Strider Hiryu 2,704 Report post Posted February 12, 2017 I'm probably going to be in the minority on this but I'm not overly impressed with what we're getting in this DLC. While the maps sound fun and look to be fun as hell the weapons are extremely disappointing imo (I know nothing of their real life counterparts but the LMG sounds shitty based on the info Level gave in his video, the Assaults new weapon sounds okay, the Scouts could be good but honestly won't know until we get stats, and the Medics weapon doesn't sound overly bad but who knows. The new pistol seems like it's going to be a new tanker/pilot weapon and the new melee weapons are meh except for the sword dagger thing), I'm not liking the sounds of the new Elite class (yay, more grenade spam. Just what BF1 needed was more grenade spam), the new Behemoth is about the only real thing I'm interested in (I hope its completely controllable and not set on rails, we really need a behemoth that can actually doing something more then be a bullet sponge), and while I'm happy we're getting two new operations I sense I'm going to get sick of them within a week of playing them. My only real hope is that this ribbon system goes into effect and adds some progression to this game (not much sadly but more then we got now). Sadly I have a feeling BF1 is going to be sitting on my HDD taking up space until the second DLC comes along. I hate to say it but I'm just not feeling the BF1 anymore, really thinking about going back to BF4 and deleting BF1 to make room for more games (like Horizon and ME). 2 DeathscytheX and Sledgstone reacted to this
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 12, 2017 The Chauchat (French LMG) was shit in real life. It was notorious for jamming because dirt would get in its open air mag feed. Now that I have a steady team I play Overwatch with, this game has taken a back seat. I love battlefield and the game itself is fun to a degree. But you're right about the nade spam, which I can deal with until is gas spam. Hilariously the biggest issue with the game is the hard counter to the most abundant elite class. BF1, and Operations in general is a lot less forgiving when your team is full of morons. People opening doors when they shouldn't, picking wrong vehicles for situations. That tank Behemoth is going to be super OP... not because it's actually OP, but because no one takes out tanks to begin with, so I don't see anyone being bothered to take a more beastly one down. Sucks for the few people like me that would swap to assault just to get rid of a tank. Maybe I'm just getting old and impatient with other players, because its affecting me in just about every game I play these days. Even my beloved GW2 when people are just pressing auto attack and expecting to get carried to victory by my guild, and then blames my guild when we failed the hardest world boss in the damn game because they can't be bothered to learn basic DPS rotations for their class, join teamspeak just to fucking listen, no one is asking anyone to talk, or read simple instructions in map chat between burn phases. Shit, I even learned how to be a decent Lucio in Overwatch because I got tired of people skating around not spamming heal off CD during team battles and pushes. I've even been getting in some Genji lately. This is probably one of the main reasons I'm looking forward to the onslaught of epic single player games coming out the next few weeks. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted February 12, 2017 I still haven't bought premium and I don't know if I'm going to or not. I want to enjoy this but I haven't been feeling it. Maybe the ribbons system will fix some things, but the no assignments is still the biggest downer for me. I feel you Strider. I'd rather turn on BF4 and enjoy some amazing rounds of domination than turn on BF1 in the same game mode just to have the entire match go one sided because somebody picks up an elite kit. They need to remove elite kits from all game modes outside of conquest and operations for me to enjoy those game modes. Until then its only conquest and operations for me and I just haven't been motivated to turn the game on since I have no goals for it except for mindlessly killing and hoping I got on a team that will actually win. Meanwhile I can turn on Tomb Raider and upgrade my weapons or turn on Guild Wars 2 and put more time in for another legendary. At this point I could still turn on BF4 and work towards unlocking 20 more weapons to try out.. but in BF1 there is no long term goals except reaching level 10 on each class to unlock a gun I'll never use or possibly getting ribbons that give me bonus xp which only benefits me getting to level 10... to get those guns I won't use. ehh. DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 15, 2017 https://www.vg247.com/2017/02/14/battlefield-1-winter-update-full-patch-notes-revealed-include-gas-and-suppression-nerf-slight-martini-henry-buff-more/ A lot of stuff that doesn't do much. The most notables is that the BAR Storm, Hellriegle, and Automatico Trench all got 14% recoil increases.. WTF? Thats a lot. I'll agree that the Automatico needed a nerf because you could hipfire laser someone from a long distance, but why even have the Storm variant of the BAR now? The Hellriegle already had one recoil increase. Gas duration got nerfed from 22 seconds to 15 seconds. It literally does nothing to address the problem. People still have 2 nades. The Autoloader and Cie got super tiny recoil decreases. Making Assault SMGS worse just makes people use shotguns more or not play assault at all. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted February 15, 2017 Quote Fixed errors where Elite Kits had unintentionally high health regeneration delays and carried too many grenades. Ummm.. I thought Elite kits weren't supposed to regenerate health. I bet these things will be even more beastly in small game modes now.
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 15, 2017 They did, they were just absurdly long. Like 60 seconds what it felt like. When I got my hands on a kit I would often sit in a corner until my HP came back. It regened a lot slower to when it started back up. I just figured that was intended. Elite kit don't belong in small game modes, but if they kept them in, they shouldn't have HP regen in those modes. The Sentry class really isn't that good unless its the double automatico on ballroom blitz or Suez in the town parts. The fact that gas spam is so bad makes this class the weakest of the 3, and its the most readily available. I've beaten them head to head on several occasions by shredding their kneecaps with an SMG/Sweeper or just blasting them away with the Model 10. This is a kit that actually needs a medic escort feeding him first aid. I kept a friend alive once doing this and he went on a 40 person kill streak. I'd occasionally come back in as a support to resupply and then go back to medic on my next death. The Flame Trooper kit is by far the most powerful in close quarters to medium range. If you are in a choke point with this bastard, you're done. And you have more than ample ability to hide behind your flames and leave enough fire to discourage someone to chase you down. Plus the flamethrower obstucts enemy's visual ability to get a headshot on you much less hit you reliably. This certainly does not belong in small game modes more than any other class becasue he's pretty much bullshit in the right hands. This is the only kit I've gone on a massive spree with and stayed alive for most of a match. Gas nades have zero effect on him as well adding to his strength. Its totally worth retreating and waiting for your HP to come back... how he'll be even stronger. The Tank Hunter has really nice balance. You can snipe Martini-Henry style, you can crush planes, and you can pressure tanks. The sawed off shotgun is monstrous if you get in a pinch when someone gets too close. This kit isn't featured enough IMO. The maps and areas of the maps the kit shows up are the least advantageous as well. I mean, do we really need a Tank Hunter on Monte Grappa right when there is only 2 more sectors to defend? It could have been at the start of the map and have been way more helpful defending sector 2's open aired objectives that pretty much always get steam rolled by heavy tanks. The windmills on SQScar? Really? The round is almost over now, could have used it 2 sectors ago. Meanwhile Flame Trooper gets to enjoy torching bunkers on Argonne... I'm surprised they didn't toss in a tank hunter for shits and giggles on that map. Sentry appears at opportune times on Ballroom blitz where you can send suppressive fire down long hallways. Tank Hunter? Mostly at the end of rounds on Operations when you need to be bunkering down and holding objectives, and fighting for your life. Maybe it has better placement on Conquest, but c'mon.... conquest is terrible on this game. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 23, 2017 All of these weapons look really good, the RSC and Ribeyrolles especially, but its hard to get excited when they'll all get nerfed down the road. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 26, 2017 I can see the Chauchat being nerfed pretty fast. Its pretty horrible for everyone that doesn't have the DLC to get mowed down by the best LMG in the game that they dont have access too. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
Strider Hiryu 2,704 Report post Posted February 26, 2017 I still don't like that fire rate on the Chauchat, it's too fucking slow compared to the other LMG's and it's clip size leaves a lot to be desired (though watching the video in your above post does make it seem extremely powerful). I like how the RSC looks and fires so I might just have to jump back on to try it out when the DLC hits but sadly I still don't think it's going to be enough to keep me playing longer then a few days (I mean the timing of this DLC sucks no matter how you look at it, they should of released it sooner). DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted February 26, 2017 These are my thoughts as well. I want to say something similar happened with BF4. They should have had DLC in Jan-Feb. Too much is going on in the gaming world right now. I saw they are toning down the nade spam as well, but that statistics that westie showed in his videos still didn't impress me. Gas still resupplies the fastest and you still get 2 nades. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted February 27, 2017 I finally got around to watching these vids. That sjogren auto shotgun is going to rule domination completely. I still haven't bought the premium pass and I don't know if I will or not. Both of my brothers bought it, but if I was to drop $50 right now I'd rather buy Horizon Zero Dawn.
Strider Hiryu 2,704 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 So I decided (since I'm sicker than a dog and don't have the required frame of mind for Horizon) to try out the DLC tonight. I did the two new operations hoping to get to see all the maps (no surprise that I didn't). My thoughts: -As far as I can tell both Operations are Defender friendly as I was attacking both times. Verdun more so then Soisson (SP?) as the defenders have a huge terrain advantage once you get past the first set of objectives (not kidding you, they have the high ground making it damn near impossible to push as an attacker). Soisson is actually pretty attacker friendly until the last objective and even though it's a tank heavy map its damn near impossible for the attacking side to cap it (completely open with trenches giving assault players on the defending side plenty of cover). Really wish I could of seen the other two maps but as usual DICE seems to heavily favor the defending side. -The new Behemoth is kind of a joke as it's pretty much an extremely slow moving heavy tank with bigger guns. Both times we got in on the attacking side on Soisson it went down in a little under 3 minutes having no effect on the tide of the battle. If I had to rank it against the other Behemoths is tied in dead last with the train as useless. Of course this could of been the driver both times but to me it just seems to be an extremely useless heavy tank with on less seat. -I'm sure most know this already if you watch any of the major BF youtubers but the new weapons are locked behind something similar to assignments but not as in depth as they were in BF3. You basically have to accomplish two tasks for each variant of the new guns. I absolutely hate this as it forces you to use guns and gadgets I hate just to unlock something (though I will admit I'm becoming a fan of the Lewis Gun now that I need to use it for the Low Weight version of the new LMG). Each gun has two variants except for the assault weapons as there are two of them (the shotgun and the ribeyrolles). -You will be happy to know that you can only carry one gas grenade now (as well as one smoke). In the two matches I played I rarely saw gas being used, it's mostly frags/sticks/impacts now. There is still grenade spam but it's not as bad as it was prior to the DLC. They've also added an exchange to the Battlepack system allowing you to buy past skins for scrap. You're limited to four and it's one of each quality type as well as a vehicle skin (which I did happen to get the new Legendary skin for the Artillery truck tonight in the battlepack I was given for March) that DICE has chosen, it resets every week (I warn you the scrap costs are pretty ridiculous). All in all I find it rather meh. I still think DICE should of released this in December/January for what feels like an extreme lack of content. I did have fun playing tonight but honestly its not enough to keep me playing beyond once in a blue moon when I get bored. Quite frankly if you're not already a Premium member I wouldn't pick the DLC up, it's not worth the money you would pay and it's definitely not worth buying Premium for. 2 Sledgstone and DeathscytheX reacted to this

DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Yeah I read that the new assault weapon is locked behind getting headshots with the MP18. Wtf? The last round has to hit the head too as if that gun is stable at all. The rest of the assignments sound easy enough for the other guns. This on the other hand is bullshit... I'd rather get 300 kills than 20 head shots with a weapon not designed to kill via head shots. Head shots for a scout weapon or a medic weapon makes sense... not fucking assault unless its the automatico and then I can give some leeway. Someone at DICE gets off on putting in some stupidly absurd requirement for at least one assignment which makes to sense, and isn't rewarding. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 I watched this video the other day and it pretty much describes my own opinions of the game. Missing easy kills in this game is what made me burned out on it quick. It's because of bullet deviation penalty and the way suppression affects sniper rifles. For my play style of primarily sniping I just can't enjoy the game like I did with bf4. Sure I can still get plenty of headshots but the amount of shots that miss when my crosshairs are right on my target infuriate me. It sounds like those assignment equivalents in the new dlc are a step in the right direction for me except for that headshot requirement. Good luck with that. X_x I still can't bring myself to buy premium when I hardly touch the game as it is. I'll pass on this dlc and wait for the next or even wait for premium to go on sale.
Strider Hiryu 2,704 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 I honestly don't think the MP18 headshot requirement for the Ribeyrolles is that bad. Out of all the SMG's it's the most stable but sadly you have to use the Factory version to do it (which will make it a thousand times worse). Sadly I'll never get either version of the the assault weapons as I don't play assault enough (and the shotgun one requires you to use Slug variant of the Model-10), then again I probably won't get any of them as I probably won't play much. I hope the Russian DLC is good because this one is just lackluster as all hell. I will say this the addition of ribbons has made it a lot easier to level up your classes now. I got one and a half levels on my Support class done in just those two games.
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted August 18, 2017 I've been playing BF1 this week and it is so much better than it was. If this game was like this at launch it would have probably hooked me completely. I still haven't bought premium yet but I am contemplating it now. The improvements to this game along with changing this one setting has made all the difference for me: With this setting, sniping gameplay is actually exactly like BF4 in terms of camera movement. It made a significant difference for me. One of my brothers prefers the BF1 style and his game play shows that hes better with it, but I needed this setting changed. Much more enjoyable now. Onto the changes I've seen in the core game: - No more gas grenade spam. They finally did it. I stopped using gas grenades even before I quit playing months ago, but I've played 6 rounds of conquest this week and only had to put my gas mask on once. And the best improvement.. friendly gas no longer affects you. At first I thought I didn't realize what was happening when I saw the gas around me. Since it is always accompanied by damage indicators and the screen flashing damage at me I didn't realize it was 'friendly gas'. Your own gas will still damage you. They also must have changed the sensitivity on the gas mask up d-pad button because I did not accidentally put on my gas mask once. - No more RNG battlepacks. You get a bar indicating progress you've made towards your next battlepack and each game you play fills that bar up. I got a battlepack twice this week and knowing that you're guaranteed to get one is a hell of a lot more rewarding to me that throwing virtual dice in the background of a loading screen. - Daily scrap rewards. You get 50 scrap for playing 1 game a day and an additional 25 scrap for your first win of the day. Guaranteed scrap regardless of needing rng battlepacks for weapon skins to scrap. Much better and more rewarding. - Bayonet charge nerf? I don't know but I only got bayoneted once this week. Maybe now people can't instant 90 degree turn around a corner and gank you. When I tried it, it seemed like my character needed a much larger turning radius instead of instant twerking to whatever direction I pointed. - Net code improvements? The game felt more fluid. - Operations mode will now auto start another round on the same map once the game has finished with teams on opposite positions. - Conquest has map voting at the end of a round. Sure that might make some maps played a bit less frequently, but those maps generally sucked anyway. - Sniping improvements. I definitely got the feeling that they highly reduced the rng bullet deviation. Back when I played before I'd keep getting pissed that my perfectly lined up head shots would not connect. It wasn't lag, it was bullet deviation EA put into BF1. As if we needed more rng in the game. It feels like that was noticeably toned done. I could actually see why I would miss a shot instead of getting annoyed. Now when I had someone's head in my crosshairs and pulled the trigger, they'd be killed. Overall it felt much more enjoyable and I'm looking forward to playing more rounds.

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 I tried the Achi Baba and Cape Helles maps tonight. Achi Baba is ok, but Cape Helles is garbage. Its all beachfront going up a steep ass sloped area. The defenders can easily keep picking everyone off and the attackers get two huge boats. The behemoth dreadnought and a destroyer. Those two ships destroy all chance the attackers might have had. The destroyer seats 4 people and the behemoth seats 4 also. Out of 3 matches on this map there are no enemy boats. Instead the enemy gets huge turrets to take out the ships, but its pointless to even shoot at the boats. Its better for the defenders to outright ignore the boats since they take 8 players out of the enemy team and puts them in the water sitting there with nothing to shoot at. And if you jump out of the boat you die because its in a no combat area. Out of the 3 matches I was in on that map, the winning team was the defenders in operation and in conquest, whoever got the dreadnought lost because the other team capped all flags while they stayed in the boat with nothing to shoot at. That map needs some serious balancing done to it. (Edit) On a side note, I love this martini henry sniper rifle. Even with it being nerfed to not instant kill to body shots, its still incredibly enjoyable to use. The aim assist got adjusted in this last patch and feels much better. I kept getting pissed off when my gun would auto track enemies and screw up my aim. Now I can actually aim at an enemy, track them manually and when another enemy jumps in front of him it doesn't jerk my gun in the opposite direction anymore. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted January 13, 2018 Apparently we're getting an anti aircraft rocket gun soon. And this guy complains that it's to OP. Wtf. Planes have been OP since the game launched and every match has at least 2 guys in planes going 50-2 in every match. I'd rather see planes removed from the game but at least this rocket gun will make things bearable.
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted January 13, 2018 This gadget seems like a must. I doubt everyone will be running around with it because tanks are still the biggest threat to ground troops. At the same time, people never picked the AA tanks, unless it was a map with no aircraft or blimp. I'm sure it hasn't changed where people pick the wrong tank type. At least it gives someone the option to do something about the planes when they get fed up with them. It still looks skill based, you have to lead off. They'll probably nerf the projectile speed to make it harder to lead with. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
