Media distribution companies want to protect their cash flow, but technology as a whole is minimizing their role. Yay. For decades the record co's have made a fat profit off of artists and individual songs (thus Metallica created their own co to produce/distribute their albums.) Just about any song you could want is available online for 99 cents or less. You can watch many series online for free. Software can turn any room in your house into a recording studio, making you the producer/director/talent. Netflicks and their ilk have all but eliminated the necessity for hard copy dvds. Even fan vid's can get viral. I think everyone here has seen Trigun/Cowboy Bebop Tainted Doughnuts. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9e_WIoJJnI]YouTube - Tainted Donuts- Trigun meets Cowboy Bebop[/ame] I used to go check out youtube fan vids to find new music, but the videos have become unavailable or had their audio pulled. As a result I am less inclined to experience new music and artists I may be interested in/willing to patronize. 9 times out of 10 I will look at vids of a series on youtube before I decide to watch it or skip it. IMO the only time youtube/insert greedy affiliate here gets it right is when they leave the vid and throw an ad up next to it. The fan vids themselves are free advertising for music and the series in the vid. The chances of me uploading a fan vid (including AC Fest) to youtube again are slim to none. They've smacked my account enough and I want to keep my account as I've had playlists for years. The music and series I like can't be shared because I'm not Warner Bros. Maybe while the 'big guys' are pickin on the 'little guys' they should try to remember we're their customers and yes, we do talk to each other.

I imagine its difficult for them to keep up w/ viral vids. Some shitz get out there, downloaded and re-uploaded pretty fast. I hate their new page layout. Hate the new program or whatever that reads the song on the vid yer uploading and if it matches one in their greedy asshole database ya get userfail - as I learned personally w a fest vid to Wipe Out, a song older then dirt . The youassholes have been brutal when it comes to fan vids. Yoinking the audio or straight up bumping the vid offline. I have - or should I say had- multiple playlists where 1/2 the vids are 'no longer available'. Formerly youtube was a place to share all yer shitz, now its a place where ya better be careful what you upload or you'll get the boot. lame fail

I have sad news. Yellowstone National Park's famous Cottonwood Pack has just been destroyed -- all the adult wolves have been killed, and the surviving pups will likely die without the rest of their wolf family. The Cottonwoods are just some of the latest victims of the federal government's likely illegal decision to eliminate vital protections for our wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the northern Rockies. Unless we are successful in urging Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to reverse this bad decision, hundreds more wolves will be killed. Please sign our petition and urge Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to immediately take action to restore protections for these amazing animals. http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=jy25TTOy_bPzw7egm6rAqA.. The Cottonwood wolves are not alone. They're among the more than 60 wolves already killed in the region -- a disturbingly high number for a hunting season only weeks old. I was there when the first wolves were reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park, and I have personally guided Defenders members to watch the Cottonwood Pack. It is particularly heartbreaking to see one of America's greatest conservation victories slip from our grasp because of a policy mistake. But there is still time to correct it -- and if we act quickly, we can still save the lives of literally hundreds of wolves in the region. Our wolves need your voice -- and the support of as many others as possible who care about the future of these magnificent animals. Sign this important petition today. We will personally hand-deliver your signatures to the Department of the Interior as a powerful statement that America supports a lasting future for our wolves. http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=JTex0hOB0PzKlGS_TGlLcA.. The next few weeks will be crucial for our wolves in this region. The truth is, the future of wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the northern Rockies is at a crossroads -- and it will take the voices of caring wildlife supporters like you to make a difference. Last month, a federal judge ruled that we are likely to win our lawsuit to restore protections for these beloved wolves. But with the lives of hundreds of wolves at stake, we can't wait for the final ruling on our case -- a ruling that will likely not come for many months. Please sign our petition to Secretary Salazar today. http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=99LiEWBHINZwKBGJWd9Png.. The Cottonwood wolves were not the first victims of the flawed delisting -- and they certainly won't be the last. The time has come to correct the unacceptable error made by the Obama administration that continues to erode one of the greatest conservation victories of the last century. Please lend your voice to help save our wolves. http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=qTdrocuylCr3ws0QlTXtqw.. Together, we can ensure that wolves will be an enduring part of America. Sincerely, Rodger Schlickeisen President Defenders of Wildlife

Protect Arctic Wildlife from Unregulated Shipping

Sea ice in the Arctic is disappearing as global warming causes climate change. Less ice will extend the shipping season, putting marine animals into more frequent contact with ships while they migrate. Demand stricter shipping regulations to protect Arctic wildlife! >> http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFQn./zJwr/ANR12 More shipping will also introduce invasive species and increase the risk of oil spills. Who's in danger? Beluga whales will be disturbed in the Bering Strait between Alaska and Russia where they share a narrow corridor with ships. Polar bear cubs and seal pups are also in particular danger from oil spills. In our fight against global warming, we need to take a preventative approach. Reducing the effects of climate change will not happen overnight, so in the meantime, we must adjust to the hazardous conditions that put our most valuable wildlife in danger. Urge Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to impose stricter shipping regulations in the Arctic >> http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFQn./zJwr/ANR12 Thank you for take action to protect polar bear cubs and other marine animals in our Arctic environments. Best, Karina M. Care2 Petition Site Team

Meet Melanie Shouse. A few years ago, Melanie was living the American dream when she transformed an old Domino's storefront into an expansion of her home business. But just as the store was opening, Melanie was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and told she had only months to live. Melanie had insurance, and she went straight to the experts at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. Working with the world-renowned doctors there, she's beaten the odds and stayed healthy for years. But now her insurance company, a subsidiary of WellPoint, is refusing to pay for the medication her doctors recommend. Now, meet Wellpoint CEO Angela Braly. She makes almost $10 million a year in salary and stock benefits, and then defends dropping people's insurance when they get sick. Next week, Angela will be in Washington, D.C. attending a convention of the biggest insurance company executives in America. This conference is a great opportunity to confront insurance company CEOs who deny care to increase profits. That's why Melanie Shouse will be there. Isn't it time that insurance company CEOs come face to face with those Americans who've been denied care? Melanie thinks so, and that why we're joining our friends at TrueMajority Action and standing with her. Please add your name to their petition of support right now. SIGN TRUE MAJORITY'S STATEMENT OF SUPPORT NOW http://dfa2.convio.net/site/R?i=38SrEJY_m7XhtnGqT2TE3Q.. TrueMajority has been keeping the pressure on Wellpoint's Angela Braly and other insurance company CEOs for weeks now. They've banged on the doors of their mansions, run ads on TV, and held rallies in front of the offices of three of the biggest insurance companies in America. These companies -- Cigna, WellPoint and UnitedHealth -- insure millions of people, and then make massive profits by finding loopholes and denying care. They aren't interested in helping the sick. They have CEO bonuses to pay and shareholders to make happy. That's why, next week when all three companies' CEOs will be in D.C. to congratulate themselves on making record-breaking salaries while demanding members of Congress oppose the choice of a public option, Melanie won't let their visit go unchallenged. It's up to us to support Melanie and arm her with the strength of thousands of Americans standing with her. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TODAY http://dfa2.convio.net/site/R?i=lByQhZiQM9WuOnlKWCMe6w.. Sign today and we'll make sure your signature is delivered to Wellpoint, Cigna, UnitedHealth and members of Congress next week. Thank you for everything you do. -Charles Charles Chamberlain, Political Director Democracy for America

Monserrate Walks on Felonies; Guilty of Misdemeanor Assault
Ladywriter posted a topic in News Column
NBC NY SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FROM THE TRIAL In the video, Monserrate's girlfriend, Karla Giraldo, can be seen grabbing hold of a banister for support as he yanks her away. She then attempts to ring a neighbor's doorbell while clutching her bloody face before Monserrate again pulls her away. Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/22/hiram-monserrate-video-ta_n_295225.html NARAL Pro-Choice New York Calls for Senator Monserrate’s Ouster: “In the wake of his assault conviction, NARAL Pro-Choice New York strongly condemns Senator Hiram Monserrate and unequivocally calls for his immediate ouster....Our message to the Senate is urgent and clear: if ...you do not remove this individual from office, we will.” As if I didn't hate my senate enough already for the bullshit they pulled over the summer. Any eye trained to recognize domestic violence can see that he is an abuser. He yanks her around and doesn't let her go back for the towel she was holding against her face because he doesn't want it drawing attention to them in public. Part of the abuse cycle is that the abuser intimidates the victim into remaining silent about the abuse; she didn't cooperate with prosecutors. This piece of shit needs to get lost right fucking now. -

its sad that ppl have to be manipulated to get off their lazy ass and I think anyone that had to listen to that all day would probably be ready to blow their head off by 5 o'clock Its a nice idea, the heart was kinda in the right place ie make people happy, but I look at Why they did it. Using people's lazy as a marketing tool. It's too bad they couldn't have found a way to make it harmonious so it wouldn't be so annoying to listen to. They had the camera out there all day, they chose the least annoying and cute clips to throw into a commercial. I'm all for manipulating people into doing something good for their mind and body The dept of Trans should be forced to watch this commercial I take the stairs anyway

It is disturbing that John McCain's name appears on the list of 30 senators that deserve to be voted out of office. Imagine if this lunatic had won the presidential election. It's more then unfortunate the repug party has become what they are, but dissolution is impossible with so many followers. Most of these people claim to be "good Christians" yet they vote to protect corporations instead of people (so do conserve-a-Dems), have rape victims pay for their own kits, and would deny them an abortion if the victim became prego as a result of the assault (repugs are pro lifers). With so many "good Christians" supporting these policies I can only conclude that all Christians are small minded, hateful, misogynists therefore not just the repug party needs to go, so does all of Christianity as these elected by Christians Christian officials are voting in the way that represents their barbaric religion instead of logic, reason and compassion. Religion has no place in politics. People are capable of being moral without it.
