    Backwards Society

Was just thinking about how backwards some things really are in life like if your sick you have to walk to the back of the supermarket to buy medicine, yet if you wish to buy cigarettes to poison yourself and everyone around you it is right at the front door How banks charge the poor for not having money and reward the rich by giving them more money How if you want to get a home phone line installed, you have to phone up to arrange it how you need to show id to get a replacement to your ID you lost that you are better off being unemployed then on a low wage anyone got anything to add

    How Gullible Are We?

H2O: Dangerous Chemical! A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide." And for plenty of good reasons, since: it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting it is a major component in acid rain it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state accidental inhalation can kill you it contributes to erosion it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical. The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?" Forty-three (43) said yes, six (6) were undecided, and only one (1) knew that the chemical was water. He feels the conclusion is obvious. This was found on the newsgroup: rec.humor.funny Why do people not know what water is? Better yet how do people not know what water is? (...I fear the answers to these questions...)

For the third time I've heard them try and push their viewers to fight against Net Neutrality without even explaining what it is to their uneducated viewers. They claim Net Neutrality is bad because it allows ISPs, company's, and the government control over your Internet. The reality of it is Fox has it backwards. Like the name implies Net Neutrality is the act of keeping the net free and unregulated like it has been since it was created. Every since Senator McCain proposed his backwards ass "Internet Freedom Act." bill to congress, Fox News and other media outlets have been pushing this uneducated babble that Net Neutrality and the FCC are bad LOL. Here's some videos for those that are still confused [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWt0XUocViE]YouTube - Save the Internet![/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9jHOn0EW8U]YouTube - Net Neutrality[/ame] The reason this is blowing up so big now is because ISP's have been throttling and prioritizing web traffic, specifically bittorrent, and getting attacked by the FCC because of it. ISPs are complaining that the FCC hasnt given a fine line on what they can and cant do so they go a head with such practices of prioritizing certain program protocols on the Internet (ex. VoIP phones). So the FCC has stepped up and will be making that fine line clear so ISPs wont have any more excuses on what they can and cant do. The FCC will not be taking away our freedom or give ISPs the power to prioritize programs. They're fighting for us yet the media has it all backwards.

    Star Trek Discovery

Kinda unrelated... but I miss the days when technology kinda forced the tone of Star Trek battles.... unlike Star Wars, they were more like lumbering slow paced naval battles with big payoffs. While its cool to see 36 phazer beams and 50 photons flying out of star ships... eh. I kinda miss the tension. These two will always be my favorite.

This. Bungie stayed professional about losing all the rights to the IP they created. They parted ways without being nasty publicly. But if you read the articles at that time, everyone could see they got screwed hard. Sony swooped in, embraced them and it has paid off. It was a golden opportunity to finally have access to the company that revolutionized FPS. Bungie even had part in PS4's controller design, which means they were given unprecedented access to Sony's stuff in regards to next gen. Bungie felt the love and is returning it while Xbox One and 360 is just a cash cow for them as of right now. It reminds me of Nintendo and Rare back in the 90s. I understand why MS did what they did... but they didn't go about doing it the right way. They were mad that Bungie wanted to go 3rd party, so they intentionally tried to hurt them. The fans have to suffer, but they should be blaming MS, not Bungie... they're too caught up in the fanboyism of it all.
  27. 3 points
F'in whiners. I hope they realize that outside of the money Sony threw at Activision to get the special treatment for Destiny that Bungie is probably doing this as a slam in Microsoft's face for the way they treated them during their time developing Halo for them. Honestly MS screwed Bungie by taking the rights to Halo as part of the deal for them to leave but Destiny is already a much better game then Halo ever was (don't get me wrong I love the Halo series but honestly giving the game to 343 was, imo, the worst thing they could of done for the series) and I'm happy Sony is get preferential treatment with it. Make me even happier that I bought a PS4.

it was good to see Ragnar and Bjorn reunited. And what Lagertha had to do to convince her new husband to help clearly shows how much she still loves Ragnar. As for poor little princess Aslaug, who had to suffer the dirty conditions..geesh, I'm not liking her character anymore than how she started. She can learn a thing or two from Siggy and Lagertha...theres more to life than having babies...i hope they kill her off soon...frustrating to see her complaining...ok we get it, your father was Sigurd

    That gun debate thing

A gun ban is just a "big government" agenda. We can talk about assault rifles all day but if you go to the FBI's website and look at the numbers, more people are killed by knifes, hammers, and even hands and feet. These individual categories out number ALL rifles put into its own category. Another interesting note is that from 2008-2011 the number of homicides have gone down. The US ranks 28th in the world in gun violence per capita. What Piers Morgan won't tell you is that in the UK violent crime is 5 times higher per capita than in the US. Timothy McVeigh single handedly killed more Americans in one event and didn't use a single firearm. You can still buy fertilizer to this day. People are quick to act on emotion while throwing any kind of logic out of the window... That's why we have the patriot act, that's why the gov can tap your cell with no warrant, and that's why they are trying to restrict guns now. Any freedom we are willing to give up, Uncle Sam will be happy to take it away from you weather it's Democrat or Republican.

    Water damage.... rant

Cellular / mobile phone. where in that name does it say water proof, yes , rain is water, no where does it say they are designed to work in the rain, get it wet internally it cannot be repaired, and isn't in the warranty. there mobile, they work all around the world, and on the move, in the car, upside down, hell there pretty versatile, BUT there not designed for weather conditions, you got a problem with that, consult the manufacture phone nokia and say, hey you finnish mofo's. why is my phone broken after some light rain, dont moan at your air time provider. the amount of phones coming back from repair as water damage and customer moaning at me can fuck themselves saying; what am i going to do about it, they joined a 2 year contract and now no phone and im supposed to fix it how... well fucktard, every customer is offered insurance, don't pay don't expect a phone for stupidity a contract is for air time, a sim card that can receive and make calls with a number of minutes, text and data use. the phone is the medium to make use of this, however the phone is given for free for signing a long agreement with us. we are not replacing the phone, we are not obligated to, ill replace the sim card a 100times if needed for no charge, i don't give a shit if you refuse to pay your line rental, we will destroy your credit history to the stone age where you will be refused change from a vending machine. it is simple. pay insurance and we will replace the phone if it is broken, lost or stolen dont pay, why will we replace a phone FYI the average phone contract takes 9 months for a company to break even. 30% if all revenue per sale is generally hardware cost alone. we make no money from insurance if you claim at least once. technically we lose money this is a general rant, i hate customers sorry for the rant, just blowing off steam in a healthy way, i still smile and be as friendly as i can to every customer ...

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6835364.ece Barack Obama has called Kanye West a "jackass" for interrupting an MTV awards show to declare that the wrong person had won. The outspoken rapper was drowned out with boos at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night when he grabbed the microphone from the young country star Taylor Swift and announced that Beyonce had made a better video. Asked about the row during an interview with CNBC, President Obama appeared to sum up the national mood pretty well, albeit undiplomatically. The problem was that his remark was made during an off-the-record part of the interview which was not going to be made public. Terry Moran, an ABC reporter who was at the recording and overheard the comment, then broke the agreement by deciding to tweet it. "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," he wrote. Mr Moran quickly deleted the tweet but it was too late. The Nightline co-anchor has more than a million followers on Twitter, many of whom had already re-tweeted his remarks. The network was forced to apologise to CNBC and the White House and said that it was taking steps to avoid a repeat of the incident. Meanwhile, West himself apologised once again for his outburst on an appearance on Jay Leno's new prime time talk show and said that he was going to take some time off for reflection. West said that he knew he had been wrong the moment he handed the microphone back to Swift, when he was bathed in boos from the audience. “It was rude, period,” West said. The star posted a second apology to Swift on his blog yesterday and told Leno that he wanted to apologise to her in person. West fell silent when Leno asked what his mother would have said about the incident, but finally admitted that she would have told him off. West was very close to his mother, Donda, who died in November 2007. “So many celebrities, they never take the time off,” he said. “I’ve never taken the time off to really - you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt." getting called a jackass by the president is an achievement LOL

from: http://www.physorg.com/news171545860.html I wonder just how viable this idea is. I mean, I don't it would ever replace all our current energy producers, but I do think it would be a step in a good direction. Though, it would have to withstand the punishment that current road paving does, or it wouldn't be worth it. I do like the idea of electric cars able to recharge themselves as they drive. That alone would make it worthwhile, even if that's all they could do.

OMFG awsome!!!!!! vs wolverine was less of a fight between them, but was more accurate to his origin AKA how he got the adamantium. wolverine tore though people how he was ment to, deadpool was really funny too ;p Vs Thor, i didnt think this would have been good, as i assumed good vs evil, thor being the good, and the usual outcome, but this wasnt predictable at all what i dont get is wolverine seemed to do better against hulk then a god ;p wolverine is tough, but he gets to much writer love. overall really good animation, voiceing, and story both are 35-40 mins, no filler moments, great pace and really enjoyable id say 10/10 for enjoyment

I got an email about this today so I did a little research. Here is what I found. I figured I would post this anyway just in case some of you did not know about this. You may have heard this, or noticed that these products have been removed from the shelves. Discard these Medications subject: Phenylpropanolamine Stop taking anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine. The following medications contain Phenylpropanolamine: Alka-Seltzer Plus Children's Cold Medicine Effervescent Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold medicine (cherry or orange) Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine Original Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Cough Medicine Effervescent Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Flu Medicine Effervescent Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Sinus Effervescent Alka Seltzer Plus Nighttime cold Medicine Effervescent BC Allergy Sinus Cold Powder BC Sinus Cold Powder Comtrex Deep Chest Cold & Congestion Relief Comtrex Flu Therapy & Fever Relief Day & Night Contac 12-Hour Cold Capsules Contac 12 Hour Caplets Coricidin D Cold, Flu & Sinus Dimetapp Cold & Allergy Chewable Tablets Dimetapp Cold & Cough Liqui-Gels Dimetapp DM cold & Cough Elixir Dimetapp Elixir Dimetapp 4 Hour Liqui Gels Dimetapp 4 Hour Tablets Dimetapp 12 Hour Extentabs Tablets Naldecon DX Pediatric Drops Permathene Mega-16 Robitussin CF Tavist-D 12 Hour Relief of Sinus & Nasal Congestion Triaminic DM Cough Relief Triaminic Expectorant Chest & Head Congestion Triaminic Syrup Cold & Allergy Triaminic Triaminicol Cold & Cough Acutrim Diet Gum Appetite Suppressant Plus Dietary Supplements Acutrim Maximum Strength Appetite Control Dexatrim Caffeine Free Dexatrim Extended Duration Dexatrim Gelcaps Dexatrim Vitamin C/Caffeine Free Please discard any of these medications as soon as possible Update: Most if not all of the products listed above which formerly contained phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride have been reformulated to eliminate the ingredient. Consumer questions about phenylpropanolamine and its potential health hazards may be directed to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at 1-888-INFO-FDA. Some manufacturers of over-the-counter medicines containing phenylpropanolamine have offered refunds to consumers who purchased the products before they were voluntarily recalled in late 2000. To inquire about the availability of such refunds, dial the 800-number for consumer questions listed on the product packaging. Comments by Carla Homan: This email has it mostly right. In November 2000, the FDA issued a public health advisory about phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride (PPA), the drug mentioned in the email. This drug is found in many over the counter (OTC) medicines, specifically in cold and flu remedies, as well as appetite suppressants. The drug will likely be banned, but because this process takes time, the FDA issued the health advisory in the meantime and manufacturers are voluntarily recalling and/or reformulating medicines containing PPA. The main problem with this drug is that it elevates your risk of having a hemorrhagic stroke, especially with (but not limited to) first time use among women. Because the uses of PPA are not serious enough to warrant taking even that small chance, the FDA recommends that you stop taking any medications containing the drug. Rather than looking at a limited list such as the one contained in the above email, you'd be better off checking the package of any cold, flu or appetite suppressant medication for the drug, which will appear in the list of active ingredients and may be listed as phenylpropanolamine, phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride, or phenylpropanolamine bitartrate. Many manufacturers offer several formulations of their cold and flu remedies, some of which do not contain PPA. Pseudoephedrine is an effective alternative to PPA for use in cold and flue preparations, but unfortunately, there is no approved alternative OTC drug for use in appetite suppressants. Therefore, if you are using any OTC medications to suppress your appetite for weight loss or other reasons, you should stop using the medicine and talk to your doctor about getting a prescription drug instead. Additionally, some prescription decongestants and cold and flu preparations contain PPA, so if you are using any prescription medicines for these purposes, talk to the prescribing doctor to see if you should continue using the medicine. One word of caution: Though the email states your risk is for "increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication," don't think you are safe if you've used the drug for longer than three days. The three-day window was merely one of the guidelines used in the study that prompted the health advisory; for the study, they defined PPA exposure as having used PPA within three days prior to the stroke. Risk of stroke may be present after three days of use. For detailed information, see the final report of the Hemorrhagic Stroke Project, Web-published by the FDA. As always, your best resources for reliable information on medicines and medical conditions are your own physician and pharmacist.

Would you live in a dome?

http://dvice.com/archives/2008/08/styrofoam_dome.php Check out the pictures, they actually look decent on the inside. If you got four of them connected, you could live in a pretty good sized dome home. I wonder if you could flip one of the domes upside down, bury it to ground level and connect the top dome to it... Then you could live in a duplex sphere. I'd get one and layer dirt up the sides and on top, grow grass all over it and live like a hobbit.
