Ok.. my router is crapping out. This may not be a steam in home streaming issue. I'll have to test steam streaming again once I get a new router later on. Turns out my Belkin router no longer connects on the 5ghz band and unless I set the 2.4 ghz band to G only, all devices connected on 802.11n will lose their connection once I my PC connects via a wired connection to the router.. wtf.. So I set the PC to be wireless also and the connections still crap out for N.. This router is on it's way to the scrap yard.
-
Lol. The newer "AC" routers are definitely superior to the N ones. If I got one of those and an AC usb dongle for each of the laptops, ps4, etc. Then I'd have no problem streaming my steam games while streaming Netflix on a couple other systems all at the same time.
-
I've been having router issues for the last week or so and I thought my router was dying. But it looks like steam in home streaming might be the culprit. Steam is completely ravaging my wifi signal even when there is no game actually streaming. As long as I am logged into steam on 2 pcs at the same time, the two clients connecting to each other uses all available bandwidth in my local network. I still have some more testing to confirm this, but if it is steam then I won't be trying in home streaming again unless both systems are plugged into the router or I'll have to get a more powerful router.

I played some Titanfall today.. and it was quite fun. Even though I was able to play the game on max settings, I really needed to drop the video settings down to stop lag issues while playing. And streaming this game was a b*tch for my PC.. it added quite a bit of lag to my game even though it doesn't look like it in this video: http://www.twitch.tv/sledgstone/b/540902896 After a while, I stopped streaming so I could enjoy the game.. then I noticed that Origin has its own built in twitch streaming, which works quite crappy. It turned everything blue until I unchecked the "Optimized streaming" setting or whatever that little check box was. I think my problem with my first stream was that I was streaming at 60 fps in my full monitor resolution, while Origin's streaming was capped out at 30 fps and 720p. Origin's streaming also crashed my game repeatedly. Origin blue streaming, wtf: http://www.twitch.tv/sledgstone/b/540921228 And Origin streaming working and me in a horrible match: http://www.twitch.tv/sledgstone/b/540927188 In the end, I switched over to keyboard and mouse because I'm not used to my xbox 360 controller's sensitivity for FPS games. The game was enjoyable, but the "campaign" seemed like it was pointless, and stupid me went to take the dog outside friday night and left the game in the lobby instead of the main menu.. by the time I got back to the PC it was on the 3rd mission.. wtf.. why didn't the game boot me for being idle!? I must have been the worst team mate ever.. just standing there getting killed endlessly.. So I tried to restart the campaign and apparently I couldn't so I'll just watch it on a lets play because I couldn't get past the 3rd mission anyway because it kept repeating on me. So I switched over to multiplayer and with the correct video settings, it was a high paced game.. but I still prefer Battlefield. This felt like Call of Duty, except far superior. The mobility and parkour made a huge difference over the COD titles I've played before too. But I won't be buying this game for a couple reasons. Battlefield has me spoiled. I'd rather play on a company's server with map selections and numerous game modes and vehicles. Does anyone know if Titanfall actually has servers? I know the grunts are supposed to be powered by MS's cloud servers, but I find that difficult to believe. It seemed to me that the games were hosted off whoever's PC had the best connection like Call of Duty. And just like I'd expect of a FPS game on PC, I saw numerous "Ping of Death" attacks against my router's firewall during the time I was playing Titanfall multiplayer. My router has been crapping out on me for the past week or so, but at least it's firewall is still working correctly. If they make Titanfall 2 on PS4 and it has an actual campaign that will let me hone my fighting skills in before I take the plunge into multiplayer, then I'll buy it.

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Sledgstone replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
I'm glad Sony worked with a developer (possibly more) in designing their controller. It is a huge improvement over the PS3 Dualshock 3 controller. Those are some impressive stats. Once the full beta starts on all platforms, it'll be obvious how close Bungie and Sony have become if the Xbox versions have numerous bugs. The alpha played so smoothly, that I never found a single bug on the PS4 version. -
I hate my belkin router.
-
I used to have a D-Link wired router years ago and I never had a problem with it. I should have stuck with that brand.
-
I have no idea why, but my Windows 8 PC somehow f*cks up my wireless connection whenever its online.. That PC has perfect internet, but then everything wireless drops down to 1-2 mbps. I think I have it working now, but the last time that PC went into sleep mode, then turned back on, the wireless turned to garbage again.. wtf belkin.
-
I had a similar problem with a Linksys router. When my PC went into sleep mode it would turn the internet connection off for every device. I never could figure it out. D-Link has never failed me outside of getting hit by lightning.... and even then it took the full blunt and all my electronics were safe.

I bought Skyrim Legendary Edition on steam just now.. $13 on sale is the cheapest I've ever seen it. I'll have to try it out soon and get that Macho Man mod installed.

We finished watching Attack on Titan tonight. I thought it was good but it doesn't explain anything in the anime.. what the titans actually are, where they came from, are they being controlled.. what is up with the titan shifters abilities, etc.. It left me with too many questions. It was also the second most bloodiest and gruesome anime I've ever seen with Berserk being number 1. I wish the anime would have continued on but it doesn't look like there is a season 2.. I suppose I'll have to start reading the manga to see how the story continues.

I've never played brink but I agree with that. The wall running and double jumping gave me the feeling that I was playing a fps with prince of Persia elements.

So far Titanfall definitely feels like COD, except superior. The giant mechs are great, the game looks and plays great, but I don't feel any sense of teamwork. I'll finish up the story line missions tomorrow to get a better impression of it. I'm glad it's free on origin this weekend. I might play the helm out of it tomorrow and be content on not buying it. But I'm also one of those ppl that like a campaign over endless 6 vs 6 matches. I hope titanfall 2 has an amazing campaign.

I know of eSports, but I've never watched a competition. I don't know how the tournaments are setup or the requirements for the competitions either. So if there are any eSports fans reading this, please put in your 2 cents and let me know your opinion. From the numerous eSports articles I've glanced over, I've seen plenty of comments over the years from people saying that it shouldn't be called "sports" and the players in these competitions shouldn't be called athletes. Now to reference a few of these articles: Back in 2013, the US State Department officially recognized competitive gaming as a professional sport: Source: http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/12/4518936/competitive-gaming-recognized-in-u-s-as-a-pro-sport And as of yesterday, Robert Morris University Illinois will be the first college in North America to offer scholarships to League of Legends players just like they would offer scholarships to athletes that play basketball or football. Source: http://kotaku.com/league-of-legends-is-turning-into-an-actual-college-spo-1593193021 What do you guys think.. are these players professional athletes? Obviously the competitions have some damn good prize money and these competitors have to put in some serious training time to improve their gaming.. But these people are not playing a physical sport and it reminds me of how others still debate whether chess is a sport or not. So.. is "eSports" an actual professional competition of all online games or is it limited to just large game companies and organizations offering prizes for a limited selection of titles? Could eSports also include online chess or poker competitions? Could those individuals also be considered athletes? I'm currently leaning towards the opposite view. Sure there is some time and effort put into the online competition, but I don't think that people who professionally play Madden online should be considered athletes just like the physical players in the NFL. I'm just not seeing it. There are two other things eSports reminds me of. The movie Gamer, which, if you haven't seen yet, I do recommend it because it does have a level of competitive gaming in it. I don't consider the one character in it to be an athlete at all.. he plays a game well and reaps the benefits of being popular for it. I suppose that could be said for any professional athlete out there, but for eSports, it makes me believe that anyone could technically be a professional in any eSports game as long as you put the time into it.. like this professional World of Warcraft player from South Park: It makes me think of all those 100 star Colonials from Battlefield.. are the majority of professional gamers young kids with no jobs, social life or school? With me being outside of the loop of eSports, that is the general image I have in my mind. Perhaps I'm wrong, but most of the pictures I've seen of professional gamers are young adults that look like they just entered highschool. Also, now that I mentioned South Park.. could playing video games professionally lead to other claims besides being called athletes? There is a clip in this South Park episode where Kyle is offered a job as a musician because he plays Guitar Hero professionally and he could entertain people with his gameplay.. go to the 13 minute mark: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s11e13-guitar-queer-o What do you guys think about eSports?

http://kotaku.com/see-watch-dogs-hidden-graphics-options-in-action-1592155153 It looks like Watch Dogs did get a graphics downgrade. With the better graphics turned on the PC version it looks like the higher quality we saw in the early trailers for the game. And the follow up article.. According to Ubisoft these settings caused the game to be unstable: http://kotaku.com/ubisoft-explains-why-watch-dogs-on-pc-had-hidden-graphi-1593514602 But from what other people are saying, thats not the case at all.. and the game runs significantly better with the enchanced graphics on.

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Sledgstone replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
Very nice. Now if Destiny had assignments like battlefield, I'd probably use that app all the time to track my progression. I wonder what level cap will be in place for the beta and also for the full game. I'm also wondering how many character slots we'll be given in the full game. If there is a level cap of 50 in the full game, I'll probably make a character for each class and have 1 focused on multiplayer. I like that the game has vaults right at the main entrance to the tower. They should function just like the Xunlai chests from GW1 and those lockers on Borderlands 2 so we can get transfer powerful weapons from an advanced character to a lower level one. If Destiny is going to be like other MMOs, the first large DLC will probably include a couple new classes and give us another character slot or two, but they'll eventually charge for additional character slots and character customizations. -
I give credit to Sony tho, they do have some good prices on their random flash sales in the PSN store. I've seen that new remastered Tomb Raider in there for 50% off a couple times, same with a few of those indie games too. Once a larger selection of titles are available as digital on PS4, I'll check that store more often just to see if there is a flash sale going on. I agree about the pre-order bonuses. Most of them don't seem to add any real value.

Yay three day weekend! We started watching Attack on Titan tonight. That first episode.. wtf.. talk about a PTSD event.
-
Speaking of gamestop, I'm going to email them later to find out if buying the ps4 digital version of destiny from them includes all pre - order bonuses. If it does, then we'd be better off buying digital games from then instead of the psn store.. unless gamestop only gives out the code at midnight. . Maybe they'll give everyone their redeemable codes the day before launch to ensure pre loading.

This is going to be a fun movie, I'm kind of glad they haven't gone to far into the plot of the movie in these trailers.. the fate of the galaxy is up to these guys and the trailers still haven't shown the full scale of what threat they'll be facing.

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Sledgstone replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
The Hunter definitely sounds like my class. But crap.. the other two classes have some serious jumps. I'm really interested in seeing what the lightening attack for the Hunter at level 15 looks like. The golden gun is nice for some bosses and higher level enemies, but for taking out a group of enemies the other two classes have the Hunter beat. -
That interview with the developer really impressed me. The concept and game engine sounds amazing.. but I've never played a game like Minecraft.. without any actual content or voice acting or plot lines.. this game seems like the ultimate time killer. lol. In a good way. Like if I had an hour of free time, I could jump on No Man's Sky and explore some new planet or get into a huge space battle. hmm.. I wonder if they'll have online exploration with friends.

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Sledgstone replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
I definitely need to try out the two other classes. From what I've seen of all three in the multiplayer, it looks like Titan is the way to go. But for the campaign, Warlock seems very interesting to me. Wow.. Turns out Destiny will be a Playstation exclusive in Japan: http://kotaku.com/destiny-is-a-playstation-exclusive-in-japan-1591865980
