DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted August 14, 2020 It's crazy how we've been conditioned to think a tax return is just some type of bonus or free money. Instead of, you know, your money they government took too much of all year. With the tax cuts last year my return was a little smaller. I'd take no return and more money each week any day. People can always save their own money instead of relying on the government to take it and possibly give back some. 🙄 The tax code needs to change and be simplified to where the government takes exactly what's needed and do away with tax filing altogether. You get a statement at the end of the year, thats it. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 this is getting ridiculous. first they try to blame that dollar bills are spreading covid but now with coin shortages. at grocery stores self checkout lanes dont accept money anymore, and cashiers put up signs that either exact change only or use bank cards only. and mandatory mask order is suppose to end next week, but i dont know what ill do if it gets extended again. like last week one of customers had threatened to report me for not enforcing all customers to wear masks in the store but i told him that stores have signs up at front windows and doors, its no longer my responsibility to babysit everyone. and then i told him to go ahead and call them and gave him stores number and address. he called and waited 30 mins until he got tired and left he came back in like 3 times to buy cigarettes and drinks bc he had nothing to do while waiting. dont underestimate the incompetent work of houston police, buddy. they rank way up in one of slowest responding enforcements in the whole state lol. they never showed up 1 Sledgstone reacted to this

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted October 5, 2020 I missed that youtube video before it got taken down. I'm guessing it was a Trump having covid video. Seems like a giant publicity stunt seeing how every news station is hanging off his every word again. Even my local news app has been spamming me with Trump updates. I'm burned out trump. DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted October 8, 2020 Honestly you better hope he wins, so when he is finally out of office there will be less years of him around to do what I know he is gonna do if he loses. The Trump Podcast will be a thing if he loses, and all the advertisers will be lining up to reap the benefits. It'll be bigger than Rogan because he'll have just as many fans as he does hate listeners. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!
Myk JL 1,731 Report post Posted October 9, 2020 Trump's popularity is irrelevant. Trump is president now because Hillary was stupid enough to only focused on The Popular Vote instead of The Electoral College. I'm more scared of what happens 4 years after Trump wins his second term. That being a third Bernie Sanders primary loss because Bernie's backbone is made out of ice cream. (His any blue will do mentality.) Bernie's want to defend socialism instead of focus on his policies. Bernie calling corporate democrats his friends. Bernie overshadowing people who have real backbones, like Richard Ojeda. The Karens and their Soy Boys like to play identity politics instead of focus on actual policies. The corporate democrats being "woke" which is just their failed attempt at appealing to younger voters. The Boob Tube Generation will still be the average democratic voter. If Biden wins (which I still doubt) I expect Kamala Harris will be president in 2023. In that scenario I don't have to worry about another Democratic Presidential Primary until 2028 or 2032. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this Quote Those who fight deplorables should see to it that they themselves do not become deplorables. And this is why I don't watch TV anymore, read the paper/news apps, why I blocked his ass on Twitter (only so I can't read his tweets, I still have to read the aftermath), and why I stay out of anything that has to do with him/politics/etc. Sadly I can't get away from it as much as I'd like since I live in a red state and everyone up here praises/worships the ground he walks on (and the majority of my extended family are Trump supporters so I get to hear it from them as well (and people wonder why I'm anti-social and hate being around my family)). Sadly this show won't be getting cancelled because I don't think Biden can pull out a win no matter how hard he tries (and even if he managed to Trump will bitch, moan, and take it into legislation where he'll most likely win if his Supreme Court nominee gets in (which will most likely happen)). I just wish the lot of this was over with (both Trump and COVID) but my only hope of one of them going away seems to be getting slimmer and slimmer by the day (I leave it to your imaginations as to what I'm implying here). 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) so anyone voted? trump is dangerous but biden at 76 and he thinks he is running for the senate and hiding in a basement..err..no thanks to either one. my coworker was listening to spanish speaking news and told me it was warning ppl just incase biden loses, stock water and food bc there might be a riot and looting as a result they dont want. O_o as how BLM is still acting out, cant rule that scenario out i suppose. i like how covid all of sudden surges all over the place and several cities like philadelphia and el paso went on a lockdown less than a week before the election day. if thats not an agenda then i dont know what is. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted October 31, 2020 Lol. The covid spiking isn't a conspiracy with the election, it's literally a result of the schools reopening. The university here is getting all kinds of shit because parties and large groups keep gathering causing spreading events. One of our schools reclosed for 2 weeks because of positive covid tests. My county is now a hotspot because of the Idiots having parties. They've had early voting here for a while now but they've been swamped so I haven't voted yet. I have election day off so I'll go that morning. I'm voting for Biden, not necessarily because I want him to be president, but because it's the only vote i can cast that can potentially lead to Trump being removed from office and removed from our day to day lives. As far as I'm concerned a vote for Biden is a vote to end bullshit every day trump arguements. Ever since he became president it turned everyone into a political asshole on both sides. He instigates flame wars on a daily basis. I want the country to go back to normal. I'm burned out on trump more than I'm burned out on covid. Depending on what news you listen to they're saying the same thing about trump supporters going on riots if he loses. This is the bullshit that I want to end. It's all escalated to extremes of right versus left and it needs to stop.
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) its nothing special that schools are reopened and ppl are having parties though. its only businesses that suffer bc of fines and restrictions that are placed on them. for the rest of ppl, they could careless. i know this bc a local news report about a party goer or two getting killed from drive by shootings with hundreds of attendees without any eyewitnesses and not bc of covid. its been like that even before the lockdown and almost everyweek it never fails something goes wrong during those dumbass parties like this recent one where two numbnuts fall from 4 story balcony while partying/drinking their asses off. and cops dont stop ppl from having parties even during lockdowns, at least not here anyway. and kids here have a choice to stay home and study online or go back to school for a couple months now and houston actually have been getting lowest covid cases since it started. also not too long ago texas gov tried to limit the voting booth per county (blaming it on covid but in reality he was trying to discourage poor ppl with commute difficulties from voting) so he had been criticized for trying to rig the election. for the news exposure, i watch one of those one hour long nbc's dateline when i come from work. and the rest on youtube and yahoo articles. not everyday though, hells kitchen is free on roku tv so right now i been watching that lol. so when my coworker told me about a possible riot, a foreign news source thats mostly neutral, it was news to me that i havent heard of. if republicans are pissed off about the election result, they arent going after petty retail stores for cheap thrill of looting, theyll probably go after officials and govt properties so id be in less danger if i wanted to go shopping after the election day..i did all my shopping today just incase lol. and when i was writing that post last night about agenda, nbc's headline was like "88,000 new covid cases in ONE DAY in 25+ states!!" and showing empty hospital beds all over again, i was like alright thats enough news for today. whats contradicting with news and reality is that i have customers who are ailing (cancer and other diseases) and i ask them lots of times about hospital capicity when they mention about their health and their hospital visits and they are like, oh i didnt even wait that long, hospitals are usually empty..this was when houston was suppose to have high covid resurge. im not just going to blindly accept crap like, holy shit 100,000,000,000 ppl got covid and body bags everywhere (and insert images of italian covid patients..which they got caught and aplogized for)!! and what turned me off completely from biden is his last prez debat with trump. i mean he got obliterated when trump asked him to answer "who built the cages?" biden's answer was "we made a mistake." for crying out loud, 50 years of political career and 8 years in obama administration and that's his answer? then biden turns around and says he'll fix 4 years of trump's mishandling. im sorry but using biden's own logic, trump should get re-elected so he can fix his mistakes too, thats only fair. and bipartisan bickering will never go away unless you turn off from news completely. i only watch it to see whats going on, and most of time i tune out when two politicians argue about whos better at lying. if anyone but biden, id root for them so trump goes away too, but biden is a such weak candidate to begin with. at least i know what trump would do, even if its reckless. but biden? hell even obama tried to talk him out of it of uncertainty saying, biden, you dont have to do this." thats just big yikes. (edit)———————- “They've had early voting here for a while now but they've been swamped so I haven't voted yet. I have election day off so I'll go that morning.“ ps im not saying who you should vote for, both of them can drop dead for all i care. i re-read my post and it kinda sounded that way. i didnt vote but i prefer trump to win over biden since theres not much left in biden imo. and i hope you dont have to wait long to vote on the election day. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 1, 2020 It's all good. The way Biden is going I expect him to drop dead in the first year and Kamala Harris will be president. Lol. I don't understand the reasoning for shutting everything down at this point anymore. They keep saying cases keep spreading, but the whole point of the lockdowns and restrictions were to keep the hospitals from exceeding capacity. They're not exceeding capacity, it doesn't look like they will, at least around here that's for certain, so I don't see the point in the news constantly covering it. But that's how the news is now. They run on a single story that's getting them ratings and that's all they'll cover. It's the same with trump, he'll tweet something at 4am and that's all the news will talk about for 24 hours. The news is all pointless anymore. I'm guessing covid is giving them more ratings than constantly quoting trump so they keep running with it. And that's why I try not to watch anymore. The only news I watch now is the nightly local news and NBC nightly news because it's only 30 mins. The rest of the news I'll check my google news feed. I purposely don't block different news feeds I don't agree with because I try to read all sides of something. But I don't read any of the headlines anymore and now I try to stick with science news. 1 slippers reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 3, 2020 Me and lady voted earlier. In and out. It was pretty quick, we were there maybe 5 minutes. Except an elderly lady was there and threw a fit to get attention because the poll workers asked her to remove her political hat. Its been a law in NY for years upon years that you can't wear anything political at polling places and courtrooms. I think that's actually a law in almost every state. Everyone was wearing a mask and did the 6 foot distancing and another poll worker was sanitizing all the chairs and privacy spots after people left. It was organized pretty well.
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted November 3, 2020 ^ what was the poll screen looked like? was it easy to use? it seems like poll booths dont even have those big curtains anymore. i asked customers if they voted today and most of them said no lol. i have a day off tomorrow so ill try to stay up to see who wins. wish i bought some snacks and beer for this j/k 😛
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 4, 2020 Way back in the day the voting booths I used in Ohio had curtains and when you walked in, you hit push buttons on a machine to indicate who you vote for, after you click push buttons for each category, I pulled a lever and it simultaneously imprinted a paper ballot with the vote and opened the curtain so I could walk out. I never liked that style because the paper vote was all inside the machine so you couldn't see it. All the voting I've done in NY has been the same for years, cheap cardboard privacy thing at a table with metal folding chairs. You get the ballot from one of the poll workers after you tell them who you are and they verify your address, then you sign for it. Take the ballot to a chair, sit down, fill in the circles for who you vote for like a multiple choice test in high school, then take the ballot to the machine and feed it into it. The machine sucks in the vote, says its casted and thats it. Heres sample images: I don't see a sample 2020 one so heres one from last time. I didn't take a pic of the ballot today because I think thats illegal. Basically you just fill in one bubble for each column to cast a vote. Only takes a couple minutes. 1 slippers reacted to this
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted November 4, 2020 i was thinking touch screen only lol. i was watching cbs news live and thats what they were showing me so i was curious. that voting sample is kinda confusing to me..having same candidates names in same column two or even three times. my county was trying drive thru voting and things went wrong i guess. dem and rep are suing each other for its legitimacy..big circus show going on over here.
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 4, 2020 (edited) Every state has it's own voting laws. Some might use touchscreens, some might use the old punch card booths, some use these scantron forms like in NY, some have paper ballot backups and others might be all digital. Theres no federal mandated specific voting style which is why every election night is a mess. But because its all on a state by state basis, the odds of the entire election being manipulated on a federal level is very low. Yeah I think its stupid that candidates can get themselves listed 2 or 3 times on a ballot under different parties. All the other parties are pretty pointless since none of them ever win. For a ballot like NY all that really matters is the top two lines for republican and democrat. I think they switch positions as to which is at the top of the form every other year. You heard the saying, "Vote across party lines"? It means this: The party lines go from left to right. The one I circled is the democrat party line. You fill in every circle on that line and you just voted for every democrat, one line down, vote from left to right and you just voted for every republican. The inside of the cardboard/plastic privacy things have examples and directions that make it all pretty straight forward to. Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 8, 2020 Damn covid is hot spotting its ass off in central NY. Looks like Cuomo is going to shut down the entire county on monday. wtf. The hospitals are not being overrun with patients and it sounds to me like the majority of people getting sick at this point are only having flu like symptoms and get better. Meanwhile everywhere I go everyone has a mask on and I have not run into a single person in any store that coughs. Its hard to believe so many people are getting sick when I don't see it. Maybe those people are actually staying home when they get sick? I guess, because I know if I got sick I'd stay the hell home too. Its frustrating. They really pushed the vaccinations last year too even before covid because of all the anit-vaxxers out there letting their kids get mumps and crap. They made did make it mandatory, if I remember right, that all kids going to public schools have to have records of all their vaccinations or they would be prohibited from attending classes at public shools. When a covid vaccine comes out, they'll probably add that to the list of required vaccines so it will probably get forced on kids unless those parents make the kids go full remote learning from that point on. I don't see how they could force it on everyone though without legal challenges. I know I'd rather let other people take the vaccine first before me and see if they have bad reactions to it. Let those people test the waters first. Taking money out of the bank for a national lockdown seems kind of stupid. How would he pay amazon with cash for all his deliveries? lmao. All the lockdowns we had before was everyone staying at home buying stuff online. Good news is Cuomo didn't put us on lockdown, instead it was targeted locations within the county that went to yellow status which basically put more restrictions on restaurants to have seating go from 10 person tables down to 4 per table max and all schools in that area had to increase covid testing, etc. So yay, no lockdowns again and it didn't sound like any lockdown would be coming after that either. slippers 3,168 Report post Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) happy thanksgiving everyone. had bbq on tuesday at my brother’s because i couldnt make it on thanskgiving bc of work. i tried to talk to my brother and his wife about the covid, and dangers of its vaccine, and how i think its just a flu but they didnt want to hear it..telling me i should really be careful and that its very serious bc im the one exposed the most. not that i disagree with the latter but THEN they kept asking me to hug and play with my nephew and my brother wanted to share a chocolate cake with me after the dinner and im like what if i have a covid? and hes like Nehh..LOL. that threw me off, completely opposite from what they told me and how they act around me so that was funny. so yeah when i thought i wouldnt have any turkey this year, one of customers brought us some turkey and side dishes today so it was great. i was little hesistant to eat at first bc his cousin died of covid like 2 months ago but i was hungry and it was delicious lol. only scare i had was last month when a post office lady bought some soda and told me she had just recovered from covid..and right next day i was sick so i was little worried but it only lasted a day so maybe it was just allegy related cold i normally get around this time of year when weather changes. i suppose covid cases would skyrocket now after today as media is already blaming everyone for traveling and seeing our family and friends for thanksgiving. oh dear.. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/despite-covid-warnings-2m-jerks-112616451.html Edited November 26, 2020 by slippers 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 I was going to post my thanksgiving info in this topic, but I forgot and made it a status update. https://www.ancientclan.com/profile/1-sledgstone/?status=1609&type=status Quote I went to Ohio to visit my family for Thanksgiving. Yes, there is covid, but we were careful. We did restaurant style rules for eating, masks on when getting plates of food, my brother's familys at their own tables all 6 foot+ away from the other tables while eating. We kept our masks on near my dad because of his immune system being compromised by the cancer treatments. Aside from that we kept the windows open to keep fresh air circulating in. We took our masks off when we'd be 6 feet away from him and each other. Its good that my mom's house is so big, the kitchen/greatroom is literally big enough to have parties of 50 people. Our handful of people was able to keep distances pretty easily. Its been 4 days since Thanksgiving and nobody is coming down with any covid symptoms so I'm guessing we did good. It was a fun time. Alot of good memories. I hardly ever visit Ohio during winter months because of winter snow storms in NY. We lucked out and its been in the 50s and only raining off and on. I caught a ride back and forth with my cousin who now lives in NY also. He had a covid test done the day before we left which was negative and I quarantined in my house for 2 weeks leading up to the trip. I'll be quarantining again for another 2 weeks just in case, but that doesn't bother me much. The one downside of the covid for my thanksgiving is we all did "virtual hugs" with my dad. When we wanted to give him a hug, we'd see him across the table or if we were 6 feet away or so, we'd say "virtual hug" and do the hugging motion at each other. With covid, we had to be careful because hes a prime target for that virus. My younger brother and his wife got covid tests 2 days before thanksgiving too since his sister in law and her husband both covid and tested positive for it this time. His father in law and 2 others in their family also got it, but never got the covid test and decided they'd go ahead and keep working in public instead of using sick time. wtf. And people wonder why covid is spreading like crazy. "Its just the sniffles, I'm ok." but the other brother had a temp of 103 for 3 days last I heard. And the sister in law was bedridden for 4 days with an almost constant temp of 102. wtf. Meanwhile her husband lost his sense of taste and was sick for only a day. But the sense of taste was gone for like 4 days. This covid hits everyone different. 1 slippers reacted to this
