Xbox One Release Date is November.. 8th?

Recommended Posts

It is still unconfirmed for now, but all indications point to a November 8th release date for the new Xbox One console. There are some marketing company images going around the internet showing November 8th as the release date. If its true, then the Xbox One will release a full week earlier than the PS4. After checking Xbox's official site, it appears that November is the confirmed month, but no exact date is mentioned.

I was waiting for this. They were waiting for Sony to announce their release date so they could try to one up them on the day. Now the pressing question: Is this why MS delayed consoles in all other markets just to allocate what they have to the North American Market? Are they banking that Sony will run out fast and they will still have a NA supply, or are they bulking up so they can make it all week without running out before PS4 comes out. Its a dangerous move if its the latter... If they run out and then PS4 comes out, People will likely give their money to Sony if they have to wait until after Christmas to get an X1... especially the Christmas shoppers buying for their kids.

Further more, If Xbox releases before PS4, I'm sure this will piss off everyone in the markets where it was delayed. Who knows how they will react to an American company discriminating against their markets to favor their own.

I was talking to my brother about this possibility yesterday and he made a very valid point.. He thinks the Xbox One will sell out completely. Every available unit will sell. His reasoning is that because MS took off the region lock, everyone will buy the Xbox One and ebay the hell out of them to all those people in the delayed countries. As long as the people in those countries have the right power adapters, they can get an xbox one far earlier than whatever release date Microsoft has planned. And because there were plenty of countries in that delay list that speak english, I'd have to agree with him.. I think the Xbox will sell out. But its not going to go the way MS wants it.. the market will be deprived of Xbox Ones and the people profiting will be the ebay sellers marking up the price to whatever they can sell it for.

I'm guessing they were going to have a supply issue, so to cover their asses they're delaying the release in other countries to make sure their supply doesn't run out. It happened when the PS3 came out.. nobody could buy one because they couldn't build them fast enough. If anything it caused more people to buy the Xbox 360.. that availability and lower price helped Xbox get an advantage over PS3. But now the tables are turned and MS is having more PR issues.

Localization issues could be plausible.. different countries with different languages and the Kinect's voice recognition probably needs some fine tuning.. but if thats the case, then it makes me think they were not ready to release the system altogether. Maybe if MS didn't make all those numerous changes since their first reveal, this wouldn't be an issue for them.

      https://blog.playstation.com/2022/03/29/all-new-playstation-plus-launches-in-june-with-700-games-and-more-value-than-ever/
PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now are merging into the new PlayStation Plus and the membership will now become a tiered system:

I'll be sticking with PlayStation Plus Essential assuming I can still buy yearly memberships on sale for around $30-$40 like I've been doing since before the PS4 launched. I'm barely getting any use out of PS+ as it is with the games they've been offering for the last year so if I have to start paying a monthly fee I'll just cancel it instead.
In comparison to the PS+ Extra, I've recently used Xbox PC game pass which I got a 3 month trial for $1 on black friday weekend last year. I don't have an Xbox so I was only using the lowest tier of the PC version which I suppose is the Microsoft Xbox PC version of PlayStation Plus Extra. It is an ok service but with the amount of time I have to dedicate to gaming I was only able to play and beat 2 games in those 3 months. I'm glad the xbox pc game pass came with EA Access since I was able to play and beat Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. EA Access itself didn't appeal to me because on the PC game pass its basically 70% sports titles. I was also able to play and beat Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and that game wasn't nearly as good as the first. Both games retail for around $14 and $7 when on sale so I saved roughly $20 with my $1 free trial. But if it was to pay $10 a month for the service I would have been in the hole $9 compared to if I bought those 2 games instead. For me and my available time to play games a subscription service is not a savings to me. Theres alot of people that could benefit from a game subscription service and I'm glad its an option for them.
I will say tho, for people that have an Xbox console and a game subscription service is beneficial to them, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has console and pc game pass combined along with xbox games with gold free monthly games, and that is a far better deal that PlayStation Plus Deluxe for the same price of $14.99 a month. The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes console and pc games that can be played from the cloud too kind of like Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming.

Steam has made its own hand held game console. It can be used as a handheld or docked to a tv like the Nintendo Switch. Honestly, this looks like a solid hand held. Everyone that does PC gaming has a steam account and most likely alot of games already in their library.
There are three versions: $399, $529 & $649 depending on the internal storage. Its shipping December of 2021.

      The hardware looks great too:

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

I haven't been following Xbox products and I was surprised to see this one. I thought it was the new upgraded Xbox.. it is but it isn't. It's basically the Xbox One Slim. Its 40% smaller, larger hard drive, 4k bluray player and HDR video. Theres still another upgraded Xbox coming out in the near future that should allow 4k gameplay. This slim version is what I envisioned the initial Xbox One would have been. But instead they released that mandatory camera system with it and refused to make bluray movies play on the system unless you download an app. Probably because sony owns bluray tech. The Xbox One S came out just yesterday and now I'm wondering how much longer it'll be before we see a PS4 slim and if it'll have extra features.
