Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 18, 2020 https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/free-games It started yesterday. Log in once a day and buy your free game for $0.00. We wont know what game it is until it unlocks for 24 hours. They did the same thing last year, I got 15 free games out of it. I haven't played any of them yet. More games for the backlog, but its still not bad at all considering its all free.
slippers 3,168 Report post Posted December 18, 2020 ive heard of epic before but never really bothered to look into its controversial stuff. O_o like i wanted to get world war z from steam but i couldnt find it. later i learned that its only available on epic.i wasnt happy to hear that honestly and it seems a lot of ppl dislike epic for such a reason as well for monopolizing newly released games to their store platform only, plus ppl complained the site has been hacked multiple times before so theres that. idk, free sounds good but i trust negative views more now than good ones lol. but if you think its a good place for gaming, how do you compare with steam? Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 19, 2020 It's just another game launcher to me. Like steam, gog, origin, battlenet, etc. It doesn't have any of the fancy profile options, forums, emojis, chat, etc that steam has. It's just a generic game launcher and they give away free games every week to try to get more users. But they're the developer of fortnite so they already have probably millions of users already since it's required to play that game on pc. I have roughly 50 something games with them and I never even put my credit card in their system. I just log on once a week and claim the free games. Or like right now I log in once a day. I got world War z free from them earlier this year, I haven't tried it yet tho. I got gta5 from them early this year to and I have it installed but haven't played it yet. I guess people complain because they are steam fans like Xbox and Playstation fans complain and try to maintain some loyalty? I actually add all my games to steam with the "add a non steam game to your library", then I make the shortcut the link to the game and it launches fine from steam. I'm currently playing starcraft2 on steam. I launch the steam link app from my living room on my nvidia shield, it connects to my pc, I launch starcraft 2, that link launched the battlenet launcher and then I'm playing sc2 through steam. I can do the same with games from epic games. I got Ghostbusters remastered free through epic on Halloween, installed it, added it as a non steam game and now I play it in my living room thru the steam app to. I only played it for a few mins to make sure it worked. I'm not sure why people wouldn't want free games just because it's on a different game launcher. I know they got crap for different exclusives or timed exclusive deals but it all plays on pc so I don't get why people really care. 🤔 1 slippers reacted to this
Kenanel 1 Report post Posted December 17, 2021 Of course I like that epic games constantly distributes various games, but compared to steam, the epic store is just terrible. In the epic games store, you can't go into manuals, discussions, you can't post a screenshot from the game. 1 Sledgstone reacted to this
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted December 17, 2021 The Epic Game store is still lacking so many features compared to Steam. Hard to believe it launched 3 years ago and it still looks and functions the same as back then. I'm still collecting all the free games, but aside from Ghostbusters, I haven't played any of my other free games from them yet.
Kenanel 1 Report post Posted February 16, 2022 It's one of my favourites games and I think that it's a very popular one.
