Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2007/07/27/smart_floors_co.html There's free energy floating around everywhere. The trick is figuring out how to harness it. Some smartypants at MIT are working on a special floor that harnesses energy from footsteps, turning your walking into lighting above your head. The fancy, efficient floors could be used in commuter-heavy areas like airports or shopping malls, helping cut down on energy consumption and making such places more self-reliant. The floors will feel a bit different than normal floors however, depressing a bit when stepped on. The effect will feel like walking on solid sand, so we'll have to wait and see if that odd sensation will prevent people from installing it. Somehow I think that if it saves money, people will get over sinking in a bit with each step. — Adam Frucci Thats pretty sweet.
Mathias 426 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Daddy, I think I just stepped in something. No, no, it's okay, the floors supposed to feel like that. But Daddy, it's not the floor. Ah crap, the baby in front of us is missing his diaper. Honey, I need some help here. Understand this lad, fate is a fickle lady. Work with the hand you're dealt and you may just be able to run your flag up the pole. Don't, and well, you may just find your mast cut down.
