Ladywriter 7,783 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 4real Why is CNN promoting right-wing paranoid conspiracy theories aboutPresident Obama's birth certificate? The fringe ideas of the so-called "birthers" have been thoroughly debunked.1 But CNN host Lou Dobbs perpetuates these myths by constantly talking about them on his shows and asserting that Obama still needs to "produce a birth certificate." This is not responsible journalism. Our friends at Media Matters have launched a campaign calling on CNN to address its Lou Dobbs problem--but a lot of us are going to have to speak out in order to get CNN's attention. Clicking here will add your name to their petition: http://civ.moveon.org/stopdobbs/o.pl?id=16689-11954441-sH9OFex&t=7 The petition reads: Dobbs' relentless promotion of outlandish conspiracy theories about President Barack Obama's birth certificate seriously damages CNN's credibility. It is time for "The Most Trusted Name in News" to prove it deserves viewers' trust. We the undersigned demand CNN address its Lou Dobbs problem in a credible manner. Numerous reporters, including CNN's own hosts, have debunked the idea that Obama wasn't really born in the U.S.2 Nevertheless, Dobbs has repeatedly claimed on both his television and radio shows that the birth certificate the president posted online more than a year ago has "some issues"3--and lashed out at "lily-livered lefties" who criticized him. CNN's reputation is on the line. Their president, Jon Klein, has admitted that anyone who "is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef"--but he has refused to correct the situation.4 CNN needs to hear that allowing Dobbs' to promote "birther" conspiracy theories is simply irresponsible. Please sign the petition by clicking here: http://civ.moveon.org/stopdobbs/o.pl?id=16689-11954441-sH9OFex&t=8 Thank you for your help in holding CNN accountable. --Justin, Eli, Lenore, Michael and the rest of the team Look at the flowers

Kite 3,263 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 why should he produce a birth certificate? He was elected by fair democratic vote, everything else is moot Bruce Campbell: '' This place has more security then the Batcave ''
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 why should he produce a birth certificate? He was elected by fair democratic vote, everything else is moot Because if he was found out to be not born in this country he would be removed immediately, and Biden would become president. It wouldn't be a moot point at all if it was a real issue. GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!

Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 Damn the electoral college! Popular vote should be the standard!
DeathscytheX 9,732 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 I like the electoral college system, but I think it needs to be fixed. I think Cali, FL, TX and NY should have a good 10-15 points shaved off their values and distribute 1-2 points each to the bottom 30 states. That way Canidates spend time in more states then just those 4. GET A NEW FUNK ON BEFORE YOU GET DUMPED ON!

Kite 3,263 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 I never really understood why the voting process was done by states as opposed to each individual getting their vote counted as 1 Bruce Campbell: '' This place has more security then the Batcave ''
Sledgstone 8,672 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 Our voting system is way outdated. At one point in time it actually made sense, but now, regardless if the electoral system stays in place or not, its not entirely fair. Like when Al Gore ran for president against George Bush. Al Gore got more votes than Bush, but was not elected president because he didn't get the most electoral college votes. It all boiled down to who would win Florida and guess what, Bush's brother was governor of the state of Florida. *coughstolenelectioncough* I like the electoral college system, but I think it needs to be fixed. I think Cali, FL, TX and NY should have a good 10-15 points shaved off their values and distribute 1-2 points each to the bottom 30 states. That way Canidates spend time in more states then just those 4. Yeah, if they keep the electoral college they should divide the points up more. *kicks Nebraska and Maine for being able to split their electoral college votes*
