slippers 3,168 Report post Posted December 8, 2020 it seems like its a trend now for star wars movies and series to bring back deceased characters, apart from force ghosts. i wasnt a big star wars fan to begin with but last jedi kinda took the movie magic out of me. gave a couple mandalorian episodes a try but ended up cancelling disney+ and dont regret it Spoiler my first impression still remains when i first watched it. he’ll always be the jar jar binx of original trilogy to me. so clumsy its painful

But him being a bad ass killer in mandalorian was the real shocker. I think because of how Jango Fett was portrayed in the prequel movie series people built up Boba to be way more of an elite fighter than his character was given the chance to be in the original trilogy. He was basically retconned and star wars loves to retcon. Because like you said, aside from him doing his bounty hunter thing in the movies, he died pretty dumb on Tatooine. Aside from Mandalorian and the Star Wars animated series, I think I've watched maybe 1 or 2 movies on Disney + over the year I had it. Its honestly not that great of a streaming network to me unless you have kids to watch all those Disney movies. I wouldn't mind watching the old X-Men series again at some point though. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted December 8, 2020 Spoiler im just gonna pretend prequels and sequels never happened. first time i heard lucas was making a movie about a kid darth vader back in 1999 or before that, i was like..why? lol. i was reading a book at that time, dont recall the name but i love the idea that anakin already had crushed lungs from heroic spaceship battle and was already depended on breathing machine when he was still on the light side. bc it fits old ben’s description of anakin being the best space pilot in the galaxy..or along that line i dont remember the exact quote. anyway other encounter i had with boba fett was in N64’s shadows of empire. even then i thought why was he so hard to beat? and im like oh yeah he cheats too because hes using his slave 1 to defeat me lol. the game was awesome though. i think i watched like 2 new movies from disney+. that was about it. it didnt offer anything special compared to other streaming services. the ones that i did want to watch had like a schedule notice telling when itll be available but they were like months away to watch, so it was ridiculous. i could just rent it on amazon prime and get it over with. and i was already watching clone wars series on netflix at that time so all i was interested in were duck tales and tale spin but not enough to keep me interested in the long run so it had to go. DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted December 12, 2020 Spoiler Seismic Charge! That made this episode for me. That was my favorite scene in Attack of the Clones, and pretty much one of my most favorite sound effects ever. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 12, 2020 Spoiler When I saw that explosion.. that was epic. Meanwhile.. years from now Return of the jedi relies on bombs that drop out of clunky bomber ships. I am so glad Mandalorian is nailing Star Wars so damn accurately. It feels like they're really making Star Wars amazing again. Only 1 episode left for the season. I don't get why Din gave Moff Gideon the heads up. Oh well, its good tension. lol. It was interesting seeing his face and hearing his voice. He really does love that little Grogu considering he'd break his code and unmask to get the info he needed to rescue him. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 18, 2020 (edited) Holy shit. Spoiler Luke Skywalker!? And he was fucking epic. I was hoping to see Ezra show up, but Luke shows up. Holy shit. I wonder if this will be the last we see of Grogu or if he'll show up again some day. Din has fulfilled his task, will he now go with Bo-Katan and retake Mandalore!? Will the show still be as good without Grogu (I think it definitely will be)? And Boba taking over Jabba's palace at the end and thats where his new series will start up. Oh man, so much happened. Even R2D2 was there. Oh man. This is what I want from Star Wars. This is amazing. Damn I want more ASAP. Spoiler Assuming they don't retcon the sequel trilogy, then Grogu must be Luke's first student. If thats the case and assuming Grogu didn't die when Kylo Ren killed the students when he destroyed Luke's jedi temple all those years later, then Grogu could be alive and have existed during the last movie.. hmm.. I still think they might retcon those sequel movies, or Grogu leaves the jedi training after a large chunk of years and joins back up with Mando. But this sets a new precedent of cg characters.. we could potentially see Ahsoka and Luke cross paths in the Ahsoka series. Theres alot of Luke's life that was not touched upon in the sequel movies and if they want to delve into that more they could. His cg looked really good too, way way better than Leia did at the end of Rogue One. Edited December 18, 2020 by Sledgstone Oops, I typed the wrong name. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted December 19, 2020 ^ some random youtubers did deepfake on rogue one’s cg leia and she looked much better. if amatuer’s can do that, id hope movie/tv industries pick it up and improve it. like i mentioned earlier in other thread, a series on younger obi and ani would be really good imo 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted December 19, 2020 Whew what an end! Spoiler Honestly, I'm glad Grogu is out. The premise was interesting but I hate baby's being the crutch that holds down the protagonists. Just like in the TWD. Judith died in the comic at the prison, but she lived in the TV show and was always an unnecessary plot device to add tension. Now she's a master zombie samurai. 🙄 Anyways. I'm conflicted. But in a good way. I really wanted it to be Cal. But the Luke scene was amazing. They gave fans what they wanted, and that was to see Luke kick ass post OG Trilogy style. Lets face it. The saber battles of the OG were slow and pretty much not good by today's standards. That's fine, the movies didn't need them... but once Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan vs Maul happened, a new standard was set forever. And to get to see Luke go hard in that style was awesome. The surprise was def not much of a surprise once the X-Wing showed up... and then the black glove... For any real fan we all knew who it was before the hood came off. Now with the child out, It'll be interesting to see the tension between Mando and Bo-Katan. Clearly they'll fight, but at what cost? It would be cool to see Sabine in season 3. I want at least ONE light-hearted filler ep with Hondo dammit! I need an ep with his shenanigans. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 22, 2020 That deep fake does look alot better. I wonder why Disney isn't using software like that. 🤔

slippers 3,168 Report post Posted December 23, 2020 my guess is deepfake has been critisized for being used on political figures and porn sites so idk maybe disney wants to keep their squeaky clean image or something lol. or maybe they have a contract with some cg programming companies that they cant get out of. but yeah its their loss for not using it bc it looks really good and has a lot of potentials, especially now that star wars want to backpeddle from disaster movie sequels and throw fans back in timeline 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 25, 2020 I tried the deepfake software a few years ago to see how it worked. It's interesting because you need a crapload of source material, basically face shots of the person you want to duplicate at every angle and facial expression possible. They are scripts that you can run that will auto grab and crop the person's face out of movie scenes and interviews off youtube videos. Then in the target video you want to override the face you select the person in it, reference the folder with the thousands of face shots and set the program to go. But there's some catches... the person you swap the face with has to look very similar to begin with, bone structure, eyes, check bones, eyebrows, etc. Because the final product is more of a face merge than swap. The closer the person looks like the image the more accurate it'll look like a face swap. That Luke one looked as good as it did because the cg Luke looked pretty damn spot on. Basically Disney could do the cg de-aging they do now and then do the deep fake as a final layer and it'd be perfect. If a deepfake person tried to put lukes face on qui gon jin in episode 1 it'd most likely look like ass. The other issue when I tried to make a deepfake was processing time. Because it's an AI script you have to let it do its thing. It takes an ass load of gpu processing power and alot of time. I have a gtx 1060 with 6gb ram at the time and that was pretty good, but even after letting the script run over night for a week 6 hours a night the deep fake I was trying still looked like crap. 1 slippers reacted to this

As some of you may already know, I joined ILM/Lucasfilms a few months ago and haven't had the time to work on any new YouTube content. Now I've settled into my job, uploads should start increasing again. They'll still be slow, but hopefully not months apart. Enjoy!" Shamook: "Senior Facial Capture Artist" Maybe with a combo of the de-aging CG along with a layering of deepfakes and then CG'ing better lighting and shadows back onto the deepfakes they'll get their CG characters looking a hell of alot more realistic.
