV is a music channel without music. Just don't watch it, the people that will give this show ratings are the ones that don't want her on there, so they watch it just to criticize it, and give it all the ratings and advertisement dollars... giving her money do to other things. Glenn Beck is a media powerhouse because of the people that hate him. Here is the best example... ever notice that on all reality TV shows, the biggest douche bag that didn't win goes on to do multiple cameos, commercials, magazine covers, talk shows... and overall probably ends up making more money than the winner. The winner gets a mag cover, a talk show apperance... and you never hear from them again... Hate sells. Just don't watch it. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Ladywriter 7,783 Report post Posted May 8, 2010 Discovery Communications is feeling the pressure. On Wednesday, we hand-delivered the signatures of more than 234,000 CREDO Action members to Discovery Communications. And since Monday, more than 4,500 CREDO Action members have jammed Discovery's phone lines with calls opposing their decision to run Sarah Palin's show. Together with our friends at Defenders of Wildlife -- who have also sent hundreds of thousands of signatures and thousands of calls -- we have forced Discovery to listen. The company released this statement in light of our pressure: "The program will be character driven and centered around Sarah Palin and the pioneering people who make up our 49th state. There will be no politics, policy or advocacy associated with this program. It is not a nature documentary, a travelogue nor will it endorse any natural resource or wildlife management policies." They don't get it. Sarah Palin is a politician -- and there is no way to separate her political life from her TV show. Any platform that allows Sarah Palin to promote a green message sacrifices the integrity of the Discovery brand. It also helps Palin prepare for a 2012 presidential run and adds $2 million to her personal fortune. We must keep the pressure on. Here are two ways you can help: 1. Get us to 5,000 calls. If you haven't made a call yet, please do so at your next available moment between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. Click here for a number to call and a sample script. http://act.credoaction.com/r/?r=5537&id=9052-1999172-x4cFrsx&t=6 2. Get us to 250,000 signatures. Spread the word to your friends, family, and coworkers.
