Steam Machine.. I liked Steam Box, but I'm guessing they didn't want to be confused with X Box.. Steam Station wouldn't have worked either.. so Steam Machine sounds fitting. I just checked the beta participation, "There are currently 77,984 eligible beta candidates.." We have better odds than winning the Mega Millions Lottery!

I almost forgot about playstation mobile. I remember seeing some game for it before but I've never looked into it. Thanks for the link.

Hahaha.. Thats why whenever I see someone else blast an area with smoke, I'll throw a grenade in there immediately. Some people have smartened up and I've been killed by grenades a few times.. but so many people will react completely surprised and run.. Another thing I love to do is throw a grenade on a dead enemy. As soon as I kill someone I'll throw a grenade right on them to make sure they don't get revived and if someone is rushing in to get squad revives for that combat medic assignment, boom! Double kill.

Once I start playing BF4, I'll probably focus more on Engineer and Recon.. now that recon will have c4 and claymores, it'll be a much more useful class. I like having fun, if I'm getting my ass handed to me for some reason, I'll switch my entire play style. I'll go from sniping and MAVing an area to Assault and play medic. I really like the m320 smoke. Almost nobody uses it, but I'll smoke a corpse near me, run in, get the revive and run back out. Its funny how people react to things, If I see some people hiding behind cover, I'll launch a smoke grenade at them and sit back.. they assume someone on my team is about to run up and knife them, but nobody is coming for them.. they freak out and rush to get out of the smoke.. then I pick them off as they emerge from the cloud. Its like all the EOD Bot kills I get.. I should be getting assists with it more frequently.. If you drive that bot through some areas, people will run out from cover just to destroy that damn bot. lmao. I tell everyone to follow my bot because everyone takes a shot at it. And because of that one assignment for destroying enemy equipment with a grenade, people will stupidly lob grenades at it while I drive thru an area. Because people will take shots at it, I can usually see them standing out in the open as I drive in slight banking left and right pattern while I easily close the distance and torch their feet for the kill. I look at the assignments and use them against people. If theres a new assignment for c4 vehicle destroys, I will drive that tank right into a suburban area with reactive armor on, have a buddy in the gunner seat with proximity scan, and with me using canister shell we can usually sit back and pick off all these idiots running up to suicide themselves. Once one of those assignments are on, so many ppl stop RPGing.. everyone is running support with C4. Easy pickings.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (spoilers)

Cool! Thanks for the links! Once I beat the games I'll try out some out. -
I've found plenty of 100 star colonials on PS3 that dominate with guns. Almost all of them use assault rifles and I've noticed that they never switch their guns during games and appear to focus on just one gun, get the timing perfect and use that loadout almost exclusively. I think most of them on PS3 are TDM maniacs and quite a few are jet whores. I don't usually have a problem if theres only one on a team, but its so common now to see every team stacked with them because of server admins moving players in between matches. Aside from jet whores and TDM freaks, I've only come across maybe 2 truly skilled players that dominated completely. Me and one of my brothers were playing conquest, we were off in some hills away from the flags and I was soflaming everything in the air while he took them out with a javelin... I was farther away from him and remotely controlling the soflam so we wouldn't both get knifed while we focused on the air.. then this guy comes flying over a hill in a scout helicopter, insanely low, we got him laser designated, javelin shot off.. he hit flares and survived the blast. As he was flying towards my soflam, he destroyed it with the helicopter gun, rammed my brother with the helicopter as he was landing, getting a road kill.. jumps out and starts repairing the helicopter.. thats when I brought my scope up on my L96 to snipe him.. only to see him quick scope me with a sniper rifle, get a head shot on me, then instant headshot my bro who had just respawned on me, and then went back to repairing, then flew off and started killing more people.. It took me a minute to realize that he was playing as recon the entire time.. he rammed and killed my bro who was an engineer, picked up his kit to repair, re-picked up his recon kit to snipe us both and then picked up the repair torch again.. the guy was an expert and reminded me of those 100 star colonials in the BFF cartoons.

The first episode was decent. I wasn't expecting it to be like the major movies in tv form.. instead the series is going to focus on 5 Shield agents and I'm getting the feeling that this series will be similar to Syfy's Alphas, except much better. Coulson spoiler:

Christmas trees are already at walmart.. I'm surprised the salvation army guys aren't outside ringing bells yet. gah..
-
As soon as Christmas is over, Valentines candy will be in, and as soon as Feb 20th Easter candy will be in. Then after that 4th of July promos start. Working in retail really makes the years go by so fast.
-
No shit. We've had Halloween candy since the end of June and costumes since the end of July. I'm surprised we don't have Christmas trees yes.

I think I said it wrong.. its limited players / server renters that put the CQ maps into rotation.. I'll always find a zeba tower 24/7 and a few others, but most servers are always full.. especially the official EA servers. I'll usually find maybe 1 or 2 pages of joinable servers.. nothing compared to searching for original maps on conquest.. I'll get 30 pages of servers to jump into easily. The biggest problem I have with the CQ maps is all the hundred star colonials. Hardcore no life bastards running CQ servers.. and of course the guy running the server has all of them on the same team.. I either have to go into a que on an EA server and wait 5+ mins to get started into a game, or join a server with a bunch of level 6 guys versus a team of colonials that know exactly where everyone will spawn.

I don't think the PlayStation service would allow modding. Depending on the license of the software, everyone might be buying access license to a game as opposed to the complete software license. Access would mean that PS could have entire servers of the games setup with a certain amount of users all being able to login at once, individually to access and play that one installation of the game.. which means that any modifications or updates to that server would affect all users playing it.. so no personal customizations would be possible.. but if everyone owns a full license to all of their games, then they would have to have numerous installations of all of those games on their servers and every user would be able to access and stream their own individual installation... but I doubt that will be how it works, and even then I doubt Sony would allow mods on their servers.. What they would have to do is allow modifications to run on the console end. There would have to be some kind of mod that doesn't install on the game, but instead runs as an application that modifies the game as it's being streamed.. I don't think that will happen.. Without access to the core game files, the most modifications I could see happening for streaming games would be visual only.. like changing the outfits of the characters or enemies and environment.. but that wouldn't allow any new game features or new modified actions or abilities. It'll be a very different system from Steam. With Steam, you have the full game, all mods, etc.. but your games will only play as good as the computer you have them installed on.. but with a Playstation streaming service, you could basically have a small hdmi dongle plugged into your tv, use a PS4 controller and play the games in their full quality, max settings and never have to worry about buying a new video card ever again.. Of course you'll also need a fast internet connection.. probably 2-5 Mbps up and at least 30Mbps down from what I was reading. My laptop is a Sony Vaio and it has the remote play option for PS3. I was all excited at first to try it out.. I thought I'd be able to play PS3 games on the PS3 and stream the game to my laptop over the internet or over wifi.. I was wrong. remote play on laptops only supports playing downloaded video and audio content.. and the quality of the visuals was crap.. I used it maybe twice and never bothered trying it again. But I will give Sony some props for it.. Considering the PS3 is running 7 year old tech and it can stream laggy / pixeled movies to my computer over the internet while playing the movie from the console at home.. its very interesting... I can only assume that after 7 years they now know what they're doing. Streaming PS4 games to Vita sounds like it will work fine, same with their gaikai game streaming. PS5 with 3D printer would be great.. They'd put gamestop out of business.. All the collector's edition games that come with a limited edition figurine if you pre-order wouldn't be limited to just physical game purchases.. Pre-order God of War 8 and the PS5 will print your Kratos figure right there! No waiting for delivery!

I think I'll finish the game first and then check to see what mods are available. I know I'll definitely want the mods for KOTOR 2 considering they extend the story. Do you know a good site to get them from? -
We had a previous topic about the trailer for it: http://www.ancientclan.com/topic/12746-marvels-agents-of-shield-first-promo/ I'm definitely looking forward to it. It's coming on in a half hour here.. I'll be watching it. I hope they explain Coulson's resurrection in the first episode.

In an interesting interview with a Sony executive, it appears that Sony's long term goal is to have "PlayStation" be a service as well as a hardware platform. Using their Gaikai tech, they envision streaming games to PCs, tablets, PlayStation hardware, etc. With this news, everyone's PlayStation account could be the equivalent of a Steam account.. and instead of downloading a game from your steam library and then playing it, the PlayStation service would allow you to chose a game from your PS library and instantly start playing it / streaming it from the PS Gaikai servers. I've played the hell out of BF3 and I've only played Gun Master maybe 20 times and only because it was in a map rotation. I try to avoid it at all costs. I like the Close Quarters maps, but because of the limited number of players for those maps, theres hardly any servers for them and when there are, gun master likes to rear its ugly head.

I like that the paint unlocks for all guns and vehicles.. this means no more assignments just to unlock a particular camo for just one gun.

Wow.. thats pretty huge.. Instead of running steam on a linux os, it will be their own dedicated Steam OS with linux at its core.. If someone could get a bootloader for the new consoles working, the PS4 or Xbox One could potentially be the new steam box.. I'm sure Sony and MS will release any updates they can to prevent OS swapping or dual booting on their machines tho. This is definitely setting the ground work for a steam box. With their own free OS, that could cut the price off a cheap computer by a couple hundred dollars by not having to bundle it with Windows 8.. and with it being their own OS, they will maintain bug fixes and fix all software issues just like how the consoles push updates.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (spoilers)

Not yet.. I took a month off the game. I ended up playing more multiplayer with my brothers and then got sidetracked with Portal 2 and couple other games. I plan on getting back to KOTOR soon. -
I guess I'm lucky I got the slim model. I think the hottest PSU I've ever felt is the Gamecubes. That thing was about 1/4 of the size of the entire console and it would heat up pretty hot after a couple hours. I never noticed until I went to unplug something and I noticed the heat kicking off it. My laptop PSU has never even been that hot.

Those original PS3s must have really kicked off some serious heat.. I guess you weren't kidding about it being a space heater.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2013/07/15/201490397/How-Hackers-Tapped-Into-My-Verizon-Cellphone-For-250 I originally heard this story back in July and I figured I'd post a topic about it. Cellphone companies have to ensure that people can use their service in their homes, but many newer homes have great roofing insulation.. so good that it blocks RF signals aka cellphone service as a side effect. So the cellphone companies made a product called a femtocell to give people in blackout areas or low signal areas full cellphone service. My brother had one of these when he was using Sprint. It connected to his high speed internet and he got a much better signal. These femtocells can be bought in electronic stores and online.. The range on these are small.. If someone is going to spy on you, it'll most likely be a neighbor in an apartment building where more people could be affected. Your phone will not show any roaming bars or give you any notification that you are on a femtocell (some might give you a double dial tone but only when making a call, not receiving one).. the phone will look like its on a regular connection and you will never know if someone is reading all your texts or recording your calls. Now think about how easily the police or NSA can listen in..

Windows 8 might be saved and changed by Windows Blue
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Science & Technology
6gb of ram should be fine, thats what lady's laptop is running. I'll help you with it.. do you have the disks that came with the laptop? If it didn't come with disks, you should be able to make recovery disks. As long as you have those, we could wipe the laptop and do a fresh install, that way all the drivers will be installed.. then we could upgrade it to win 7.. it should keep the drivers and auto update them so the install goes smoother.- 18 replies

Star Wars KOTOR.. I was able to not see any spoilers for this game for years.. only to be completely shocked by the destruction of Taris.. all that hard work I did.. gone. wtf. There are so many moments from Last of Us.. Joel interrogating these two guys really surprised me.. I knew Joel was brutal.. but holy shit..
