  1. Wow. If they wanted those areas blocked off, they should have setup the perimeter to begin with. Holy crap. You'd almost think that was military dressed up in police outfits.
  2. This is going to be more of a rant on my part about US schools and isn't directed towards anyone and I don't mean to offend anyone reading this or the education they received. I think most kids attending middle school and high school in the US generally get a horrible education. Sure kids seem smarter because they know how to use the internet or can trouble shoot some computer problems while their grandparents don't know how to check their email, but my grandpa could do complex math equations without a calculator. I remember my high school math tests allowed calculators. Everyone could solve every problem except the harder paragraph formed questions. The reason they couldn't get those solved is because they couldn't figure out the right equation to type into the calculator to get the answer. But thats ok, because that just means they got an 80% on the test instead of a 100%. And who cares if they could actually do the math by hand or in their head? The kids I've talked to over the past year only care about school for socializing. And the schools don't seem to care about giving a proper education. But then again, some teachers really want their kids to learn, but the kids don't give a damn about their education. I've seen report cards with all F and the kid passes to the next grade. Why? because 55 is a passing grade. The kids even know that 55 can pass them, so as long as they keep their grade at 55 or above they don't care what the teacher says because they don't have to care to get their diploma. Heres an actual NY school with it posted on their website. Most don't have it publicly shown on a website because its fucking ridiculous that a failing grade will get you a high school diploma. http://www.ccs.edu/highschool/guidance/HS%20Grad%20Requirements%202010.pdf Hell, we actually got a letter from our school district saying that they increased their standards for a regular diploma to 65. wtf. And do high school failure rates reflect these failing grades? hell no, those kids got above 54 and passed! All you need for a diploma is to just attend school. No homework needs to be done, just fill out random blobs on a question sheet for a test and you're ready to join the military because you don't qualify for any grants or get accepted to good colleges. All no child left behind has accomplished is making schools look the other way to kid's educations in order to get funding from higher passing rates. The US doesn't even compare to other nation's education systems. In other nations, kids attend school to actually learn something not just socialize. And I can't find it off hand, but I'm pretty damn certain the minimum grade average for a high school diploma isn't a failing grade. To me, the US education system is set to keep the majority of generations dumb so they're more manageable by the government, media, etc. Their free education only gets them enough education to join the military or take out student loans that will only leave them in a life of debt for years because they don't qualify for free higher education because their grades are far below any real standards. Now back on topic, if extending school could help, fine, but I think they should set actual standards for education that will force kids to have to learn something to actually earn something like a diploma. So many kids think just being themselves is all they need to do with their lives but the reality is that school is work. And as it is now, if kids don't want to work on their education, they don't have to. Also, with current laws and child rights, nobody can force any kid in the US to actually learn anything.
  3. omg, I love that cat picture! kawaii! X'D

  4. I did not know he was immortal. I remember reading a thing about him having a love affair with Death tho, but hes immortal now? If he had a transfusion of hulk blood, then he should now be immune to all illnesses and diseases, which I guess is comparable to his healing factor or could jump start it... but I don't think he'll turn hulk. But then again, if she-hulk stays in a constant hulk form with full consciousness, then maybe deadpool will get a strong skin upgrade, grow a couple feet taller and get a mad powerful strength increase. In that case, Deadpool should then seek mental powers and then declare himself a physical god.
  5. Good points. People should also realize that the only way to keep pictures private is to print them yourselves and don't publish them online. Honestly, if I had baby pictures like that, I wouldn't want them printed at a walmart. At the walmart photo centers I've been to, you can see the pictures getting printed on the other side of the counter. I've even seen walmart employees stare at some pictures and show them to other employees or leave them on another counter face up. Theres no real privacy there. Sure they put the pics in a closed envelope, but people there go thru every picture.
  6. That was my understanding too.
  7. My brother recently bought a laptop from bestbuy. It wasn't the absolute top of the line, but it seemed to be pretty damn nice for around $800. I don't think what he bought is available anymore as he bought it on sale as an end of year model I think.. but then again, I could be wrong.
  8. So it was so huge you had to get rid of it!?
  9. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2009888946_webfoodsafety17.html http://foodsafety.gov/ I've had hot dogs in the freezer for more than 6 months and they turned out fine.
  10. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/business/stories/2009/09/30/saturn_closing.html?sid=101 Wow. I just assumed Saturn would have been bought... but then again GM turned Saturn into crap over the years. Its a shame tho, Saturn started off so good.
  11. This reminds me of an old post I made a while back: [ame=http://forums.ancientclan.com/showpost.php?p=104605&postcount=3]Ancient Clan Forums - View Single Post - Israeli minister vows ‘war to the bitter end’[/ame] Our education system is seriously lacking compared to other nations.
  12. CPS is run by a bunch of f*cking idiots. They take kids away from parents that didn't do anything wrong, but some kids should be removed from families and they do absolutely nothing about it.
  13. I just watched an episode of Monster Quest, it was about Bigfoot in New York. I think he slept for many many years and then woke up, saw Selene and thought she looked like Sonja and then made her a vampire. But then again, I'm probably remembering it wrong.
  14. Inuyasha The Final Act Starts Streaming October 3! http://www.hulu.com/inuyasha New episodes start on Saturday.
  15. They took the first video offline. I didn't get to see it, was it that bad?
  16. We come to the conclusion that we will sell the Blazer. We'll end up taking a loss on the loan, but the vehicle's constant maintenance is not worth it. At the current rate of random repairs, we'll actually loose more money keeping the truck than taking the initial loss from a trade in. We're going to look into getting a full or mid size 4 door 4 cylinder sedan. 4x4 is a damn nice feature, but the maintenance and cost is pure hell.
  17. I'm shocked. It appears as though my first attempt at fixing the leak has actually fixed the leak. I might have a picture of the actual leaking joint, but I did not get a picture of the patch work. I was lucky to get it done in the time I had when the rain stopped. Of course the service engine soon light is on now. I have a feeling its the MAF sensor. I either put it back on in reverse or I need to clean it. gah. Thats not difficult at all tho.
  18. Seriously. One of my fillings popped out and I had to get it fixed. I'm just glad I didn't swallow it. I'm hesitant about this vaccine. The side effects could be more dangerous than the flu. And instead of a new baby boom generation, the mercury in the flu shot could create a new autism boom generation.
  19. I thought Serenity was pretty good... but yes, it was slow at some points. It helps if you've seen the 13 episode series Firefly before watching the movie, but its not necessary for the plot, you just get more insight to the characters.
  20. I looks like the Sasuke love the mangaka has will allow Sasuke to hold his own against multiple kages and he'll be able to escape because he'll be chasing after Danzo who has now fled.. Thats what I was expecting, until this chapter.. but that can easily be a get out of jail free card for Sasuke, or more like a "save his ass when facing immanent death card." X'D
  21. Looks like all the espada arrancars have been defeated. So will Aizen own everyone all by himself now? Or will he bust out some vasto lorde arrancars that will own everyone? Maybe he'll just bring out one new guy that will take out all the shinijami because they are all nothing compared to the ultra power that is Aizen and his main top guys.. and then the royal guard will be that much more powerful themselves... but if thats the case, why even bother with the espada at all and just but out an overwhelming force to just instant own everyone thats currently there? I wonder how it'll play out.
  22. http://video.syfy.com/shows/universe/promos_trailers_4/ Looks like it'll have some good action. But if they have any characters that are anything like the idiot team of Sheppard, Ronin and Teyla, I'll drop this series.
  23. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2009938638_vaccine25m.html Holy shit. Only 15 percent of swine flu shots will be mercury free. And they'll be injecting small children, babies and pregnant women first.
  24. http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/09/sydney-dust-storm-from-space/ Holy shit!
