80gb ps3 coming to EU

im pissed, ive had my 40gb one for 3 months, and it is now discontinued, the 80gb one will lack backwards compatability X_x

and for the same damn price i paid for 40gb

i dought i will ever use my 40gb HDD fully, so no point is getting a new one,

people can upgrade their own HDD to what ever they want using PC parts tbh. i really dont see why sony are doing this,

it has pissed me off personally

Europe seems to get screwed a lot when it comes to the gaming industry.

The original 60 gig was the best model, because of its very high backwards compatible rate. Lucky for me, I was an early adopter.

We have/had 80 gig and 40 gig models here, but the 80 gig had BC.

i dont understand that if sony is losing so much money, why do they keep discontinuing models and making new ones?

Every time they find a most cost efficient way to produce a console they probably change the model, along with social market trends to provide a less expensive product by tailoring it to social preference.

I just checked and in the US we still have the 80GB and 40GB models. Sony has only changed the configurations once. 60/20 to 80/40. The 20 was quickly discontinued because it lacked wifi and sold poorly because of it.

in europe we had 60gb (as you said it had a good bacwards compatability) and an assortment of media card readers (for camerias and stuff)

this was discontinued pretty fast

then the 40gb for cheaper, no bc, less usb ports and no media card readers

now an 80gb, same price as the 40gb, and same spec, no bc, no media card readers
