I played a couple hours of God of War last night. Holy shit this game is beautiful upscaled to 4k with HDR on. I never realized my regular ps4 could output such quality. I've been missing out on a substantial quality upgrade for years because I didn't think a 4k tv would be much of an improvement. But damn that HDR makes sun light literally look like sun light. I'm guessing alot of the recent ps4 games must all be hdr compatible. I turned on last of us remastered and it had hdr available to. For $6 during this black Friday sale I went ahead and bought it so I could gift the disk copy my friend was borrowing.

Black friday sales started early so I bought a 4k HDR 50 inch samsung tv. I'm pleased with it. The blacks this tv gets still blows my mind. I doubt I'll buy a PS4pro, but in the mean time my regular PS4 has HDR.. but I only have one game that actually takes advantage of it and thats Uncharted 4. I don't think I'll be replaying it any time soon just to see the graphical difference, but regardless this tv upscales like a champ. Everything looks significantly better. Thats a hell of a lot better upscaling than blu ray players do for dvds. Its a night and day difference.
I put on Rise of the Tomb Raider last night and Battlefield 1 and the quality is top notch. Game mode works with HDR for this tv, so I can put on game mode for reduced input lag which is nice without affecting quality. It also has bitstream audio pass through which works great with my old receiver for surround sound.
The tv has Motion rate 120 instead of true 120 hz refresh rate which I didn't know was a different thing when I was buying the tv. But thats ok, I doubt the PS5 when it eventually comes out will even come close to 60 fps at 4k and my current pc graphics card will no way in hell do any better than 60 fps at 4k so I'm pretty much set for future proofing at the moment.. at least for the next 4-5 years probably. And motion rate 120 is a bit nuts. I had to turn the judder down on that. It makes everything so fluid its like everything was filmed like a soap opera.
I never realized more fps on a movie would look so different. But the biggest downside is for animated titles. It cause a bit too much of a blur effect as the tv basically fills in the games to increase the fps.. its not good for animated shows.

I do think both the PS5 and Xbox will both hit 60fps at 4k. Thats the knock on the pro and S versions of the consoles now. While they are more powerful, they don't do this. The next generation on consoles will probably not have much of a polygon count increase like previous generations one uping the next. I think it will be more about dynamic lighting and shadows and how much can happen on the screen at once. We've reached a certain apex in graphics that will be pretty difficult to pass significantly.
We've gotten to a point though where graphics aren't everything anymore. God of War was spectacularly beautiful and is my favorite game of the PS4 era, but I had almost just as much fun playing Ys VIII which had PS3 graphics with current gen aspect ratio. I think there will still be a lot of games that don't hit the benchmark, but there will be Triple A games that do because they are expected too. With the whole shaky ground big studios are on right now though with microtransactions and pissing off their bases with flat out arrogance, I can see smaller studios getting even more love in the future. I want more Ys and Nier Automata and less annual titles. As long as its in HD and looks nice on my big ass TV screen, thats all I need.

I bet thats Blizzard trying to cover their own asses after reading that people would have taken the news better had they said anything about Diablo 4. Lol. They could have had a single wallpaper image and said "We're working on it!" but instead nothing. Then a couple days later.... "We planned to show something about Diablo 4..." Sure.. Sure they did.

I still haven't had the time to play any of the GW2 halloween event and it ends tomorrow.
but i did get the new entrance to my deck completed. I cut a good chunk of the wood fence off, reinforced it with pieces of 2x4, sanded it and reinforced adjacent parts of the deck with huge deck screws. I borrowed my friend's impact driver. Holy crap I need to buy one of these. That thing is beastly and amazing.

Another mobile game. Ehh. I'm still pissed they never made Warcraft 4. Screw WoW. I want another RTS warcraft game. WC3 remaster sounds good but yeah it's graphics still look solid to me even now. I'd love to see a WC2 remaster. That audience reaction at a mobile game announcement was priceless tho. 😂 there was probably 3 or 4 ppl on the audience that were happy and kept it to themselves. Those 3-4 ppl were the true target audience. The whales that will spend thousands a year on the game. Everyone else will just be a f2p gamer but all these companies care about are those few whales per thousands of players that will line their pockets with buckets of cash.

Thats a nice lineup. If it had any of the following it would have sold me: Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve, Any of the Breath of Fire games, Legend of Legaia, Xenogears, Chrono Cross. I've played FF7 so many times I can't start it again, and I sucked ass at Wild Arms because I kept running out of carrots (they refill MP). I eventually raged at Wild Arms for never having carrots and I quite the game and never played it again. MGS, Cool Borders 2, Syphon Filter and FF7 are all solid games for this though IMO. Its just a shame they don't have all the other classics I'd really want this system for.

I had to do an upgrade today do to a database error. Our themes are currently down until I get the time to upgrade them as well. Enjoy the blinding whiteness until then. lol.

The people that were renting the house I bought ended up breaking the stove and the master bathroom faucet. Over the last week I got my new gas stove, converted it to propane, got it hooked up, replaced my faucet... ran duct work and installed a new dryer vent.. the owner never installed a proper dryer vent. Their tenants must have been venting the dryer into insulation into the house.. wtf. I have more projects still.. I also have to change the faucet in the kitchen.
I hope I can finally be done with house work this weekend. My PS4 is still sitting in a plastic walmart bag and I have multiple boxes still left to unpack.

I've been too busy with moving and stuff. I didn't realize facebook login crippled the front page of AC unless you were logged in. I don't know when that started happening, but I've disabled facebook and twitter login for now until I have the time to resolve the issue.

I never want to move again. Almost every day for the last week has been rain and it's raining even now. It's hard to believe how much stuff two ppl can accumulate over 18 year's until you have to move it all under a time restriction.

Thanks Spectrum/Time Warner for shutting off my services in the middle of the work day. fml. I scheduled the new account activation at my new house for this weekend and for the old account at the house I'm renting to terminate as of monday.. so what does Spectrum do? Shut my account down 1 day before the new account is activated and a full 4 days before it was scheduled to close. wtf. It took me 40 mins on the phone for them to reactivate my internet so I could finish working. wtf.

Its amazing how you cant just call up the cable company and have them come out that day to hook you up, but they can come a day early to disconnect you.
Its such bullshit because it takes all of 10-15 minutes for them do to their job when they show up... but you need an appointment. It should be as basic as ordering pizza.

Lol. Its funny because Spectrum had a hell of a time at my new house this morning. The person that did the install last time did the grounding wire completely wrong and this guy had to call up another spectrum person for help. They dug up a trench and buried a cable. He was here just over 3 hours running brand new cable all over the place and hes got to come back again later to replace a phone line in a crawlspace.
At least I have good internet here now. I have 100 mbps connection, 10mpbs upload, no data caps and if I want to I can upgrade to the 1 gig plan here and have a 990+ mbps connection. Its actually a downgrade for me atm tho. The plan at my old house was 200 mbps standard. That would cost me extra now.

The last two chapters of One Punch Man have been the best action/fight scenes I've seen in a manga in years. Flashy Flash's fight was epic and focused on speed and technique. Huge props to the artist for how he drew a speed battle in manga form. Very impressive.

Damn... so I guess the final season won't be finished. Wtf. I wonder how that will work for ppl who already paid full price for the entire game. The biggest reason they failed imo is the design of their games. The games are content driven and not based on gameplay. Because of that nobody even had to buy one of their games when they could watch a let's play stream on YouTube or twitch and experience it exactly as if they were playing it themselves and not spend a penny on the game.

$600.. holy crap. Btw, after you make some bat houses you can put old timey moth balls in your attic to basically stink those bats right out. Once they see those houses they'll be more inclined to not return to the attic.. but moth balls stink to all hell. I'd only use them if your attic is sealed good from the rest of the house or your entire upstairs could end up stinking and moth balls are pretty toxic. Or if you have a cat, let it up there to harass the bats out. The cat might eat them tho. Good luck!

I'd install some bat houses. We have bats all over the place here but never had any in the attic. There's way too many trees around here for them to nest in. Mostly because woodpeckers tear up the trees and make great spots for them. Bat houses could be a good alternative. And bats are great. They eat alot of mosquitoes. A pro pest remover could remove them and seal whatever holes they are getting in from too.
