Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted September 28, 2008 http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/13375.html Johnny Depp has signed to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland (see "Tim Burton to Make Alice in Wonderland"), as presented at a Disney event at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and reported by the Hollywood trades and others. Burton and Depp have worked together frequently throughout their careers on films that have become cult and merchandise hits, and Alice has the potential to join that list. The studio also announced that Depp will reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and will play Tonto in the upcoming Lone Ranger film (see “Lone Ranger Update in the Works”). The other big news at the event was primarily about Disney’s animated line-up. Cars 2 will be moved up to summer 2011 from 2012 (see "Disney Going 3-D"), and in the run-up, a series of animated Cars shorts will be shown on Disney Channel and before films in the theater. A new theme park attraction based on Cars will also open in Anaheim in 2011. He'll do a good Mad Hatter.

DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted September 29, 2008 Wow. Disney is going to run their best trilogy into the ground. PoTC3 was a good way to end it. Unless its just a Jack Sparrow movie, their going to overdo it. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 I found this link but I don't know if its accurate or not. http://family.go.com/blog/mom_pop_culture/disney-announces-tons-of-new-movies-----and-johnny-depp-is-in-lots-of--em--674165/ Most exciting to me: Depp has signed on to star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland! Holding the mantle as one of my favorite books of all time, with Burton as one of my favorite directors of all time, Alice will be shot using 3-D and the kind of performance capture technology used for films like The Polar Express and Beowulf. Beowulf styled Alice in Wonderland. *edit* looks like that movie will be a 3-D styled one: http://movies.about.com/od/deppjohnny/a/disneydepp92308.htm As for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Cook announced Depp will be playing The Mad Hatter. The film will be shot in 3-D and will combine live-action footage with performance capture. Disney is aiming for a March 10, 2010 release date.
Zepling 100 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 I was really hoping that Alice in Wonderland would be live action. Quote Mayor Quimby I'll admit I used the city treasury to fund the murder of my enemies, but as Gabbo would say, I'm a bad wittle boy.
