Ladywriter 7,783 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 You can tell the Arctic ringed seal by the ring-shapedmarks on its coat. But like other inhabitants of the Arctic region, the ringed seal's numbers are dwindling due to human activity. Take action to save the Arctic ringed seal >> http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFOFv/zJKU/ANR12 Oil and gas exploration is destroying much of the ringed seal's range, and global warming is impacting its food supply. Cod is a favorite of ring seals during the ice-free season, but it's highly contaminated with mercury. As global warming extends the ice-free season, ring seals are eating more and more contaminated cod. The mercury contamination will only get worse for the Arctic ringed seal unless we start to seriously address global warming! More research is needed to see just how the transfer of mercury in the food web is being affected by global warming. Urge Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to ensure his department puts resources behind investigating the impact of global warming on the Arctic >> http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFOFv/zJKU/ANR12 Thank you, LiAnna Care2 and ThePetitionSite Team they're so cuuuuuuute~ Look at the flowers
