  1. I got my Steam Link in the mail today. Its a nice little device. But right off the bat I had an issue with it. Not with it per-say, but with Amazon. They shipped me a used Steam Link. wtf. All the stickers and tape were broken and somebody obviously returned it. The previous owner's name was Justin. Here is a link to my review: https://www.amazon.com/review/R2QCG7PY497FZQ/ref=cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv Anyway, the steam link does work amazingly good.. if connected with a LAN cable. Wifi would probably work a hell of a lot better if I upgraded my router to something that actually supports 802.11ac, mine only connects as fast as 802.11n. Because of this my steam link is practically unusable in my living room while connected over wifi. I actually own a 25 foot (might be 50 foot, its really long) ethernet cable so it was no big deal for me to drop a cable line down the flight of stairs from my PC to my living room to try it out. With a hard line connection like that the steam link works so good, its as if my PC is in the same room and connected to the tv with an hdmi cable. The steam link auto recognized my wireless xbox 360 pc controller. The wireless pc dongle stays powered on so whenever I want to boot up the steam link, I only have to hit the xbox button on my controller to turn it on. Once I get a new graphics card I'll be able to play my entire library of games on my TV in surround sound. Oh.. and it looks like I should be able to play all my origin games with it too. As long as the streaming connection is established with Steam, I can alt-tab out of steam and my TV is now broadcasting my desktop and any and all programs running. I should be able to open Origin and play every game just as if I was running it through steam. The steam link has 2 USB ports, so if I don't want to play a game with my controller, I can simply unhook it and connect a mouse and keyboard. Maybe one of these days I'll upgrade my router and see if this can actually stream over wifi correctly. If not, having to run a hard wire cable is a bit of an annoyance.
  2. Me and Lady have been saying the same thing about aspartame for years too. We won't touch the stuff. I had a few diet sodas as a kid and I swear it tastes like aspirin. Almost everything involving the government is scewed towards money. Every company is part of some association that lobbys for laws that restrict something so they can profit. "Big Margarine" probably lobbied for studies against butter, just like "Big Pharma" lobbied for asthma medicine to change the aerosol in asthma inhalers because the expellant "was bad for the ozone layer". So they got their way and now all asthma inhalers have Propylene glycol as the expellant now. Its basically a non flammable propane. Yeah, thats healthier. And I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that they were able to re-copyright all their asthma medications and all my generic medicine changed from $90 for 3 months worth to roughly $260 every 3 months. My insurance now covers $600+ more than before. I still don't use my medicine correctly. I have to make it last. Btw, Propylene Glycol is the primary ingredient in e-cig fluid. Everyone that says they're only exhaling water vapor don't realize its an oil based liquid they are pumping in their lungs. But of course there will be other studys (funded by the e-cig companies) that show it could actually be healthy for people because its in asthma medicines. Wrong. The only reason its in asthma medicine was for copyright money not for health reasons. Back to the subject of artificial sweeteners, stay away from Xylitol. This sweetener needs to be banned ASAP. Without properly testing it, companies started throwing this arificial sweetener into bubblegum, peanut butter and other products. This crap literally kills dogs within 15 minutes of ingestion because it spikes their insulin and puts them into full diabetic shock. Guess what people like to do? Throw their gum on the sidewalk. Instead of companies finding new ways to lower calories while still keeping things sweet, they need to stop with the chemicals and instead focus on helping to change the actual eating and drinking habits of their customers. Government will ban or issue warnings about all kinds of crap, but most of it is never in our own interest. I'd say lets have less government, but the companies and organizations that would fill those vacated roles are only in it for profit. We'd be no better off. I still think years and years from now we'll finally get official news that the fluoride in all public water has been unsafe and it'll get significantly lowered or removed (even brita water filters cannot filter it out). Instead of having kids and adults learn how to properly take care of their teeth through educational awareness programs, the government puts fluoride in the water instead because its easier.
  3. I spent two hours last night watching Science channel's Jupiter specials. The one episode was at NASA's Juno control room and had interviews with NASA employees and explained the construction and logistics of the mission. It wasn't all that entertaining, but it was very informative. They don't have the videos on their site, but they do have a bunch of short videos with good information: http://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/mission-jupiter/mission-jupiter-videos/juno-101/ I looked at the Science channel's online viewing but its tied into cable subscriptions, I looked a their cable provider and then clicked on the "I don't see my provider", the only cable company that does not carry Science Channel in the drop down is Comcast. Out of every cable company in the country, only Comcast does not want it's customers to have educational programming. x_x
  4. Damn I want to try this game now. In that last video that machine gun he was using really showed the rng bullet spread nerf to me. He had no problem landing shots but not enough accuracy to put everyone down unless he closed the gap.
  5. I'd really like to see the original series get remastered and released on bluray now.
  6. I forgot to say, once you see the marshmallow icon in the middle of the screen, pinch-zoom on it to activate the game.
  7. Ever since I found my first android easter egg by clicking repeatedly on my android version number on my first smart phone (I thought that was how you checked for updates at the time. Lol.), every time I get a new phone or new version of Android installed I check that same easter egg location. I found out today that easter egg now loads a flappy bird clone game with the Droid and marshmallows. it's fun for about 2 minutes. Here's a link showing where to click at if you haven't seen it before. http://www.askvg.com/hidden-secret-easter-eggs-and-daydreams-in-google-android-devices/
  8. I beat Uncharted 3 today. It was a good game and it was quite visually impressive on many occasions. But overall it felt like uncharted 2 was a much more enjoyable game to me. 2 was full of constant action, exploring and adventure. While 3 felt more like I was always trying to escape from somewhere instead of exploring. Different parts of the game didn't tie together well for me and left many plot lines unanswered that would be irrelevant in a sequel considering how the game ended.

I do look forward to playing uncharted 4 but I'll wait to pick it up on black Friday.

  9. I use adblock+ on Firefox all the time. Maybe regular desktop ads are just as bad as they are on mobile but I won't even check at this point. I noticed that adblock plus makes their own browser for android but I haven't tried it yet. On my old phone I did install Firefox with adblock but it ran so horribly it wasn't worth using. Maybe on my new phone it'll work good. I agree about reddit. It's one of the few sites that has alot of text based content without any obtrusive ads. I don't foresee myself ever buying a digital newspaper subscription. The only thing I might cave in and buy is the ad free YouTube upgrade but the more YouTube ads I see the less I want to use YouTube and not reward them and give them money for annoying me. I've already gotten used to muting my phone and putting the screen down while I wait 30 seconds to pass to skip ads while I watch something on my tv. But on my galaxy s7 I can actually run 2 apps via split screen now. I should be able to mute my phone and browse reddit while ignoring half my phone screen.
  10. Back when mobile phones and tablets were becoming mainstream everyone started updating their Web sites to be more and more mobile friendly, eliminating all images over 20k, taking out all background images, making everything run as smoothly as possible to compensate for the extremely limited bandwidth, etc. But now everyone has 4G LTE Internet, a lot of data on their plans and even better WiFi speeds. But the trend never went back to sites with heavy graphic usage. Instead every site is the same layout of single article images and text... and a crap ton of advertisements. I've seen sites with so many advertisements that the page will keep loading on my phone for over 4 minutes. I'll get ads that hover over comics completely blocking 1/4 of the panel if the phone is horizontal. Or an ad embedded into an image at the bottom like some sort of graphical subtitle. There will be ads that hijack the entire screen forcing you to click an X somewhere to keep reading. Or how about that annoying ad that scrolls up over shit while you scroll down? I've seen sites that have all that combined and the entire article is broken into 8 pages so fresh ads can load each page. How about YouTube ads that last 30 seconds and is unskippable even tho the video you are trying to watch is only 15 seconds long? Imagine if cable was that bad? Lol. Yeah.. cable has less advertising than mobile phone Internet now. Mobile phone browsing went from one of the most convenient, fastest ways to get content that you want to becoming a burden of navigating thru ads. I read that 60% of all links shared on Facebook are never clicked on. From my experience, it's because of the fucking ads. I won't even click on links on my phone from Facebook anymore. All the ads would destroy my battery and my patience. It feels like everyone will eventually become ADHD within my lifetime at this rate. Click a link, try reading something, ad pops up and blocks it, hit back to leave the site and move on to the next link. Is it just me or are mobile advertisements going a bit too far? I'm going to get some ad block plug-ins for my phone browser now.
  11. I got the Galaxy S7 today. Bestbuy has a good deal this weekend. $49 with 2 year contract with Verizon and free wireless charger. So far I'm impressed with the quality of the phone over my old S4. I haven't tried the wireless charger yet. I doubt I'll use it much and I have a feeling it won't work correctly with the otter box case I'm using.

25 hours after my first charge and I'm down to 13% battery. I've been using this phone all day to. My old phone would have needed to charge over 12 hours ago. Not bad.

      Strider Hiryu

I keep my phone usage to a minimum if possible and only really use it to check email, Twitter, and Instagram when I'm not home near a charger (and my computer) hence why I tend to get good battery life out of my phones. If I actually did what I've been doing over the last three months of being unemployed I'd probably have to charge it three times a day (I've been playing a lot of mobile games and I mean a lot). Signal strength around here is hit or miss but we've got two 4G towers in the area and Verizon has pretty good coverage out here in Western ND (the only one, AT&T sucks out here and Sprint/T-Mobile don't even have coverage in my area) but my old Droid Bionic had a hard time getting a connection which really drained my battery while I was at work (for some reason Walmart out here was like a dead zone for that phone).

I use Samsung's built in app/task killing service now. I used to use TasKiller on my old phones that did a good job but since the last major Android update (not the newest one where my phone switched to Marshmallow) it fucked that app up and it doesn't work anymore. Samsung's service does a damn good job of keeping my battery life up (plus I have my phone in power saving mode and have my screen brightness turned almost all the way down) and actually kills the right apps/tasks, where TasKiller liked to kill everything. I honestly don't know what Samsung phones have the service built in (I'm assuming everything from the Note 4 up but I'm not entirely sure) but I'm assuming yours might (unless it's a Note only feature but I highly doubt that).

I dug into everything installed on my S7 and for some damn reason Verizon removed the "smart manager" samsung app from their build. Wtf Verizon. -_-; after looking in YouTube it's the exact app I would prefer to use for battery optimization and Verizon doesn't have it available. I do like the fact that bloatware is very minimal on this phone. My S4 had so much pre-installed crap that was only disableable and not Uninstallable that those apps would take up way to much space and would run in the background all the time. But this S7 only had 1 app I had to disable  (NFL), aside from that all the "galaxy essential" apps are located in a widget and it gives me the option to actually download and install them now instead of having it all preloaded. I looked thru those apps and there isn't a single thing I want except maybe the Samsung video player. It's nice to have a boy more control over my phone, but then I see the smart manager was removed. Ehhh. These companies are trying to encourage ppl to not root their phones and install a custom / unbranded android OS by not having shit tons of preloaded apps, but they need to keep all default apps available to. I hate knowing there are great features available for my model of phone.. but not mine specifically.

  12. From everything I've heard I know I'll love the doom single player but with my backlog of games I'm going to wait until black friday.
  13. If I didn't play Saints Row 4, would playing Gat out of Hell make sense? Or does it matter if it's played out of order?

  15. The biggest complaint I have about windows 10 besides the forced upgrade is the awkward settings menus. There's 2 different settings controls not counting the control panel. The best piece of advice I can give you when using windows 10 is to click on the little search icon at the bottom left of the screen and type the word setting in the search. Near the bottom you'll see "Settings >" click that and you'll get every setting option on the PC. Once I figured that out everything started going much smoother for me. I guess I'm lucking out so far on my pc. I hope I'll get the same experience on my laptop. There is a major update for the win 10 coming out in August that might fix some of your issues. https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/06/29/windows-10-anniversary-update-available-august-2/
  16. Microsoft is going to stop forcing the windows 10 upgrade on everyone. Finally. But now they're only giving people until the end of July to upgrade for free. I've been using Windows 10 for quite a while now and its just as good as Windows 7 imo. It just takes a while to disable default apps and customize the new start menu by removing all the crap apps off of it. I'm going to upgrade my laptop from windows 7 before the end of this month. Maybe its just my opinion but win 10 does seem to run as smooth as win 7 and I haven't had any issues with programs not working on it. I know my brother got screwed by a couple programs that didn't offer upgrades to be compatible with win 10, but that was backup software that clones hard drives and some other program. I did have to upgrade my graphics driver to a win 10 version, but aside from that win 10 has been out long enough now that alot of bugs have been resolved. I haven't had an issue with anything crashing for about 3 months now. 4 months ago I had random crashes and shut down issues where the PC would never actually shut down and I had to hard shut it off. These are some of the references I used after having Windows 10 forced installed on my PC. I didn't do all these changes, but I definitely recommend disabling almost all the default apps that will run in the background. I'm using a PC not a cellphone so theres no reason to have any phone apps running all the time: http://www.howtogeek.com/241752/how-to-stop-windows-10-apps-from-running-in-the-background/ http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/windows-10-settings-to-change http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/make-windows-10-like-windows-7 http://lifehacker.com/how-to-configure-windows-10-to-protect-your-privacy-1716204024 http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/28/12049876/microsoft-windows-10-upgrade-notification-change
  17. I played a round and a half of BF4 conquest last night with my brother to start getting prepared for BF1. I forgot how fun the game can be with a good teammate. He jumped on recon and laser designated while I javelined some helicopters and boats. I'll be playing some more BF4 rounds here and there. If you see me on, feel free to jump on or send me a message to team up. :D

I think they got nerfed to. But with laser designated targets it still destroys quite well. :P

I've been playing to much uncharted. I kept trying to reload by hitting R1. XD I'm almost done with uncharted 3. Once I get that beat I'll have to retrain myself to bf4 controls.

  18. Thank you for that info. I've been waiting nearly a year at this point for these next generation cards to come out. I can wait another month or two considering I wont buy another graphics card for probably 3 or so years. I'm going to read up on a bunch of reviews before I order anything. I've also been looking at the AMD and Nvidia reddits but man those are so biased with fans. Its like Xbox vs. Playstation fans. Alot of people say that AMD's driver support is much better now, only for their latest products of course. Regardless of that I'm still hesitant to buy a Radeon mostly because of Nvidia's Ansel software which isn't getting nearly as much attention as all the graphics card's stats are. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/ansel http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/ansel/technology This software lets you take insane screen shots and I haven't seen an AMD's equivalent yet. I'm also hesitant to buy a 1070 for the price of over $430+ when the MSRP is actually $370. Even with tax at a normal MSRP I'll still be dropping $400. For that price I could put that cash towards a gaming laptop. But at the same time, I've used Steam in network streaming before with no problem and with a beefy graphics card I could easily play all my steam games on my PC and stream them all to my laptop to play in my living room with no problem. I'm also getting a steam link so I can play any steam game on any TV in my house. But even doing that should be no problem for a RX 480 card. If I didn't have to buy new snow tires in about 4 months I'd bite the bullet and go for the 1070. Hell, I still might if they ever get the price down to the actual MSRP.
  19. The early tests are showing the rx 480 to be closer to gtx 970 stats. The nda is being lifted tomorrow with the launch of the RX 480 so all the reviews will be flooding all the game sites tomorrow. I'm really tempted to buy one of these. I've always been a Nvidia fan but this price point is really good for what I can afford right now. The Nividia gtx 1070 is a beast of a graphics card but at double the price I dunno. Supposedly the gtx 1060 will be coming out at the end of this month which is going to compete with the rx 480 but I think AMD will have Nvidia beat with price and availability for the rest of the year in this mid range card market.
  20. I upgraded the server's image handling software over the weekend. Everyone that can upload attachments and make galleries can now upload pictures directly from your phones now. The images will be auto shrunk down by the server to 1920 x 1080. Even if the pic you have is over 4 mb, it'll shrink the file size down too. This also applies to all images uploaded or attached to a post through a regular browser or tablet as well.
  21. Bungie should have never made Destiny for those older consoles to begin with. With this move they could have given anyone that has bought the taken king expansion for the ps3 or xbox 360 a free upgrade to the newer gen versions. I'm not saying those people are entitled to that upgrade but it would be a great move for activision's public relations. But I say could have given.. they really can't tho because that expansion was released digitally and on disk. The people that already bought the DLC digitally could easily be upgraded with a cross buy promotion that goes into retro effect. But activision was greedy with a physical copy release that negates that possibility. Anyone who bought the game for those older systems should have known this would eventually happen anyway. Wow thats ultra shitty. Like you said, someone will always have that in every match. Its like the ultimate kill streak bonus. I never could understand why the CoD kill streak system even exists in the first place. Instead of having a even playing field and people that are great can already dominate a game, lets give them even more elaborate ways to get easy free kills to help them dominate even more. And now you have something that lets people be completely OP simply because they have the time to grind out some challenge.. yeah no thanks. I'm way to casual ever enjoy a CoD multiplayer.
  22. I had no idea there was a demo for this! I just set it to download to my PS4. I'm going to try it out later this week.
