I did have a coworker once that loved mayo as a dipping sauce for french fries. I'd see her pound down an order of steak fries with like an entire cup of mayo. Somehow she was skinny as hell. I went out Saturday to buy some cigarettes from the natives and I was shocked at how many people were driving all over the place. wtf. Everywhere is closed except Walmart and Lowes in that area and there was easily as much traffic as a typical Saturday. These people need to stay the fuck at home. x_x btw, I don't smoke but Lady does. and NY tax on cigarettes is bullshit. 1 carton of 10 cigarette packs will cost you $100 at a gas station because the tax is more than the cost of the product. But if you go to a native store and buy their brand its $32 a carton. Huge price difference. Needless to say the natives were slamming with business. The one super large shop I usually go to was closed because they kept having lines of vehicles stretching out onto the highway so the state had to shut them down. The other natives run their smoke shop out of a gas station so its an "essential business". Drive through only and that line stretched around the building and down the road. I was in line for a solid hour. wtf. I bought her a 1 1/2 month supply just so I won't have to go there again. If I have to go again I'll take a day off and go in the morning on a weekday to beat the rush. Never going there on a weekend again. Oh and the natives around here don't technically have to follow any quarantine restrictions, since they are on their own sovereign lands. But because of the one shop having lines stretching out onto the state highway they had to shut down.. the different nations are also following the guidelines too and they did shut down the Turning Stone casino and canceled all concerts and events a while back. I went out Sunday around 5:30 for some fast food because its been almost 3 weeks since we had any and we wanted a break from cooking. Turns out that same area wasn't nearly as busy. I'm guessing Saturday was the last pay day check rush for a while. At least until everyone gets a stimulus check.
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted March 31, 2020 I was prepared 😛 i stockpiled 3 months worthy of supplies back in February. Hurricanes after another, or if anything bad happens, shelves are always empty here. As soon as i heard 1st case of corona virus hit the US, i was like yup..now or never. My aunt in South korea didnt believe me when i told her ppl here were fighting over toilet papers..i couldnt explain any furthur.. Texas is beginning to catch up to california in corona cases it seems. Will have to see in coming weeks but Houston's response has been very slow and not enough testing. One of 4th largest cities in the States and yet we dont even have a curfew yet. Our current weakass lockdown order ends in a couple days, so we are going to hear soon about extention and hopefully a strict curfew. stay safe guys. As long as you are healthy you have nothing to worry about. Unconfirmed source has it that corona has been spreading since semptember of last year and as early as november here in the States. And like many, showing corona like symptoms, i was sick for 3 days in January, with body chills, chest pains, and some headaches but no fever. and lingering dry cough that lasted for 2 months.. but we'll never know if it was or not and take this seriously as it passes like other respiratory viruses slow down during warm weather. Unless its manmade..cough 😛 2 Sledgstone and Myk JL reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted March 31, 2020 You stay safe too slippers! I heard about that theory that corona has been here for a while now. I will say tho, it was in early January I was horrible sick. Lasted a solid two weeks with 4 of those days I was mostly bedridden with weakness and asthma issues. I figured it must have been a strong ass flu. I still think thats probably what it was tho. Seems odd that if its been going around for that long already, NYC is only now getting slammed with it just in the last couple weeks. Honestly, I hope that is what we had so we don't have to worry about it now. 😕
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted March 31, 2020 My Mom had the same thing around that time, and her flu test came back negative. She was diagnosed with Pneumonia and Bronchitis. She was sick for about 2 weeks and then my dad got it before she was fully well. A lady at work took a trip to NC around that time as well and had a 2 week bout of coughing and fever. She was also told she had Bronchitis after her flu test came back negative. I never got it from any of them so either it was nothing, or I was Asymptomatic. I've always had a pretty stout immune system since I'm around nasty ass people 8-10 hours a day. If I ever feel a little off, I just chalk it up to a head cold or some minor virus. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/coronavirus-researchers-identify-strongest-symptom-21790401 Both my parents complained how they couldn't taste anything as well... interesting. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Sledge- I think it seems that way because ppl are rushing to get tested. results are ppl overwhelming hospitals and exhausting medical supplies, beds, and ventilators just like what happens during panic buying. Other surrounding states i bet have similar number of cases but lacks testing kits, their numbers will rise as soon as they are available. Houston last sunday went from like 23 new cases to 500 new cases in a matter of a day, but still turning ppl away who show no serious symptoms due to test kit shortage. And only a week ago told them test kit was faulty and closed down drive through test area for some time. In some areas ppl are waiting in line for hours to get tested, best way to catch something even when you arent even sick 😷 Dx- Normally i cant distinguish smell so hard to say when i was sick in jan but my symtoms were mild, thankfully. One of symtoms that im kinda convinced that i had it was body chills. Last time that happend to me was when i had a stomach flu but that was like more than a decade ago. For three days i was sick, i kept thinking whats going on, somethings not right here. One of regular customers i talk to said when he traveled to france in december, he ended up in hospital because he was so sick but came out negative for flu as well. He also suspects it was corona but he isnt sure either. Strange that it doesnt affect infants and children that much, they have weak immune system most of all Edited April 1, 2020 by slippers 2 DeathscytheX and Sledgstone reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 1, 2020 Yeah, no way I'll be waiting in a line with a bunch of sick people to get tested. X_x About that flu test though... I think they might be faulty. My brothers sister in law that was getting tested for covid19 did not test positive for the flu for the first 2 tests. She was tested weekly. First 2 weeks negative for flu, when they took her in to the hospital she was on deaths door. Took 24 hours to stabilize her. They tested her for covid19 and it came back negative, but a third test for flu came back positive. Wtf. The flu can be just as deadly as covid19, all depends on the person's health. The doctors think she had the flu the entire time.
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted April 2, 2020 ^ wow glad shes okay. she must had some underlying health issues to get sick like that ..man US was so unprepared for this. It sad. had the whole front view of what china and europe were going through for at least two months and the worst hasnt even happened yet. And houston mayor is a clown, its unbelievable. instead of taking this seriously, he is handing out cupcakes 🍰 to nurses with no mask on and no gloves. Wth..X'D And his latest order is to remove all basketball hoops from public parks. Why? Nobody knows. Thats his priority. No leadership whatsoever. now im hearing texas will be the next hot spot within couple weeks. houston is screwed. lol is NY doing any better? any changes on restrictions/curfew?
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 3, 2020 Yeah she had some medical issues that definitely did not help her overall health fighting the flu. No real changes here still an overall lockdown with no end date set. Schools have been closed for weeks now, all non essential businesses are all still closed. Any restaurants still open are all drive through only or curbside pickup, but more restaurants are laying everyone completely off and closing weekly. Theres a local plastic manufacturing plant that has new contracts to mass produce face shields for hospitals so they seem ok, we have great hospitals in this area so there's only been 2 deaths so far here, over 300 cases as of right now in my local county. It sounds like NYC is a night and day difference to the rest of the state, they sound screwed. Everyone is finally starting to wear face masks and old people seem to finally be staying at home. The restrictions on purchases at the stores does seem to work out. Still limited selections at Walmart and you can only buy 1 package of toilet paper, but it's actually in stock (only 4 packs there earlier today on all those empty shelves but it was there) because they're forcing ppl to not hoard purchase. I think once everyone gets a stimulus check/direct deposit the stores will be a mad house again. Theres no curfew but it's like everyone is doing it on their own here. I bought fast food tonight for dinner and the parking lot for burger king, arbys, and 15 other stores and restaurants around 6:30pm only had about 15 total cars out of an area that would normally be packed with hundreds. It was a bit unsettling. All the local schools have been delivering school breakfast and lunches to families with kids so all the bus drivers are still working. They go to all their normal stops but instead of picking up kids, a parent comes out to the bus and takes their food package that's sitting at the door. And it's for all kids not just kids on low income. And all the kids now have chrome books and the teachers are doing lesson plans over the internet. And any kids without internet got discounted and/or temporary free high speed internet until this passes. For an unexpected epidemic I think this state is handling it pretty well for the most part. And while I haven't/wont always agree with governor Cuomo's ideas and actions (political stuff, nothing at all with what he's doing right now during all this though), he's done a damn good job of keeping everyone in the state well informed. 1 slippers reacted to this
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted April 3, 2020 ^ i thought you guys had 6pm curfew like california did. hm guess not but yeah i see that NY gov guy appear on news almost daily demanding ventilators. cant blame him though. its just gonna get worse if nothings done. face masks are still taboo here lol..but i do see more and more ppl wearing them too. bandana if they dont have one. a guy who works at a walmart as a greeter told me yesterday that he was not allowed to wear one let alone give him one bc it might scare ppl away. still long way to go before ppl take it seriously here cant imagine how desperate some ppl are going to be getting laid off for this or losing hours bc their business has slowed down. theres a warehouse near my workplace and a worker there had a fight with his supervisor and he shot himself in the head right after locking himself in a bathroom. he probably thought he was singled out and humiliated in front of everyone. this happened 2 or 3 days before shelter in place order took place in houston, and we found out bc there were like 9 cop cars showed up at their warehouse and customers and his coworkers came by to our store and told us what had happened. if he waited just a few more days though, lockdown would have closed down the warehouse anyway. what a waste of life and he thought his life was over for losing his job that day. just a bad timing for that guy. i only saw him couple times so i feel bad for not remembering his face that well 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 3, 2020 I think people aren't taking it serious yet because of politics. (Beginning rant) Texas has alot of republican people. I mention it because alot of republican people watch Fox News.. and for the first 2-3 months of coronavirus Fox News basically told everyone it was either a hoax, a common cold, nothing to be taken seriously, etc (echoing what Trump's opinion of it at the time except more embellished). Only recently have they actually given a shit and reported the actual news and severity of it (because Trump did as well). And of course people say "the impeachment distracted Trump and the media from emphasizing how severe this is"... ah sure.. Trump was so distracted he still golfed like 20 days and had time to plan a superbowl party. And yes, all the cable news talked about nothing but the impeachment shit, but thats why people have to watch and read actual news. AP, Reuters & NPR and others have been reporting on this since day one. (End rant) I think the other thing is that theory about "we already had it in January"... I'm really starting to doubt that especially now since there is 300+ local cases and another person in my county died last night bringing it up to 3 and a second Centro bus driver and some farmers the next county over have now been diagnosed with it which means alot of people have already been exposed all over the area.. Thats alot of sick people simultaneously in roughly a 2-3 week span for something we all got back in January. And I've read where people say that face masks wont necessarily help you from catching it.. true.. buts its good at preventing others from catching it from you... well if thats the case, we should all wear face masks because we don't know who is asymptomatic or not. If we all have a mask on then the guy shopping at walmart near me who has it but not showing symptoms won't spread it to me.. or if I get it and don't know, I could help others by having a mask on. *puts on face mask* Oh, and Lady's dad is getting out of the nursing home this weekend, he had knee surgery and had to be in a nursing home for recovery. Hes a prime target for Covid19. If he gets this, theres a damn strong chance it'll kill him. He gets hospitalized by the flu or phenomena once a year, I don't see how he could survive this. 1 slippers reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 3, 2020 I mentioned it to Strider in a status update.. apparently the stimulus package gives everyone on unemployment an extra $600 a week for up to 4 months. https://www.businessinsider.com/stimulus-package-unemployment-benefits-increase-2020-3 That seems like alot of money. I'm guessing its so people can get the COBRA insurance and be able to afford health insurance. I'm guessing alot of people wont do that and will bank the money instead. I know unemployment doesn't pay your full amount of your normal weekly pay, but damn.. I bet alot of people on unemployment will be making more money than what they were getting just for working. Its like Andrew Yang's plan of giving everyone money every month is getting kicked up a notch and is being tested right now. Between the $1200 for everyone and unemployment bonus, the government will be passing out cash left and right.

Between the $1200 for everyone and unemployment bonus, the government will be passing out cash left and right. Andrew Yang's Universal Basic Income plan was $1000 a month. And would've only helped people IF they were working a minimum wage job. So if someone were unemployed they would've still been financially screwed. On top of this Andrew Yang might've cut things like Food Stamps & Housing Assistance. Things I heavily rely on as I only get $890 a month from SSI. And none of these programs are purely good as they all want to prevent people on them from saving over $2000 and will adjust to give you less if you're fiscally responsible. If we need anything right now it's a Universal Union. Federal Government gives $2100 to everyone who is legally an adult. If your state thinks you should have more, like $2200, then they need to pay that entire amount. Otherwise it ends up being $2000 from the fed & 100 from your state. Now if a business want to hire you they then have to pay you more than the fed or your state would've. If that business decides to pay you less then that, that business would then have to pay a tax equal to the amount you would've gotten if you weren't working. We also need a Deflation Tax that would only apply to the richest in order to shrink the wealth gap. So that rich person who had $4 Billion & now has $2 Billion still has the same amount of purchasing power as they did before. The majority of us after that would also have more purchasing power. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted April 5, 2020 sledge- definitely downplaying and spreading false info can hurt us at the first few months that were very critical, but after a failure to prevent the virus from entering a country, what we know now can make us careless too. another reason i think for ppl, regardless of their politcal affiliation, for not taking it seriously is bc corona isnt as deadly as it initially thought. when you hear what mortality rate is, it can be scary. but do opposite and say you have 97% to 99% survival rate then its not so scary anymore. it can be "just a flu" depends on who you apply to. sure no one wants this to mutate and become much more aggressive than it already is. but for now, ppl are more worried about losing their homes/businesses than getting sick. so US has to make a decision and stop from further devastation: save the economy or save our vulnerable citizens? i dont think US can do both at this late in stage. we all had already seen what kind of extremely brutal measure china took to stop from further spreading.. or maybe its too late to do anything and just hope and wait till it passes i dont think we all had it all at once. maybe just some of us did and cycle continued until it caught up on to larger groups with equivalently low health/immune system such as nursing homes. its incubation period is 2 to 4 weeks, even more, theres no way to know virus lives on us hiding as we could be carriers and reactivates multiple times without showing any symptoms. before my brother moved out and got married, he use to go out alot after work and he brought home cold/flu buncha times. for 2weeks of sneezing and coughing and by the time he got better my mom got sick. and when she was getting better i got sick. we were in a same household and it took me almost a month to get sick so its possible for corona to spread weeks or months apart at times, depending on who it infects and where it reaches. im not even saying this theory is true though. it only exists bc chinese govt tried to hide it possibly for weeks or for months until it got out of control. until we know more about this virus, im not counting this theory out yet 😛 1 Sledgstone reacted to this

Interesting concepts about universal union and deflation taxes. On a side note, I googled Universal Union and it brought up results for the game Half-Life. 😲 I have a couple family members on SSI. The limitations with that system are dumb and counter productive. I had one family member making $700 a month on SSI, she worked a part time job. That job paid her like $100 a week. So instead of now having $1100 a month income, SSI deducts her pay from the $700 a month and paid only $300 a month to make sure she stayed at $700 a month total. It basically wants nobody to get ahead in life and stay perpetually in poverty. Might as well not work at all as a disabled person, keep the full benefits and no paper work/ tax filling. But that $2000 total assets is bullshit too. They don't even want anyone to be able to have a savings or they'll cut off money benefits. wtf. I found out it does not apply to home ownership as a house does not apply to that total. But if that same person took out a home equity loan to make house repairs and had that money in the bank and SSI found out, nope.. cash benefits either cut off or reduced significantly. wtf. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted April 7, 2020 i didnt know this thing existed for real lol 😂 man it was like 5th element mail delivery scene. so futuristic lol..it was so cool. i heard a rumor last night that said trump was gonna do a national lockdown and all stores will be closed for two weeks, so i needed to deposit my checks just incase it was true. after work, i went to my local bank branch and had a note at a front door saying it was closed and directed me to a different location. i was like uh oh? so i got there and an entrance to a building was also closed but a note with an arrow directed me to a drive through only. i go around the building and far left was a window lane, two middle lane had long transparent tubes connected from top to bottom, and far right was atm lane. i drove to a window lane and waited and watched what others were doing with those tubes. a driver pulls out a capsule from a tube, puts his deposit slip in, puts the capsule back in, then it goes up and vanishes. maybe a minute later, it comes back down and its done. he drives off. a teller sat on a window said this lane is for business only but was really nice about it telling me i should use the tube next time. i googled it and said it existed for years! so yeah i feel bleh for not knowing but i never used a drive through before so haha 😂
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted April 7, 2020 Drive-Thru banking has existed since at least the early 80s. I remember my mom would always deposit checks like this and I'd always hope the bank teller would see little kid me in the car and put a sucker in the capsule for me. There are so much misinformation going around. Trump nor the federal government as a whole has the power to shut down the country. Thats a state level thing.. one of the few things left that belongs to the individual states at least. There is no precedent for doing this. That being said, he could issue an executive order for a temporary shut down, and then there would be lawsuits. That is government overreach and even though they'd get away with it this time, eventually the Supreme court would rule that it was unconstitutional because of the type of judges he's put in there. And if you haven't been paying attention the 9th circuit has also been flipped while no one was paying attention. There is a reason why they haven't been in the news for months trying to stop Trump. But on the flip side these types don't stand for government overreach, and the 9th would now side with that. Either way, grocery stores, drive through eateries, and medical facilities will remain open. They can't shut those down ever. Especially with how selfishly Americans live now. I saw a lady bitching on a facebook post about how she needs to go to the grocery store every day to get bread because she can only buy 1 loaf and it won't last a day in a half in her house... Instead of giving up bread or limiting its consumption and eating something else, people think they shouldn't have to go with out so long as they can afford it. Some people just buy groceries for 1-2 days. Some people would really starve because they can't plan out their groceries for 2 weeks. We finally got hand sanitizer in and I saw a lady pull it out of her grocery bag after she bought it and dump it in her hands in a fit of orgasmic euphoria like shes been cured of all ailments now and forever. 🙄 People are ridiculous... she was probably one of those types that never washes her hands and only uses sanitizer like its a replacement for that. Put your card in, type in the pin# and the ATM screen has a deposit option, click that, then it tells you to have your checks signed and does an animation for what direction to feed the checks into the slot. It sucks the check in, shows the deposit info on the screen and will even print a small receipt with the image of the check on it. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) Maybe the governments are keeping the lockdown in place longer than we thought it would because they have info they're not releasing to the public? I don't know. Covid19 seems to be going through my county now. 500 cases within a 40 minute driving distance of house now. The liquor store I used to go to had an employee with it and it sounds like hes already recovered. One of the hospitals in this area are saying they recommend everyone continuing social distancing and lockdown through the entire summer because the new projections show that the new peak from flattening the curve will hit around June/July (orange line in the graph). Our health care sucks ass. No wonder China made a bunch of new hospitals. They increased health care capacity to get the curve over with faster with higher infection rates while the US has to sit idle for 5 months because theres no way in hell the US will make some new hospitals to care for patients in such a short span of time to be beneficial. They'd have to make temporary hospitals and staff them in like a week or two to rush open the economy. The US can't even fix a pot hole in a timely manner let alone open up temporary hospitals in hot spots. Meanwhile other parts of the country are probably barely getting hit with it right now and they're all sitting idle in preparation because they don't have accurate tests yet? Maybe if these tests can get out all over the country we can open this all back up alot sooner. As far as I know its still like a 5 day wait to get test results around here. *moves this post into Covid-19 topic since its more fitting there* Edited April 15, 2020 by Sledgstone Moved post to Covid-19 topic

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted April 15, 2020 I got my stimulus funds deposited to my checking account today. Keep an eye on your bank accounts, I think everyone that has direct deposit should be having it deposited by 04/17/2020? People who do not file taxes have to fill out a form to get their stimulus.. People who receive social security benefits do not have to fill out the form unless they have children they could technically claim as dependents if they had to file taxes. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments Quote If you receive these benefits, we already have your information and you will receive $1,200. Do not use this application if you receive: Social Security retirement, disability (SSDI), or survivor benefits Railroad Retirement and Survivor Benefits As far as I know, people on SSI have to fill out the form on that IRS link to get the money ASAP. If not you're supposed to still get it, but who knows when? Quote Americans who didn't have a tax liability in 2018 or 2019, veterans beneficiaries, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients should use the new tool if they want to get paid as soon as possible. If you can wait, the IRS also said it's working on a simpler solution to pay people who receive benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs or SSI. https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/irs-new-tool-for-non-tax-filers-fast-stimulus-payments-2020-4 I have two family members on SSI, so I guess they'll fill out the form.
