Game bundles.... so many game bundles...

Recommended Posts

As many of you know there are a variety of game bundles out there.. most of them available for steam. Some of these bundles are good for making new indie games known or for getting some quality games for dirt cheap. At first, many of the bundles were great.. $1 and you can get 8 games. Now many of them require a minimum purchase price to get the games while others are still set so you can the majority of the games for $1 and then pay a minimum average to unlock the rest of the games. The following links are the websites I check for these bundles.

First off, this is the main website I check on occasion for info on new game bundles or reviews of games included in those bundles:

http://indiegames.com/

And here are the bundle sites that I know of:

http://www.humblebundle.com/

($1 minimum for the main set of games, pay more than average purchase for the rest of the games)

http://www.indiegala.com/

($1 minimum for the main set of games, pay more than average purchase for the rest of the games) - I bought their current bundle because of the Worms games!

http://www.indieroyale.com/

(minimum purchase listed)

http://groupees.com/

(currently no sale, but check out their previous ones: http://groupees.com/archive)

Many of these bundles were really good when they first started.. pretty much everything was $1 for 8 games. Now that they've been doing these for a year+ now there are minimum purchase prices and some less desirable bundles of lower quality games.

Have any of you purchased any bundles from these sites before? And also, if you know of any more bundle sites, please share the link.

I've never purchased a bundle, but I do know that thanks to the trend that Money Whore Call of Duty set, every blockbuster game has a Season Pass/Limited Edition/Elite/Premium that wants you to pay $30-50 more to get all the DLC early and at a discounted rate. Most of the time you only save $10, Borderlands 2 you actually save half the price of all the DLC that is planned for it.

Well, I don't mind the entire game bundles for $1. But the trend of having so many dlcs that they have to be bundled is pretty damn ridiculous. Or the fact that the amount of money it would cost for all the dlc for a game is the same price of the game or even more is pretty bullshit when the games cost $60.

I did notice that a game I'm going to buy "Worms Revolution" is coming out for $15. And of course even they have a season pass for 4 dlcs for $15. Normally tho, I would think a game like worms would probably cost $20 new.. so its not too bad that it would cost $30 total because of the lower price of the initial game. But paying $100+ for games with dlc is a trend I don't like in the slightest. I payed for it for Battlefield 3, but thats only because I play the hell out of that particular game with over 160 hours of gameplay already.. With the price of dlcs now I'm more interested in putting my money and gameplay into only a few games and then waiting a year or so for game of the year editions at a hugely discounted rate.

Every once in a while I'll come across free games for PC that look really good. Anyone can feel free to update this topic with limited time free game links so we can add them to our ever growing backlog of games. If a game states how long it will be free for, please list that along with the link. Sometimes it won't be stated so if you click a link and its no longer free, then that promo must have expired. I've seen alot of free game listings off slickdeals or other blogs. I'll update this when I see good ones. I would post the free games with Amazon Prime, but I don't currently have amazon prime so if those appeal to anyone, feel free to post them since Amazon Prime generally gives away a couple free games a month.
      To start off with:
Little Nightmares is currently free with a Steam promotion until 05/30/2021 @ 10:00am (does not say if EDT, PDT, etc. )

Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault - Limited Free Promotional Package, free for this weekend or until 05/31/2021? It doesn't say exact day it ends.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.

Am I the only one suffering from steam sale fatigue? Maybe its just me but ever since they changed the store to the design it is now nothing in the store appeals to me anymore. Its probably because of the massive influx of every game from every independent developer. Theres so many games on there that I never look at what new games came out anymore because in any given week 40+ new games were released and 250+ games are listed in their weekly sales. I stopped looking and only pay attention to humble bundle sales now. Even with the steam sale going on now I don't see any huge sale thats leaping out at me to take my money anymore. Sure I still have a backlog of games but there seems to be less and less new AAA or indie games that I'm interested in for PC. Unless its a game I want for console I hardly look at the steam store anymore even though I use steam on a daily basis.

Powered by the same GPU as the Nvidia Shield and a couple smart phones and chromebooks, (and not as powerful as current gen consoles or even close to gaming PCs), the Nintendo NX will use the Nvidia Tegra as a GPU/CPU combo for a handheld console with detachable controllers. It will also come with a home base that you can plug into to play the console on the TV. It will still play cartridges.
My guess is that it will look like the Wii U controller, except with detachable nunchuck controllers on the sides. I would photoshop something to look like that but I need a new photo editing program. ehh.

The Tegra is a decent chip, but I don't see Nintendo competing with Sony or Microsoft at this point anymore. Its like they are doubling down on their handheld market, which makes sense to me. They know how to make good handhelds and they sell. But if this is all true it seems a bit too gimmicky to me. The Wii and Wii U was all targeted at families and party games, but this is obviously targeted toward individuals and solo players. If the screen is the normal size of a cell phone and its meant to run games all the time, I wonder how hot the thing will get and if it'll need to be recharged every 2 hours.
