Steam os is Linux based so I'm assuming it's all Linux based programming. As long as the stream machine has the vga output that crt should still work. But I'm really wondering how much longer vga will be supported, seeing as there is hdmi, dvi and display port which are all superior.

Cool. I'll probably end up buying this if I see it on sale with the season pass for a good deal on Origin. I'm in no rush to get it at the moment tho with the huge backlog of games I currently have, but I'll keep my eyes out for a sale.

I tested two games tonight, Borderlands and The Walking Dead.. and Steam In-Home Streaming works. I was logged into my steam account on both machines at the same time. Once two systems are logged in at once, the Play and Install Game links change so there is a drop down for both options. You can select any game, click the drop down and choose to install or play / stream any game from either machine. So I picked Borderlands to try first and set it to stream from my new desktop. It loaded up fine but I had to change all the video settings because it has never been played on that PC before. I set everything to max graphics, something my laptop has not been able to do for this game, and started playing BL on my laptop in maxed settings. It worked flawlessly. I only played for a few minutes, but my laptop's fan didn't even kick on like it normally would for that game. It was definitely running off the other computer because I've tried these settings on my laptop before and it was unplayable do to how horribly laggy it became. But with the in-home streaming, it wasn't an issue at all. I seemed to have some issues with the Walking Dead. It lagged out on me once and a second time it kicked me from the game. But I think it was because the desktop was going into sleep mode. I'll have to test that again later. I'm now very interested in getting a Steam Machine.. but not some powerful one, no.. I want the lowest end steam machine that comes with a controller. As long as I can stream from my main desktop, I'll have no problem playing every game on my steam account and I won't be limited to what can only run on Steam OS. I wonder if some company will make a HDMI dongle steam machine made strictly for streaming from another computer over wifi. I'd buy it.

Now that I have a PC that can play Titanfall, is the game still worth getting now? I know some of the buzz behind it has died down, but if I see it on sale for a decent price, should I pick it up at some point?

The more I'm using Windows 8.1, the more it feels like an upgraded version of Windows 7. The best improvement I'm noticing now is that the task bar is always present in full screen apps. As long as I put the mouse at the bottom of the screen I can then click on the open window to minimize it. If Windows 8 was initially what 8.1 is now, it would not have been a disaster. Now MS has to rebuild its Windows OS's identity from garbage to good. MS screwed themselves. They seem to have the mentality that they are Apple and whatever they make, everyone will enjoy and adapt to. But nobody wanted to emulate swyping with their mouse on a PC, just like nobody was wanting an always online Xbox One. MS needs to fix its public relations and start making their products according to what their user base actually wants as opposed to forcing their failed concepts onto people because of their market share. The end result is low end Xbox One sales, and horrible PC sales. Anyway, Windows 8.1 is much better. I just wish I could turn the tiles menu off completely and set the start button and windows logo button on the keyboard as a quick desktop button only. Also.. Microsoft.. stop trying to force everyone to have a Microsoft account. I can understand the features you are trying to give everyone, like having all my files, bookmarks, etc all synced between any computer or device I use Windows 8 on.. but I don't want that, because it means you would have all my data. I don't want you having all my data and I did not like the fact that when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I saw no option to log into Windows with a local account until after I put a fake username / password into the Microsoft account login. I thought Facebook and google were the worse data horders, now MS wants copies / "Backups" of absolutely everything you own or do on any device or computer on their servers. No thanks.

I don't know either. Lol. If I wasn't hit by the car I could have exploded the bomb while I was rolling on the ground instead of having to wait until I started to get up. I've jumped out of moving vehicles repeatedly in this game and I've never died yet because of it. I even hit a lamp post with my spine and survived.

If Ouya was made by HBO, I'd have believed their claims of allowing all adult content. lol. I used Windows 8 for about 1 hour yesterday and I hated it. Here are my biggest complaints about it: 1) Tiles, there is no way to avoid that damn screen even if you don't use it. 2) All programs, settings, etc. all run in full screen. Windows was originally called Windows because you could run applications in "Windows" and not full screen. Not with Windows 8. Open the control panel and its all full screen. Same with everything else, except for IE when it was launched from the desktop.. because the desktop version of IE is actual IE, while the version you launch in the tiles screen is actually an IE app that runs full screen. And while everything is full screen, there is no minimize button.. no x to close the window. The only thing you can do to exit a damn full screen app is to hit the windows button on the keyboard to go back to the tiles/metro screen or keep swiping that left menu to switch between applications. The desktop is pointless because nothing can be minimized to it except for the non windows store programs you install yourself. 3) No windows button. No quick access to the things I use on a PC. Instead I have to swipe a menu on the right side of the screen, click on settings.. but no.. these settings are for the tile/metro menu and windows store app settings.. Which would be fine on a tablet because on a tablet you don't have after market parts installed, or you don't have to change a resolution setting for some classic compatibility mode game, etc. But if I want to access my PC settings, I have to swipe that menu, hit settings, hit PC Settings, then I can change basic settings, and it still doesn't give me a link to the control panel. To get to the control panel, I have to go to the tiles menu, click all apps, then click on control panel. 4) I finally found where to make Windows check and install windows updates on command.. I looked for the Windows 8.1 update and it wasn't there. I had to get all current Windows 8 updates first. I did all that, and the 8.1 update was still not there. Oh.. how stupid of me.. that update is in the windows store which is accessed through the tile / metro menu. WTF. Why MS? Why did you put a significant update like Windows 8.1 in the store instead of actually having it in the actual Windows Update menu? I also could not download the update because it said I wasn't an administrator. wtf.. so I found out I could not get the update until I removed an old windows update file that was pre-loaded by dell, reinstall that update through the windows update program, and then I finally got 8.1... and it was a download around 3.6 GB and it easily took an hour to update after the download was complete.. There are many more things, but I'll leave it at that for now. Long story short, Windows 8 is obviously the key reason to the declining PC sales over the past couple years. This is not an operating system for a PC. Now.. as for Windows 8.1.. this is a definite improvement over Windows 8, but it is still inferior to Windows 7. In 8.1, it boots to the desktop. Yay. All full screen apps now have a minimize and close button. Yay. The windows actually minimize to the desktop task bar so I don't have to swipe a left menu to switch between apps anymore. And the best thing is the start button. Its nothing like the start menu of previous windows, but at least I can right click it for quick easy access to the control panel, shutting off the computer, etc., without having to swipe menus anymore. Windows 8.1 will be useable for me now. Anyone that was running Windows 8, I feel sorry for you. That OS was complete garbage for PC use and I can understand why Steam decided to make their own OS for gaming. Its like MS decided to make a Wii U (windows 8) after having released a PS4 (windows 7). Instead of something made for power users, they made something for a completely different target audience. Windows 8.1 is a large improvement, but it should have been the original Windows 8. Its hard for me to believe that people were swiping with their mouse for over a year until this update came out. WTF was MS thinking with that decision. Its reminding me of their flip flopping on the Xbox One. Whoever was in charge of the final decisions of Windows 8 and Xbox One should be fired. Microsoft completely shot themselves in the foot over the past year. I hope other competitors make their own OS, but from what I've seen of Google, I don't like those chrome books at all. If MS makes an online only operating system with a subscription fee, I'll pass. I know the current trend is to have tablets and smartphones, but I hope that doesn't become the new standard. Power PC users and PC gaming needs a shot in the arm and I hope Steam OS does that for gaming at least.

I started using Windows 8 tonight.. I watched the "Getting Started with Windows 8" videos and I now know how to actually navigate, switch and close apps, get to the control panel, etc.. and honestly, this OS would be fine on a phone or a tablet. But on a full PC, this OS sucks balls compared to Windows 7. To see what apps are all open and to be able to right click and close those apps, you have to move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen and then move the mouse down the side in a kind of crappy emulated swiping gesture. This also applies to the right side "charms" menu. The "metro" tiles that everyone knows as Windows 8, is a menu of apps that can be modified to have different tiles, but it cannot be removed or even have the computer boot to the desktop. On a tablet this would be fine, but I'm currently not interested in accessing Window's app store, installing apps and other programs that want to harvest my data.. I simply want a powerful PC for work and gaming. Without a touchscreen for a PC, this operating system is horrible. The shittiest part is that all the settings, control panel, etc. that is the core of Windows 7 is there, but Windows 8 wants you to ignore the hardware and potential of the system and instead sign into your Microsoft account and keep up to date with your friends and tiles. I'm currently doing all my windows updates and then I'll be upgrading it to Windows 8.1 which will allow me to boot to desktop and it'll have a start button with quick access to the control panel and all the other administrative options I actually used the start menu for. However, it still doesn't have an "all programs" list in the start menu, which means I'll have to use the search function to find my programs if I don't have shortcuts on the desktop for them.. and I will still have to turn on the "Metro" tiles, right click on a blank area and then click "all apps" to see the apps which are separate from normal programs. Once I get these updates done, I'll try to change some settings around to see if I can get this computer running more to my liking.

You're to nice to these criminals. I know it's better for reputation to take them down without killing them, but once they start shooting at me I either gun them down or run them over.

there is one boss that spawns a healing turret for herself and shes impossible to beat with too many people because her turret scales up as well and she gains all her health back before it gets destroyed. It takes 45 minutes with a decent group that at least splits into 2... but most times it takes an hour or more to beat all the bosses. I generally don't jump in unless the healing turret boss is already down when I arrive.
-
All the Bosses are level 80, and the cool part is everyone is scaled up to 80 in that area... so everyone can have a fair chance to contribute. After all bosses are downed a donation fund is set up and you can donate a little or a lot. You get the same amount of XP even with the smallest donation (1 silver). The boss blitz starts once the set amount is achieved.

Now that's pretty awesome. I like that the lower level players can enjoy the fight too.

New gameplay clip. It looks good, but I hope they show off some new weapons or upgraded abilities in their next videos. That dash moves seems to be a crucial component of combat.

Defiance... I take back recommending this game even as a free to play. Watch the episode missions on youtube in a lets play video. This game has become so frustratingly difficult that I no longer enjoy any aspect of it now. With the latest patch they implemented last month the game now takes all players in an area, combines the total "EGO" rating of all players (their level), averages it, then raises the difficulty of all enemies in that area by raising the area's "Threat Level". To try and help out lower level players, those players get a temporary "EGO" boost to help them against the stronger enemies. Well.. Trion has now made this game only enjoyable to people who have put some serious time into it. I've beaten the game with an EGO rating of 790.. Most players I see in the game have EGO ratings in the thousands. As soon as I see the threat level has increased to 3, I literally don't have a chance in hell of holding my own. Because the threat level is increased in an area regardless if you are in a group or not, you can no longer solo this game. The difficulty is now so insane for my low level guy that an occasional swarm of Hellbugs were just cannon fodder, a fun little kill fest for me.. but now some higher level guy, like my older brother, or any other random person who plays this game, will show up and bam.. threat level 3.. The easiest enemies in the game require an entire clip off my mag to even take them out. Its like I'm shooting a BB gun now. Maybe they planned on this setup for when the game goes free to play? If they get 30+ lower level guys in an area and a few hard core players, it might balance out.. but as it is now, I don't see how anyone new to this game would even stand a chance. And the most idiotic thing is the new season 2 episode 1 mission literally starts at the beginning are of the entire game. The amount of high level players in the beginning area will ensure a constant high threat level for all newbies, thus ensuring a complete massacre of all new players. x_x Its so damn unbalanced now with PVE that the enemies will actually ignore me unless I'm shooting at them because I pose no threat to them at all. When they do realize I'm an enemy, they kill me in a couple shots easily. One of the most rediculous moments happened when I headshot a dark matter enemy 8 times doing critical hits.. I never killed him.. instead he had an assault rifle and killed me with 5 bullets of random automatic gunfire from over 200 meters away.

Origin has started their next round of "On the House" games. For a limited time, you can now own Battlefield 3 and Plants vs. Zombies™ Game of the Year Edition. This is pretty good. I might actually start using Origin again. Source: https://www.origin.c...es/on-the-house Click here to view the article

Lmao! That rifle must have been shooting some high caliber rounds. You probably did enough damage that his leg should have exploded right off his body. I'm kind of glad they didn't put dismemberment and decapitation in the game. The amount of ppl that get exploded in this game would have turned it into a gore fest.

Windows XP Support will end April 8, 2014
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Science & Technology
Here are a couple interesting articles about how to get partial security updates for Windows XP systems until 2019: http://betanews.com/2014/05/26/how-to-continue-getting-free-security-updates-for-windows-xp-until-2019/ http://betanews.com/2014/05/27/microsoft-warns-against-xp-update-hack-suggests-users-upgrade-to-windows-8-1-instead/ As for me.. I took the plunge and ordered a new desktop. It has Windows 8... I guess I'll have to learn the new OS and try to make it useable for me. I got the new desktop primarily for work, but I should be able to take advantage of Steam's new in house streaming. The new desktop can handle the bulk of the processing while I enjoy the games on my laptop.- 12 replies

Damn... and I was looking forward to playing SR4. Oh well. maybe one of these months it'll get on there. Trine 2 seems like a good game. I already own it on steam but I'm sure it'll look and play great on PS4. I've been holding off on buying Strider for PS4 because I'm hoping it'll be free on ps+ soon.

Good video, it emphasizes how you have to pay the game. Lure the enemies into an explosive and take them out. You had a great triple kill too. this game cannot be played like gta or saints row.. A couple bullets and you're dead. Stealth is definitely preferable in this game.
