If you get an air conditioner, make sure its a decent one that doesn't have styrofoam as part of it's construction. Styrofoam A/C units usually have gaps that bugs get through. They stop there to get a drink of water off the back of the window unit, and then wiggle through the cheap styrofoam and next thing I know, I have a random bee or wasp in the house. I doubt a cicada could get in tho. Even though these bugs are only supposed to live for 4 weeks, I have a feeling they'll all hatch at random intervals and we'll get stuck with a never ending summer of noisy bugs.

I thought District 9 was good. I never saw it in the theaters and I vaguely remembered trailers for it when I saw it in a $5 dvd bin years ago. I picked it up and thought it was good though. The special effects with aliens / alien tech was well done.

http://www.bbcamerica.com/mind-the-gap/2013/04/09/10-american-habits-brits-will-never-understand/ I floss every night. I have bad teeth and have had a lot of cavities over the years. I drank way too much soda as a kid and it destroyed my enamel. But as long as I floss every evening, I get better checkups. Flossing doesn't hurt either.. At first it used to, but my gums have completely gotten used to it. I recommend plackers twin line floss, way easy than using regular dental floss. I don't usually bake. But I will compulsively grill during the summer. I will spend hours slow cooking some ribs or a pork shoulder on the grill. My brother does this. hahaha. I have no interest in sending out card tho, especially any family portraits. Old people do this all the time. The most I ever say is, "excuse me" or "pardon me" when I walk in front of someone at a store. I don't 'whoop' I swear. lol. I'd leave work, get in my car, start driving down the road and scream "F*******ck!" Ummmm... no. I want my personal space. What really annoys me are other peoples kids. I'll be at a grocery store, in line at the checkout with my cart and all of a sudden a couple toddlers are right next to me, staring into my cart, touching my products. wtf. Don't touch my bag of potato chips. Milk is like salt? Thats different.. I love a nice small glass of milk and some oreo cookies to dunk into it. I used to get supersize everything. I always thought, its only an extra $0.69 I'll get almost double fries! But no.. I stopped. I don't even like french fries that much any more. I take leftovers home all the time if I have some. It seems like a waste not to. I have never seen perfect family breakfasts.. I only want a couple cups of coffee, everyone else can fend for themselves. I do love a good breakfast for dinner though. Lady makes some awesome breakfasts.

Just a few of these are annoying, but with this brood we're going to experience as many as 1 billion per square mile. This will be insanely loud times a few million:

If Bob Barker had Carrie abilities, he'd have probably slaughtered the studio audience the moment he heard that either Rosie O'Donnell or Drew Carey would be his replacement.

I'm surprised they remade Carrie yet again. This does look like good remake and I'm sure I'll watch it, but with the amount of Stephen King novels out there, I'm really surprised that Carrie keeps getting revisited. I would love to see a proper "It" movie, "The Talisman", "Insomnia" or especially "The Dark Tower". Click here to view the article

Xbox 720 to require always on internet connection?
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Video Games
I've seen what you're talking about with SC2. They had server issues when I was first playing the game. Over half of the achievements I should have got never registered. I'm glad it didn't disconnect my game. Its one thing to disable achievements because of an online issue (which is stupid considering my PS3 trophies can resync next time I log in to PSN), but if I got booted out of a single player game because of their server issues, I can honestly say I would have been raging. I've "Lost Session" to Dice / EA servers far more than should have ever happened. I might get booted out of that match, but at least I have the chance to rejoin my friend's session and get back into the match even though my stats for that round were wiped. I've only had maybe 2 issues with PSN connection problems, usually the issue I have is the game developer's servers. I do feel bad for anyone with ISP issues if this kind of setup does become the next standard. Imagine if even Blu ray playback required a constant internet connection. lol. That would be horrible if you get bad pings. Playback could possibly interrupt for no damn reason with "Check your connection" errors. -

Xbox 720 to require always on internet connection?
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Video Games
I figure if a game requires a constant online connection, it should be sold with that information well known, like the case was with StarCraft 2. As for all other games, I don't see the point in requiring an online connection even for the initial loading of the game, especially for strictly single player games like most RPGs. I have a feeling that if MS puts this restriction on their new console, then they'll only be limiting their target audience. I know some games on Steam require an online connection and when the Steam connection goes down, you'll see the people raging on their official forums. I could only imagine the outrage people would have if Xbox live had some connection issue that prevented games from playing. -

That was a good fight. I was half expecting a three shield fight like in the movie "13th Warrior". I loved what Siggy (the Earl's wife) did as soon as her husband was killed.. She grabbed a blade and killed that disgusting bastard that her daughter was forced to marry. Haha. Good for her.- 39 replies

Xbox 720 to require always on internet connection?
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Video Games
Ah, I've seen the numerous "Shift" codes that were promoted through twitter. i always wonder what advantage those codes gave players. Thanks for letting me know. As for the Defiance DLC, I have not purchased any of the outfits or extras yet, so I'm not sure if it does go thru PSN or not. But I had an issue with not receiving my pre-order bonuses and I noticed that when they resolved my issue, the pre-order bonuses were applied directly to my Defiance account. Because it was applied directly to my Defiance account, I was not given a PSN redeemable code. I have pre-ordered games through PSN before and all pre-order bonuses are added to my "Download List" through my transaction menu. However, with Defiance, these bonuses are were given to me in game only and are not in my Download list. I can only assume that the in game purchases circumvent the PSN store, seeing as the PSN store has no record of these bonuses. -
Yeah, but compared to those humble bundles, no console sale will compare to PC prices. I still need to play Limbo. I got that back in one of the Humble Bundles for $1. Now that I've been playing the most recent Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light looks like a game I would like to play.

Xbox 720 to require always on internet connection?
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Video Games
Good points. I also believe that always online requirements will be the future of gaming. I played the hell out of Guild Wars 1. That game was online only required back in 2005. I'm playing Defiance on PS3 and it is online only. Even if I am not playing with anyone else, this game connects to Defiance servers and requires an online connection at all times. These kind of games are becoming the standard. And from what I've seen of Destiny, an online connection will be required. The one thing I am noticing tho, is that games like Defiance are relying more on their own in game purchase system to earn extra money. Like buying new outfits or vehicles. These purchases appear to be occurring outside of the PSN system, which means that its a direct purchase from the company and Sony makes no money off the transaction. I noticed that the DLC is still purchased from within the PSN store, but it makes me think that the companies are going to start focusing more on micro transactions so that the platform developers don't get their share of the profits. While PSN and Xbox live will continue to get a cut from DLC purchases, more of the current DLC will now transfer over to the in game only purchases. Like in FFXIII-2, there are a variety of outfits to purchase for the characters. They are all separate DLC that is purchased through the PSN store. However, in Defiance, new outfits are sold through the Defiance store. This cuts out the middle man and PSN is left with less money to skim off the top. I can only assume the same thing will be happening with Xbox Live. Once more games are relegating their transactions through their own in game systems, the consoles are going to start loosing out on revenue. Once this starts happening, PSN and Xbox Live are going to see their revenue streams start diminishing and will have to make their money some other way. It makes me think that the game developers are trying to make more money off the platforms they are using, which is fine. But Sony and Microsoft must realize this.. which makes me think they will start charging more for access to their networks to recoup that revenue. I have a feeling that the monthly or yearly cost of access to PSN or Xbox Live will be a big determining factor for what system will come out on top. -
Exactly. With all the great steam sales, the consoles would probably put gamestop out of business if they had a steam app. It would put an end to used games too. If you buy it off steam for 50% off, then the game company would get all the profit. Instead they charge full price and people resell it back to gamestop and all profit off those used games all goes to Gamestop. I'm honestly surprised companies aren't pushing the new console developers into adding a steam app just to increase their own profits. But the companies are mostly greedy. PSN digital download games never go on sale to the extent that the same games would on steam. Hell, I regretted buying Worms Reloaded on PS3 just because of the prices. About a month after I bought it on sale on PSN, steam had it for 50% off including all dlc. I ended up buying the game again because it ran better on my laptop.

Xbox 720 to require always on internet connection?
Sledgstone replied to Sledgstone's topic in Video Games
I usually download dlc or updates before I go to sleep at night so I can set the PS3 to auto turnoff after its all done. I think the rage thats been coming out is the possibility of "online required" I know a few people that have had financial hardships and needed to turn off their internet service to make sure they made their house payments. As long as they had single player campaigns they were able to keep playing BF3, CoD or any other game. I think if the new Xbox had "online required", then those gamers would most likely not get the system because of potential internet issues they might have to deal with again. If the game console was the only source of electronic entertainment in a household, one internet billing issue could screw these individuals out of having access to the potential hundreds of dollars of products they paid money for. I could understand how some games would require an internet connection to play because of copyright protection that was built into the game. StarCraft 2, SimCity.. but those games stated that an internet connection was required. But if one console requires that connection for all games, while another does not, then I could see why people would get pissed. -
Sony and MS must be making some decent money through transactions through their stores. Just like Steam keeps rolling in the money. Its a shame they have to rely on those transactions for revenue. If either of the new consoles had a Steam app, PC gaming would take a huge hit. Hell, if the new xbox had a steam app, I'd pre-order that system pretty quick. It would be the best of both worlds. Cheap games purchased off steam and a console with great hardware specs.

Based on online document leaks from last June and a Microsoft employee spilling the beans about internet requirements for the new system on Twitter a couple days ago, it seems as though the next Xbox console (Xbox 720?) will require an always online internet connection. This online connection would most likely be needed to initially load games and applications in the console. Even though always online connectivity is very common in a large majority of households, this could anger quite a few gamers. I suppose if my internet provider had an issue and my connection dropped out, I'd have to keep myself entertained by playing games on my PC, phone.. or anything other gaming platforms besides Microsoft's new console. Of course, my internet has only gone out once in the past year, so I doubt I'll have any problems. But we'll have to wait until Microsoft officially unveils the new console to see if this is true. Do you think this always online requirement could potentially hurt the new system? Sources: Polygon and The Verge Click here to view the article

Its nice to see Alienware making Linux gaming systems. The prices still need to come down a bit more to really pull more sales away from the consoles.
