Nightmare on Elm Street Relaunch Gets Its Director

The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Business Blog has gotten early word on who will be helming the Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street and it's none other than music video director Samuel Bayer, the man responsible for MTV's introduction to grunge in the form of Nirvana's award-winning "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video.

No word on when production will start on the movie that was being scripted by Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia), but Bayer is also slated to helm the Platinum Dunes thriller Fiasco Heights according to the story, which you can read here.

Jason n Freddie are two different kindza killers ya allz. Jason is all slash and no commentary *much like Michael Myers* whereas Freddy fucks with you for a while before he kills you playing his twisted game of cat and mouse. Freddy also has a (albeit sick) sense of humor.

Jason usually gets no lines in his movies, Freddy will talk your ear off... Very different characters even if they both are un-dead~ish serial killers

The friday the 13 remake looks like Jason slash brought into this decade, should be good. It would be kinda hard to fuck up Jason and his story. Its so basic and doesn't really involve any serious acting; Freddy however has personality.

It would be kool to see Freddy and Nancy fight it out in this century, casting is going to be crucial to make the remake work

Rob Zombie is a pretty good director of horror flicks. After seeing how fucked up Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 corpses were, I think he would have a done an insane job with Freddy. He's a pretty good visionary when it comes to wacky shit like that.
