Dubird 6,815 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 oooooo.....shiney..... Seriously, though, I've never had problems with AMD. You will definatlly need a very good cooling fan for it, but in my experience, an AMD CPU will perform just as well as it's equvilant Intell, for a lower price. DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I use AMD. I've never had a problem with it. Mine is liquid cooled though, so I couldn't really say if they heat up more than a intel under a regular fan and heat sink. Quote GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON! Dubird 6,815 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Intel tend to shut down before damage from heat happens. AMD isn't as good about that, and when they fail from heat, there's not as much chance of recovery by replacing the cooling system. But as long as you have a good cooling system, there should be no trouble. They only time I've had a problem is when my cooling fan failed and I didn't realize it right away. gokuDX7 2,871 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I'm a huge AMD fanboy even though they've fallen behind Intel in terms of speed and performance. Their processors are rock solid. I've never had a problem with any of their processors. I use normal heatsinks and never had issues with them overheating either. The processor you picked out is one of their newer top of the lines so you should be happy with it. Quote All hail piggy, king of bacon ^)^
Flying_Monkey 500 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 Always been an intel fan myself They have always seemed to have preformed better for me than AMD. But I'm also just a die hard Intel fan Quote LOL
