  1. If Ron Paul or Hillary or whoever wants to try again in 4 years they will. Arguing about them folks not running for president is kinda like
  2. I'll go out on a limb here and say that most Americans don't want any more war, we want out of the shit mess we're in. McCain will stay in Iraq (and wherever else Bush has our troops fighting before he checks out). A republican in the white house = continued war. People are tired of the bankers getting perversely rich off of all of this fighting. Obama on the other hand wants out, but does he have feasible an exit strategy?. He isn't exactly brimming with for. policy experience. The shittin mess Bush is leaving in the middle east falls on the next guy's shoulders to clean up. It is and will be a huge issue to the voters. I like RP's idea declare victory and leave
  3. Its a nice color not too dark. Yer skin looks good too. Do you get breakouts with yer pregers~ness?
  4. Congrats to Obama and McCain. One of these guys is our next president. Before this began I was a democrat from NY. During the primaries I supported my senator for the nomination. I can remember "The Clinton Years" and compared to how things are now that was a fuckin golden age I am absolutely not saying we should go back to that. I am saying we need out of where we are now. I watched all the speeches and hoo ha last night because I am concerned that my party is too divided right now. Personally I think the media needs to fuckin back off for a minute here. They're villanizing her and needling him. That is not what this party needs right now. Look at the #'s both candidates pulled. They both got people out to vote. They got the party excited about taking back the white house. It was a close race reguardless of the way the press likes to paint it. Voters matter, not just delegates. We matter and 18 million voters gave their vote to Hillary Clinton. That is significant. As a party we have to now swing all of those Hillary votes to Obama. Be 4real here for a minute. There were a lot of people that wanted Hillary Clinton in the position because of what she brought to the presidency; her plans and experience. Housing, health care, green jobs; a real shot in the arm to the struggling middle class. I loved what she said What do I want? I want ... She has stayed with this because those voting for her wouldn't let her quit. We used her to be a voice nearly 18 million strong. For her to just say eh its over would be horrible. It would be a betrayal to the people and the ideas she is pushing for cuz we're pushing her. This has been a long crazy ordeal. There's nothing wrong with thankin her peeps and saying I'm takin a freaking breather. Fuck people let the woman take a frigin nap. Today is her 80 year old momz b-day People nagging after Obama about her is not helping. Relax. They'll hook up and have a meeting no press. When they step out of said meeting they'll be all smiles she'll start shifting her supporters his way he'll praise her and the people who believed in her. Give the split party time to merge. If by July it looks Obama can't take McCain (the politicians are already playing with their maps) they put Hillary on the ticket as VP and spin it as the ultimate dream team that unites all democrats.
  5. you don't think...he'll stop this part of the story here 00 and go back to the fighting about to happen in the present....do ya....
  6. 4real An airline passenger claimed that a security guard threatened to arrest him because he was wearing a T-shirt showing a cartoon robot with a gun. Brad Jayakody, 30, from London, said he was stopped from passing through security at Heathrow's Terminal 5 after his Transformers T-shirt was deemed 'offensive.' The IT consultant was set to fly off on a business trip to Dusseldorf in Germany when he was pulled to one side. Brad Jayakody wearing the Transformers T-shift which caused offence at Heathrow Mr Jayakody said the first guard started joking with him about the Transformers character depicted on his French Connection T-shirt. '"Then he explains that since Megatron is holding a gun, I'm not allowed to fly,' he said. 'It's a 40ft tall cartoon robot with a gun as an arm. There is no way this shirt is offensive in any way, and what I'm going to use the shirt to pretend I have a gun? He was cooperative with the supervisor and took off the the 'offensive' T-shirt, replacing it with another shirt in his carry on luggage. A spokesman for Heathrow operator BAA said: 'If a T-shirt had a rude word or a bomb on it, for example, a passenger may be asked to remove it. 'We are investigating what happened to see if it came under this category. 'If it's offensive, we don't want other passengers upset.' He said there was no record of the incident and the passenger 'certainly didn't make a formal complaint at the time.' .....................4real?
  7. Help us pass the “Read the Bills Act” (RTBA) You can read the text of RTBA by clicking the Draft Legislation tab above, or you can start by reading a summary of the legislation below. Following that summary is a description of our strategy for passing RTBA, and then a call to action. Part 1: What RTBA does and why Most Congressmen are lawyers, and many others are businessmen. They know what “fiduciary responsibility” is. For Members of Congress, fiduciary responsibility means reading each word of every bill before they vote. But Congress has not met this duty for a long time. Instead . . . They carelessly pass mammoth bills that none of them have read. Sometimes printed copies aren't even available when they vote! Often no one knows what these bills contain, or what they really do, or what they will really cost. Additions and deletions are made at the last minute, in secrecy. They combine unpopular proposals with popular measures that few in Congress want to oppose. (This practice is called “log-rolling.”) And votes are held with little debate or public notice. Oh, and once these bills are passed, and one of these unpopular proposals comes to light, they pretend to be shocked. “How did that get in there?” they say. There's a basic principle at stake here. America was founded on the slogan, “No taxation without representation.” A similar slogan applies to this situation: “No LEGISLATION without representation.” We hold this truth to be self-evident, that those in Congress who vote on legislation they have not read, have not represented their constituents. They have misrepresented them. And since Congress has repeatedly committed “legislation without representation,” strong measures to prohibit these Congressional misrepresentations are both justified and required. To this end we have created the “Read the Bills Act (RTBA).” RTBA requires that . . . Each bill, and every amendment, must be read in its entirety before a quorum in both the House and Senate. Every member of the House and Senate must sign a sworn affidavit, under penalty of perjury, that he or she has attentively either personally read, or heard read, the complete bill to be voted on. Every old law coming up for renewal under the sunset provisions must also be read according to the same rules that apply to new bills. Every bill to be voted on must be published on the Internet at least 7 days before a vote, and Congress must give public notice of the date when a vote will be held on that bill. Passage of a bill that does not abide by these provisions will render the measure null and void, and establish grounds for the law to be challenged in court. Congress cannot waive these requirements. The effects of these provisions will be profound . . . Congress will have to slow down. This means the pace of government growth will also slow. Bills will shrink, be less complicated, and contain fewer subjects, so that Congress will be able to endure hearing them read. Fewer bad proposals will be passed due to “log-rolling.” No more secret clauses will be inserted into bills at the last moment. Government should shrink as old laws reach their sunset date, and have to be read for the first time before they can be renewed. And all of these things will enable a larger DownsizeDC.org to more effectively lobby Congress for small government. Part 2: Our Strategy for passing RTBA Our plan for passing this legislation is simple, but powerful. We have submitted a copy of RTBA to every member of Congress. We are asking every member of the House and Senate to sponsor this legislation and work for its passage. We are mounting a campaign to recruit thousands, and perhaps millions of Americans to lobby Congress to support RTBA. We are promoting this campaign with a variety of tactics, from Internet networking, to media interviews, to whatever it takes. We will run targeted radio ads, letting citizens know that their Congressman is failing to support this badly needed reform. The need for this reform is so self-evident that nearly every person in America should support it, and few oppose it. We see no reason why we should not be able to overwhelm Congress with calls to pass this legislation. We dare Congress not to pass it. The more they resist, the larger and stronger we will grow. We dare anyone to challenge it in Court. The more the lobbyists attempt to defeat this reform, the larger and stronger we will grow. We dare the Courts to declare it un-Constitutional. If they do, we will grow larger and stronger as a result — probably big enough to begin a campaign to amend the Constitution to forbid “LEGISLATION without representation.” There is simply no reason that any normal, tax-paying American should oppose RTBA. And the more the “powers that be” resist these reforms, the larger and stronger we will grow. We win either way. And thus, we believe, we will win in the end. Part 3: A Call to Action You can help pass RTBA. All you have to do is register to use our easy Electronic Lobbyist system and send a message to your Representative and your Senators asking them to pass RTBA. Registering to use our system will also enable you to lobby Congress on other issues, and to receive our free email newsletter, Downsizer-Dispatch. This free email newsletter will keep you posted on progress with RTBA and other Downsize DC lobbying campaigns. To send your message to Congress in support of RTBA click here. Thank you. 9. The Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska is a crown jewel of our nation's public lands. Wild salmon, grizzly bears, bald eagles, and wolves thrive among the millions of acres of lush, ancient forests and healthy, intact watersheds. The Tongass also features over 9 million acres of roadless forest lands -- heritage forests that are critical to the survival of many of the species that make their home there. In a last-minute attack on one of America's wildest and most ecologically valuable national forests, the Bush administration recently adopted a new management plan for the Tongass that leaves 2.3 million acres of pristine roadless areas open to logging, road building, and other development. If implemented, this plan will jeopardize many of the species the Center -- and our e-activists -- have worked to protect. This plan is only the last in a long series of attempts by the current administration to remove protection for the undeveloped roadless lands of the Tongass and across the country. On May 15, the Center, along with our conservation allies, filed an administrative challenge to the Bush plan asking the Forest Service to protect the roadless areas of the Tongass. Now it's your turn. Please send a letter to Gail Kimbell, chief of the Forest Service, and urge the agency to protect the roadless areas on the Tongass and across the nation. Tempers too. May 30, 2008 Print Send Cypriot Channel, Turkey — Three Turkish tuna fishing vessels surrounded the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise in the Cypriot Channel, with crew from one vessel attacking the ship with lead weights. Greenpeace is in the area to call for an end to unsustainable fishing and to call for the establishment of a marine reserve between Cyprus and Turkey. We flew over the ships early this morning to document the activities of tuna fishing vessels. Three Turkish vessels then surrounded the Greenpeace ship -- one colliding with the Arctic Sunrise and causing superficial damage midships on the starboard side. The tuna ship's crews then started hurling lead fishing weights of around four centimetres at the Greenpeace ship. Gunfire was heard. Amazingly, no one was injured but the Greenpeace helicopter was damaged and is now inoperable. The Greenpeace ships Captain notified the Turkish Iskenderun Port Authority and reported the damage. "This unprovoked attack against the Arctic Sunrise, a peaceful protest ship, endangered the safety of our crew and ship and is completely unacceptable, we urge the ships owners to instruct their crews to return to port for an immediate investigation," said Greenpeace International Oceans campaigner Karli Thomas, on board the Arctic Sunrise. The real bad guys: governments "We understand that these guys are angry -- we're angry too. But the real problem has been caused by the refusal of governments to take action to regulate an industry that is fishing itself to death," Said Banu Dokmecibasi, Greenpeace Mediterranean Oceans Campaigner. Scientists from the international body which regulates tuna fishing, ICCAT, recommended a maximum sustainable catch of 15,000 tons of bluefin tuna, to be divided among all the countries licensed to fish in the Mediterranean. The Turkish fleet comprises more than 200 purse seiners in total, with enough catch capacity to fish the entire 15,000 tons. Turkey has an allocated quota of less than 900 tons. We're calling on the Turkish government to support the protection of the Cypriot Channel, one of the most productive tuna breeding areas in the Eastern Mediterranean, as a marine reserve. The Turkish government should immediately revoke all permits for domestic fleets to fish in the channel. "Marine reserves are urgently needed to protect the future of marine life, including tuna. The population of tuna is close to extinction - if we don't protect the breeding and spawning grounds now there will be no fish for the future. By protecting tuna, fishermen can protect their own future." Said Banu Dokmecibasi, Greenpeace Mediterranean Oceans Campaigner. Greenpeace is campaigning for a global network of fully protected marine reserves covering 40 percent of our oceans as an essential way to protect our seas from the ravages of climate change, to restore the health of fish stocks, and protect ocean life from habitat destruction and collapse. As part of this campaign, the Arctic Sunrise is currently in the Mediterranean documenting threats to the sea and promoting the designation of marine reserves. At the same time, our vessel Esperanza is calling for marine reserves in the Pacific. You can add your voice to our efforts without risking seasickness or getting anything thrown at you.
  11. The other religious nuts probably don't want their compounds investigated
  12. Corporations also create poverty financially and environmentally which is why they don't go on unchallenged. Our (and other) govts don't do enough to keep the corps in check so the task falls to us citizens. when we get together with the same ideas and we become groups like gp wwf cbd. This is our earth too. It doesn't belong to just the corporations. Its up to us to make sure they remember and respect that. Protests demonstrations lawsuits and email campaigns aren't extreme. Its checks and balance.

  14. not to sound like a bitch but if you've had 3 miscarriages I hope you're planning to get fixed after you have this one. for your own physical and mental wellness and the mental wellness of those around you.
  15. .... the problem isn't farming fish. the problem is 6 billion people wanna eat and you can't grow enough fish in tanks to feed them. the problem is bottom trawling and line fishing to catch massive amounts of fish to feed the world is destroying ecosystems our food needs to live and propagate. the problem is the destructive practices of commercial fishing. the greenpeace organization has been confronting government and corporations world wide to adopt environmentally friendly policies for years. if you look at their website or subscribe to their newsletters and campaigns like some people around here do you would realize you're mistaken. without groups like greenpeace, the world wildlife fund, center for biological diversity etc corporations would rape and pollute the planet to our death.
  16. Can't agree with ya there, I've got a 13 year old daughter. I don't really care how the state got involved I'm just glad that they did. The sickos not only approve of under 18 sex marriage and pregnancy, its a lifestyle they force upon their own children under the guise of religion. I don't care what deity you're praising its just damn wrong. These girls haven't even finished growing and they're married off to some pedophile. The human population isn't suffering so badly we need more children having children. Who am I to judge? Well for starters I'm a mom. Before anybody rips into me they better have a 13 year old daughter of their own yo.
