Battlefield 3 End Game DLC and Air Superiority

The new Battlefield 3 DLC is coming out in March and after watching these two videos I am really looking forward to it! The new motorcycles look great and the new Air Superiority has really grabbed my attention. One of the things I've noticed is that the map shown on the air superiority video does not have any ground troops. No stinger missiles and plenty of wind turbines to break heat seeker lock-ons. Sounds like a good jet map to me. Hopefully with so many jets in the air it will be an enjoyable game mode with no one-sided BS. *crosses fingers*0

After looking at the video again it looks like there is a base camp, probably where all the jets launch out from. I'm hoping that the base camps will have some stationary AA to prevent spawn raping and that the base camp is the only accessible locations for ground troops so stingers could be used there to prevent more spawn deaths. I found this video breakdown of the trailer:

The zeppelins are the capture points, and it looks like 8 vs 8 jets. If there are no 2 seat jets introduced into this game mode, then for 12 vs 12 to work, there might be stationary AAs.. but even then I would think there would be ppl waiting for jets. I highly doubt there would be any helicopters with that many jets. They would get shredded way too quick. I could only imagine some ridiculous PC version with 60 + jets flying around slamming into each other constantly. :P I hope they don't make the game mode 8 vs 8 like close quarters. Close quarters is fun, but unless you go to the server browser specifically for it, you'll never find those matches in a random map rotation because it would result in kicking players off the server when they come up. Its one of the few flaws with that DLC that shouldn't be repeated with any others.

BF3 Capture the Flag details revealed.

The mission in Capture the Flag might sound deceptively simple: Hike from your starting base to the enemy base and capture their flag, then bring it home to score a point. The only problem is the enemy is trying to do the same to you – and if your own flag is no longer at your base, you are not allowed to score. This calls for a well-balanced mix of defense and lightning quick offense if you are to have a chance at scoring at all.

Capturing a flag is instantaneous. Just run over it to snatch it, then make it back home to score. Recovering your own flag that an enemy has dropped is not so simple, though. Rather, it is similar to how you would capture a base in Conquest. There’s a timer ticking down once you are within capture radius, and the time it takes to recover the flag is directly affected by how many friendly soldiers you have in the flag’s capture radius. Once it’s recovered, it will be automatically placed back home in your base again.

Once you’ve captured the enemy flag, it’s carried on the back of your infantry soldier or attached to your vehicle. While we love the fast and agile dirt bike, you will always have to weigh its speed against its low safety against enemy fire. If you would prefer a slower but more armored ride home, we’d recommend a jeep or tank instead – but whatever ride you choose, you will always be asked to make that judgment call whether speed or armor is your top priority at any given time.

Gameplay-wise, Capture the Flag is highly dynamic with exactly two hot spots that can change at any time: The position of your home flag and the position of the enemy flag. For example, there’s no reason at all to hang back at your base if your own flag isn’t there anymore. You either protect your flag, snatch it back, or grab the enemy flag. Those are the only strategically sound actions you can take in a round of Capture the Flag. Coupled with the mobile nature of both flags, this means that firefights can suddenly erupt anywhere across the map and then suddenly change location again.

Capture the flag sounds like it will be difficult. But its interesting that you don't need to kill an enemy to re-capture your own flag.

*replies again*

This new DLC will be out this upcoming tuesday for PS3 premium members.. and based off this new trophy:

Heavy Lifter:

Kill an enemy after successfully paradropping an IFV

It looks like the new gunship will be a spawn point for paradropping IFVs! You'd think they'd have posted a teaser video for that! This sounds like it will be a great DLC! :D
