  1. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-04-19/violet-evergarden-gets-side-story-anime-in-september-before-january-10-film/.145901 Even though I'm sure it'll take forever for Netflix to get it it's still more Violet Evergarden and nothing could be better then that.
  2. See I just can't agree with not putting Shadowgraph and Whiteout as your favorite OP and ED, they're just so damn good that no song beats them out (I have not been this in love with an OP/ED since Violet Evergarden's Sincerely and FMP's What If). Then again I am loving Demon Slayer's OP from this season so that may change. Zombie Land Saga is such a wonderful show and I didn't even think I'd like it until I watched Mother's Basement video on the top anime to watch of that season. Much like you I'm not into the whole idol anime craze that's been big for the last few years (hey, I love a good cute girls anime but they all honestly fall flat for me) but this show makes fun of the whole genre while being it's own idol anime. Such lovable characters (Saki is best girl, I'll fight whoever doesn't agree (yes I love Tae but Saki is just to fucking awesome)), the OST is amazing, and while the CG is kind of jarring in quite a few places it's still damn good. Overall one of the best shows of it's season and I really hope they bring out a second season of this amazing show. Goblin Slayer I wasn't overly impressed with. Yes it's a good show but I feel it got way to much hype for the first episode and everyone just loved it for it's gritty take on the fantasy genre (the original author is a big fan of D&D so this entire show plays out like a D&D campaign). I love the characters (especially Dwarf and the Lizard dude), the animation is really good, fight scenes are very well animated and gritty as fuck, and the OST is pretty damn good but honestly after I got over the hype I just don't see why everyone is head over heals for it (I love a great dark and gritty fantasy story but this just didn't do it for me). Honestly I think shows like Grimgar are worthy of praise for being a darker take on the fantasy genre but keeping it more grounded and not using things like rape to sell it's premise. That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime is such a great show and I'm extremely glad it's getting a second season (which is going to be quite a bit darker then what we've had so far). Rimuru is such a great character and such a compassionate person/slime. I honestly don't know what else I can say about it other than this is probably one of my favorites from it's season because of the mix of humor and seriousness. Gridman is such a blast as I've said before. This is what a Super Senshi show should be, completely off the wall with a completely bonkers plot that fucking just works. I honestly didn't think I'd like it because I normally don't go for these types of shows (I grew out of my Power Rangers and Ultraman faze a long time ago) but this was a fun ride from start to finish. I really wish I could get my hands on the live-action Gridman show because this is apparently a sequel to it and I'd love to see the original story. I loved the characters, the kaiju were amazing, this is probably the only show I've seen in recent years that uses CGI effectively with traditional animation, as mentioned above the story is pretty out there and off the wall but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the show, and the OST is pretty killer in its own right. Definitely a show worth watching. As it stands Boogiepop is currently my anime of the year because it's such an amazing show and deals with a lot of heavy shit once you start reading into it a lot more. While I've never read the source material (which I'd love to, just need to get my hands on the books) I instantly fell in love with the show because of it's eccentric story and generally relatable characters. Plus each arc was interesting in its own way (though I think I enjoyed the 3rd arc the most when they introduced the origin of Boogiepop's name) though some are quite a bit better than others (I wasn't a huge fan of the arc you liked, interesting but I thought it was the dullest of the four). It also helps that I've seen the original anime sequel for the books (Boogiepop Phantom) which in itself is a huge trip. I'd say if you like shows like Serial Experiments Lain (meaning shows that make you think outside of the box) this is definitely a show up your alley and as I mentioned above that OP and ED are fucking amazing. I really wish you'd of gotten the chance to watching Bunny-girl Senpai since it's such an amazing show (and if you want a catchy OP this ones got your back). Sucks it didn't get a simuldub but it'd definitely be one of the shows I'd say to watch subbed if you can. Can't wait for the movie since it'll wrap the entire story up. I really need to sit down and start watching My Roommate is a Cat because I've heard nothing but good things about it but I was wrapped up in watching Boogiepop, SAO, and Slime to find the time. Maybe once I get through the current show I'm watching I'll start it, Quintessential Quintuplets, and The Promised Neverland. I still need to also find time to watch Kaguya-sama, Magic Girl Spec-Ops (yea, for some reason I want to watch this mess due to the shitty reviews it's been getting), and the first Peacemaker Kurogane film (the anime was freaking amazing so I really want to watch this and I'm so happy CR got the streaming rights for it).
  3. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the Old Republic being the setting for the next trilogy. While I'm glad they're going with it I'm scared about what they'll consider canon going forward because as it stands I really like the current, legends continuity we have with KoToR and TOR (I say legends because we're not entirely sure what current Old Republic stuff is even considered canon as of right now). It'll be a huge miss for me if they write out a lot of the currently established characters (like Revan or Vitiate (the Sith Emperor (though he's dead now it'd suck if they completely wrote him out)). It's pretty much been established that Rey isn't Luke's kid (and it's pretty unlikely Mara is canon anymore though it'd be cool if she was) but I wouldn't be surprised if she is somehow related to the Skywalkers (technically Kylo is a Solo with Skywalker blood so the only living Skywalker we know of is Leia though it's been established her role won't be as big anymore due to Carrie's untimely passing). Then again J.J. could be completely fucking with us and throw a huge curve ball at us. Who knows? With the way these movies have panned out so far there really isn't anything that could surprise me anymore (fuck Palps coming back is honestly par for the course now that Snoke is dead since we have no big baddie to face right now (Bitch Vader will never be anything comparable to Snoke, Palps, of good old Granddaddy Vader)). I was watching a youtube video today speculating that what we heard was actually a holo-recording of Palps that they find on the wreckage of the Death Star which could very well be (using it as a plot point for some sinister plan he was working on in secret before he up and died that Snoke was pursuing and Kylo will maybe finish, who knows).
  4. Not exactly going to jump on the hype train on this one yet but it looks like it'll be the first worth while SW game since KoToR.
  5. Unless they changed the reasoning with the new Disney Lore double-bladed lightsabers were pretty much an extreme rarity in the SW universe at this point in time (the only real user being Darth Maul at this point in time and the Inquisitors from Rebels) so I'm not overly surprised she stuck to a traditional lightsaber (again not entirely sure what's considered canon anymore but I do know in legends double-bladed sabers were not in use (Maul only chose it after learning of Exar Kun and his mastery of the weapon) and they were never really a big thing with the Jedi as a whole so Rey probably never found the schematics in the information she took from the tree (if I remember correctly double-bladed sabers were developed by the Sith much like the original lightsaber was)). With the new canon a blue saber is perfect for her and I'm assuming she took the crystal from the remnants of Anakin's destroyed saber before she left the ship (if it wasn't the reason the saber exploded in the first place) since, at this point in time, finding a kyber crystal would be extremely difficult since Palps pretty much made it illegal to own them and without prior knowledge she wouldn't even know where to find one (fuck this new lore though, makes it harder to explain this stuff). Plus it'd have to be a pre-used crystal as with new lore a crystal only gets it's color by forming a bond with the user and there are only two real colors that we know of coming from this (blue and green, there are no explanations for the other colors outside of red and white in canon atm (which is only brought forth by making a crystal bleed (red) and healing a bleeding crystal (white)). Unless this movie takes place quite a few years after The Last Jedi there is no way Rey would of had time to sufficiently bond with a crystal to bring it's color out (but based on her actions her blade would be blue regardless). Palps being back makes sense if they're going the Dark Empire route here but I'm just assuming he's a force ghost (as much as people would have you believe Sith were capable of becoming force ghosts, just not in the same fashion as Jedi). Then again we might be seeing him back in his prime inside a clone body (that or his ass was Snoke all along and moved his essence into another body after Snoke's death). I'm assuming he's going to be the thing pushing Bitch Vader forward (yea I renamed him) towards a new goal. Rey had over a 1000 generations of Jedi text and lore in her possession when she left Luke so it's nor far off to say she has that in her if she read the texts (which I'm sure she did as there is no other way for her to build a lightsaber unless Luke's ghost stuck around to teach her, we'll know more once the movie and more trailers come out). My only real question is why are we calling this Rise of Skywalker? Are we implying that Rey is actually related to the Skywalker lineage in some way? I've been seeing theories on Twitter that she might actually be the same as Anakin being born directly from the force using him as a template (meaning old Palps continued his Master's research). Does Bitch Vader come crawling back to the light side after not getting his way becoming what he was meant to be? Did Han and Leia have another kid they never mentioned to anyone or did Luke get lucky one night only to result in a child he never knew of? This name choice confuses to fuck out of me and it's the only real reason I'll watch this movie (I still treat the other two as AU movies having nothing to do with the actual SW canon) when it comes to DVD/BD (again I refuse to see it in theaters).
  6. Meh..............Nice to see Lando is back though.
  7. It'll still suck no matter how you try to sugar coat it because no matter what they try to adapt they'll fuck it up (meaning ideas or plot points). Though I do agree with that man you have to respect the sexiness that is Turn-A,
  8. They're doing the same thing for Shadowbringers when it comes out (sadly but whatever, I only ordered it for all the special little goodies I'm getting with it). It's more common with PC games but I honestly don't know why they do it (outside of charging for the packaging) if the game is digital only. As much as I hate it this is what gaming is going to and sadly I'm slowly adopting it (I don't like the idea of buying a digital download since we technically don't own the game (and the fact they have the audacity to charge $60 for a digital download is fucking retarded), just a license to play it which can be lost a lot easier then a physical copy (especially if you get hacked or locked out of your account)). Plus with console manufacturers refusing to give us consoles with hard drives that can actually install more than four games it's harder to get on board with it (I'm fine with digital purchases on PC since its a lot easier to upgrade your storage or get external storage (that doesn't require you to format it for a specific console), that and I'm slowly starting to move to PC gaming since console gaming isn't worth it anymore). Most of my PS4 games I own physical copies for (outside of Nier, Ace Combat 7, Detroit, and Destiny 2 and the free ones we get every month), then again I'm not lazy and don't have a problem with switching discs when I want to play something new 😛
  9. Watched Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse tonight and I have to say the movie was spectacular and definitely lived up to all the hype surrounding it. Probably one of my favorite superhero movies now and I fully understand why it won an Oscar.

Story was great from start to finish, though I really don't know what to think of the animation style it certainly worked in this movies favor (a little jarring at first but I was definitely starting to feel it toward the end), and while I'm not usually into the music used into the show I have to say the soundtrack is fucking awesome. Kinda wish I would of went to see this in the theater but that didn't really diminish my enjoyment of the movie.

Really hope we get another one like this (seems there is a sequel of sorts in the works and a few spin-offs as well) because it definitely deserves one. I also have to say the Spider-Man Noir is probably going down as my favorite Spider-Man.

  10. While I have yet to touch a Witcher game CDPR has never failed to deliver a stellar game from what I've heard from friends so I'm pretty damn sure Cyberpunk will be everything it's hyped to be and more (yes I am on the hype train for this and am actually considering buying a PS4 Pro just for this game (well that and my PS4 is showing its age pretty badly as of late) because I'm pretty sure my PC will kill itself trying to run it) and CDPR is probably one of the few developers that never cuts corners to bring games out (the joy of having the Polish government funding their studio). I honestly don't get hyped much anymore but this is probably one of the only titles I'm hyped from outside of Shadowbringers. I'm just really hoping it releases this year (and not around Shadowbringers like rumors are suggesting). Kojima will deliver a pretty solid game even if it's not what everyone is expecting. I've only played MGS2 and only half of it at that (great game but I just never had time to finish it) but considering how outstanding Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2 were I have complete faith Kojima will deliver an outstanding game. Now if only he could wrestle the ZoE IP from Konami (hey a man can dream can't he). I have no opinion on Borderlands as I've never been interested in the series (outside of ZoE2 I can't stand cell shaded graphics and that's my major issue with the games, that art direction infuriates me) but I'm pretty sure Gearbox will deliver since it's the only title they seem to be able to release without issues and at a higher quality then most of their other games (Duke Nukem Forever and the aforementioned Colonial Marines). Anthem was doomed from the beginning and there were signs of that everywhere. BioWare is not the same company that brought us gems like KoToR 1, Neverwinter Nights (by far one of my all time favorite PC games and RPGs), ME 1-3, The Old Republic (say what you will, it's a solid game even if it's really no longer an MMO (from a gameplay stance)) and a myriad of other games from our childhood. They've been gutted of their actual talent and turned into yet another lackluster EA studio (which is sad since they brought me so many of my favorite games.
  11. People are just being overly whiny and bitchy about this (plus that's their starting outfit, not armor. Players will switch that out shortly after rolling said race (if they don't race switch an existing charcter like I'm doing with mine)). Yoshi-P has already stated why they went this route in an interview after the reveal and it's for relatively good reasons and had they brought out Female Hrothgar and Male Viera Shadowbringers would of probably been delayed by another 3-6 months. All I've been reading and hearing about since Friday night is bitching about this and the fact that Dancer is a dps not a healer. Fucking people are never happy with what they're given (they should just be happy we got two new races instead of one since they said they probably wouldn't put a new race in after Au Ra were introduced in Heavensward). Though, as is usual, Square-Enix will capitulate and release female Hrothgar and male Viera later down the road (probably not this expansion but the next one) so whiners can have their slightly more feline girls and bunny boys. God forbid we let the small percentage of players feeling left out feeling left out. Sigh, I'm still looking forward to this expansion but shit like this just kills the community.
  12. Seems like they got more right then I gave them credit for (then again apparently Cameron is a fan of the manga which lead to him getting the live-action rights) but that is what I get for being a major fan of the franchise. They could go on with the motorball events but those take place after Hugo dies in the manga, it's her way of dealing with her grief from loosing him (and her fallout with Ido). Again Alita's past doesn't come up until pretty much the end half of the manga so they already skipped ahead quite a bit (and most of that was rewritten with Last Order and Mars Chronicle, god damn authors changing shit). I have a feeling if they make a sequel they'll go with her time as a Tuned agent for Tiphares (the city in the sky, I will not speak the name the movie gave it) if they decide to leave the motorball stuff. It's probably the second best arc in the entirety of the original manga. Then again they could just skip way ahead and go into the events of Last Order (the Zenith of All Things tournament would be fucking amazing to see adapted in either an anime or a live-action if done right but that is the last half of the Last Order run so chances are high they wouldn't go that far ahead). As I said I'll wait until it hits home release or at least until PSN puts it up for digital rental as I have no intention of seeing this in the theater. Even though it's getting good reviews from movie goers I still hold reservations that they fucked something up that will piss me off (then again I did enjoy the GitS movie for what it was even if I hate what it'd did to Motoko as a character). XD, a live-action Shining Finger might literally make me vomit blood.
  13. Motorball takes place in the entirety of volume 3 of the manga (the old release, new release is 5 volumes so I'm not sure which volume its in) and her Berserker body (I don't know if they call it that in the movie, not even close to the power of her current body) is in the manga as well (first volume). From what I've heard it's a pretty accurate adaptation of the OVA which was a haphazard adaptation of the first volume of the manga (still good, I enjoyed it for what it was) with elements of the manga thrown in (badly by what I hear, sounds like the skip all of the motorball stuff after the tryouts which is a bummer since that's by far one of the high points of the manga for me). Not entirely sure what they said her age was (221 in the manga currently) or what her background is as it's never really covered until toward the end of the manga and the Last Order continuation (to sum it up a Martian terrorist and Panzer Kunst specialist (cyborg martial arts) who was stranded on Earth during the Terraforming Wars on a botched up mission) but I'll have to wait and see as I won't see it in theaters (I'll wait until it hits home video). As much love as I hear for this adaptation I'm skeptical it's any good (I'm a purist who loves this manga and we all remember how much I tore down the GitS movie) but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sigh, they just want to adapt everything now don't they. Didn't they learn their mistake with G-Saviour. Gundam isn't meant to be adapted into live-action >.<
  14. I never had any trouble running TERA on my laptop back when I played it. In fact it was probably one of the best running F2P MMO's I've ever played. Then again this was 4-5 years ago so things may have changed for the worst since then. Honestly when I played BDO I never paid attention to that shit. The grind does kinda suck once you get higher in level but the cash shop never once bothered me. In fact I should log in again and play it because the combat system is probably one of the best out there outside of TERA's. I actually miss CoH/CoV. It was one of the first MMO's to drag me away from WoW for an extended period of time. True it wasn't one of the best MMO's out there but it was fun while it lasted (I still have my physical copy of CoV somewhere in my closet). I'll agree though it's difficult to find anything worth while in the MMO genre (especially since everything is pretty much a copy of the successful MMO's). Everything plays the same, nothing is really changed outside of a few mechanics, etc. As much as I love FFXIV I am burned out and only log in for weekly housekeeping duties atm (currency grind and capping, gearing my Samurai, and a few other things) but I still love the game after 2800+ hours and can't imagine no playing it. Luckily we have a patch in about a month or so (after Tokyo fanfest) so I'll finally have things to keep me interested again.
  15. Eh, honestly it looks like every other Korean MMO out there and doesn't look all that fun. Then again I hate buy to play MMO's about as much as I hate free to play MMO's (there has only been two F2P MMO's that I like to this date and those are Star Trek Online (which I have a lifetime membership) and TERA (hell of a fun game but grew old really fast). Plus I do not consider TOR a free to play as, when I do play it, I pay for a subscription. I don't mind BDO but it suffers a lot from what I hate about the buy to play genre as a whole). Quite honestly I'll never migrate from pay to play models. Yea monthly fees can suck but I'd rather pay to play a polished game that gets frequent patches and content then buy a game/dl a game and hope that new content and patches come. I'm probably just spoiled by FFXIV's 3 month patch cycle (I get new main story content, side story content, raids, dungeons, etc. every three months. That's really hard to beat) and a 2 year expansion cycle (really for $15 a month that's a fucking steal). That and it's all I've ever known since I started playing MMO's.
  16. Totally hyped for the new expansion for FFXIV, Shadowbringers, after this mornings announcements at the Fan Fest in Paris. We're getting a 24-man raid devoted to Nier called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse and Yoko Taro is overseeing its creation, fucking sweet. It's supposed to further the Nier story as well (and if the concept art is to be believed it's sometime after the Automata storyline).

Say what you will about FFXIV but god damn do we get some awesome shit due to Square-Enix properties and their connections. I just fucking hope I can finally get my 2B glamour I've been wanting for my character. This just mean I need to quit being lazy and beat Automata before October (when this should probably launch since the expansion comes out in July).

Really I'm more underwhelmed by certain aspects of the game, mostly the gun play (it feels really slow and clunky with and emphasis on certain weapons. Don't get me wrong Destiny 2 has a lot of issues but the one thing I thought Bungie did right was the gun play (though their constant need for balance fucks that up more often then not)). Don't get me wrong I had fun when we tried to do the Stronghold and I certainly did enjoy certain aspects of what we were given I just feel the game still needs a lot of work. I get this is a 6 week old build but if that's the state the game was in 6-7 weeks ago I don't really have high hopes for the final build (yes lots of work can be done in that amount of time but still). Plus it's obvious EA/Bioware really needs to beef up their server structure because the amount of issues it had was not good. Honestly I don't feel I'd get my $60 worth if I bought it in it's current state. I'll wait for reviews and opinions from those I trust before I make the decision to buy it or not but with me dropping $200+ on Shadowbringers on Wed (when pre-order goes live, I must have the Collector's Edition (yea I'm obsessed with CE's)) I need to pick and choose what I spend my money wisely this year game wise (kinda the reason why I'm also not purchasing The Division 2 (well that and the fact that I have no faith in it being better than The Division)). And again I'm just having issues getting excited to play games on my PS4 (fuck I've barely played my Switch and I adore SSBU, I just haven't had the time).

I will beat Nier before October because I'd be doing myself a disservice of not doing so. I love the story so far, the combat has really grown on me (though I do find myself having some issues here and their), and I love the amount of exploring and random shit I can do. As I said time constraints and being lazy has pushed it to the side (and I was doing so good to, I was trying to get in 1-3 hours on Sundays but then I started getting sidetracked by shit on Netflix and Youtube) and FFXIV hasn't helped any with that as well (which is odd since I'm in the middle of major patch content without much to do, I find myself doing minor shit that's not important to what I'm currently trying to do).

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

The gunplay is underwhelming. It took me a while to realize why I was having such ammo trouble until I realized the game is more about L1 and R1 spam while using the guns to fill the gap. Which already presents a problem since the max damage comes from primers and igniters. Yet they've bothered to put in some skills that aren't either. People are already expressing concern over build limitations and stale metas. We'll see how it plays out.

The Division 2 mechanically will most likely be the same. I'm fine with that. The TTK is better, and the engine has been upgraded to handle aspects of the game better like the armor revamp that will do away with those one shot shotgun rushers that plagued the first game for the sake of "difficulty". But you're right, it will most likely follow a similar formula in a new setting. It works for me. I dunno what it is about it, but the game has always had a gritty old school charm to it. With all the expansions being free for year one, I just have to dive in.

Speaking of SSBU, I reallllly want 2B with A2 as her echo fighter. I'm kinda jealous Soul Caliber got her.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

My only worry is the story. I get it not everyone played The Division for the story but I actually enjoyed it and they never continued the main story from vanilla The Division which always rubbed me the wrong way (yea I know there's audio files and what not down in the Underground that kinda give you some semblance of where Keener went but the 3 dlc's never continued that story). I was kinda hoping they'd continue that story with the 2nd game (back before we knew we were getting one) and it looks like it won't due to the setting and what little we can glean from the trailers. I actually really liked the gameplay for the original, it's probably one of the better looter shooters our there even if the drop RNG sucked balls originally (I really like what they did with the game by adding it loot caches for leveling up and adding that new pier area, it really added more to do). My only real problem is the fact that while you can, technically, play the game solo it's obvious the game is structured to be played with friends and The Division 2 even more so (while that's not difficult for most people to accomplish it's hard for me when I have no other friends buying it besides you, all my other friends hated the original and have no interest in this one) and that really sucked the fun out of it for me which is why I quit playing The Division. I honestly hope its a good game but I won't be buying it unless it gets stellar reviews (much like my thoughts on Anthem).

Heh, 2B would break SSBU like she did Soul Caliber so maybe it's a good thing she's not in it (though I would not be against it and it's not like there aren't plenty of other characters that break the game).

  17. Meh, while I enjoyed the beta I don't really see myself playing it (I'll pick it up though). My co-worker says the game is pretty dead atm since not a lot of people bought it and Ubi did a shit job of trying to incentivize those that did to keep playing. Maybe this will give the game the kick in the ass it needs to get popular again.
  18. So I just decided to go ahead and beat it tonight since it would free up some time for me to get other shit done tomorrow and allow me to start my easy play through to round out the points needed for the X-02S (and to start the path toward a few trophies) and maybe start playing through 5 again. Overall I love this game and its nice that Bandai Namco finally decided to give Ace fans what they wanted after all these years. The story is very well written and as noted earlier in the topic takes place roughly 10 years after the events of 5 and it was nice to see all the little references and major plot points that linked back to the previous story (though I'm still pissed there was no reference to Wardog/Razgriz squadron nor do you even get to fly with/meet them in combat (though the ending redeemed that a little bit in my eyes with that transmission from Kei)). Boy did they pack in the references to the previous games, I was seriously loosing it when we fought at Stonehenge (a place I remember taking out in 4, yea all that damage you see there is caused by you in 4) and the briefing map having Megalith listed was awesome. Was nice seeing some of the squadrons I wiped off the map in 0 come back (Mage I'm looking at you) and one of those prisoners is from 0 as well. I really thought those were nice touches and really tied the story of all the games together (though I still haven't really seen a reference to 6 whose events took place only 4 years prior to this). Overall I thought the story was extremely well done though there were places I feel the writing could of used some work (like the whole throwing us in prison over something we didn't do). The mission variety was nice but I do agree with DX on the timed missions, they are aggravating as hell when you're given only 30 seconds to destroy 7 targets before the mission fails (I'm looking at you end part of Mission 20). I also had a problem with the "score so many points to either end or progress the mission" missions. It's aggravating as hell when most of your targets are worth little to no points but you still need to score 15,000 points before you can move on (oh and waste your ammo causing you to resupply if the mission even has a resupply line). Overall though there was a nice mix of aerial combat and ground combat mixed in (though that flying through the canyon mission still pisses me off, god damn those fucking spotlights). Combat was fun though I still feel there is some room for improvement. While a lot the aerial fights are fun I still feel 6 has far superior engagements to 7 (the Pasternak fight will always remain one of my all time favorite engagements in any Ace game). Drones were, while easy, an annoying part of a lot of missions and I can't stress enough how much that missile lock on alarm annoys the hell out of me because of these damn things. The crowning jewel of the combat comes with your engagements with Mister X. While not as fluid as the Pasternak fight they are extreme adrenaline rushes as he's one mean son of a bitch and those damn moves he can pull off are spectacular. I honestly wish he was the final fight in the game instead of those knock-off drones. I will admit though I had problems with the cloud systems they put in place as it really through me off my grove when fighting in or around them, while they're a nice touch I really would of preferred they not be there (and don't get me started on being struck by lightning, so fucking annoying). As usual the soundtrack was stellar (though I still prefer 5 and 0's soundtracks to this) and the voice acting some of the best in the series (will have to do a play through in Japanese to see if that's just as good). It goes without saying the graphics are amazing even on the old school PS4 and is probably one of the best looking games I've played in awhile (Detroit is still much better looking but damn does it come close). My only real gripe is the Aircraft tree system as I prefer the old method of acquiring planes through beating missions. It was extremely annoying knowing that I had to spend over a million points just to get the chance to unlock the F-22 and then another 920,000 just to get it and 220,000 to unlock all sp. weapons (which took, as I mentioned before, until mission 17 to acquire said points). I do, however, like the whole parts system they put in place as it allows you to customize you're plane to your liking (because you know making you're F-22 go faster is always a good thing). Honestly this game was a blast to play through and ranks up there as one of my favorite Ace titles taking second only to 5 (which isn't surprising as it's the parent story to what's going on specifically in this one). I write this all, however, having not played the multiplayer aspect because I honestly have no interest in playing it (I might give it a shot like I did 6's but quite frankly I never though multiplayer had a place in the Ace series outside of co-op missions (which I notice there is an extreme lack of those)). I also, obviously, don't have the ability to play the VR missions but I do here they are quite fun (I wish I could play them but I'm not dropping that much money to be able to play and handful of missions). Overall a solid entry in the franchise and I hope going forward that Bandai Namco sticks to the the Strangereal universe and doesn't give us anymore duds like Assault Horizon.
  19. Nah, I ran out of time to get it beaten over the weekend due to FFXIV and anime watching (I was close to beating it since I stopped after 18 but I just ran out of time on Sunday) and I don't really have the time during the week to devout to the game. I'll beat it tomorrow (I'd do it today but I called out sick from work (no that its a big deal, it's only overtime doing shit I've never done before but meh) and I have a thing about playing games when I'm out sick, don't feel it's right to be playing games when I'm home sick from work (though I may say fuck it and beat it anyway)). Yea, it auto-corrects you constantly when you try flying upside down like when you're in a dogfight. It pisses me off and has been in the game since 6 (though 6 was nowhere near annoying). It also does it when you're pulling high g's as well. None of the games prior to 6 had it and you could fly the whole mission upside down if you had the skills, makes dogfighting a lot harder (especially in the Mister X fights, I died multiple times due to the stupid auto-correct) and dodging missiles and bombing runs suicidal. I need to go through the options and see if there's a way to shut it off because when I do my hard play through I can't have this shit happening.
  20. Heh, that mission sucked balls. Can't remember what I flew it in though, it was either the Strike Eagle or Tomcat (all I know is even with a multi-role plane it was a bitch due to the game's constant need to auto-correct you every time you pull moves it doesn't like (it took me 5 tries to finally beat it due to that)). See I've never liked the F-35 (both in game and in real life), such a waste of the F-22's tech but since I do plan on unlocking all planes (yea I'll probably play this like 10-15 times completely through) I'll give it a shot since it's also got some of the better equipment unlocks down that tree. Sadly though that will have to wait since I just found out the X-02S unlocks after you beat the game and since it's 2 million points I'll have a lot of grinding ahead of me (the X-02 is my favorite plane in the Ace series, such a beast of a plane). I have a thing for the F-15 so that's why I went that tree (and the upgrades weren't all to bad, especially the Vulcan upgrades (that tracking assist is so nice when you have lock-on)). Kinda sucks to hear that mission 20 is lackluster, was hoping for one hell of a finale (like AC4, 5 and 0).
  21. Oh man you won't get the F-22 until after mission 17 when you'll finally have enough points to buy it (depending on if you went the F-15 or F-35 route to unlock it, I went the F-15 route (as well as difficulty and what rank you pull on a mission, I'm going through normal with mostly A and B rankings with a few C's added in there). It's worth the wait but I honestly hate how far down the tree it's locked (which is something I'll get into once I actually beat the game, I still have to beat missions 19 and 20). Honestly though this game has been a blast and I'm so freaking happy to have old school Ace Combat back, I've missed this so much it's not even funny. As I said above I'll give my full thoughts on it once I finally beat it this weekend because I don't want to give this anything less then my full opinion but I will say it ranks up there as one of my favorite Ace Combat titles to date but I do have my issues with it. I just can't wait to play through Ace Combat 5 again (I bought the Deluxe edition so I could get it).
  22. I highly doubt Microsoft would buy them after their split (MS got everything they wanted out of the split with the Halo franchise (the only good thing Bungie did) and the half of the team that made Halo (which is now 343)) as it wasn't exactly amicable by what I've read. Honestly Bungie doesn't stand a chance on its own unless it can prove itself with the inevitable release of Destiny 3 and if the game they're developing is good enough. Bungie burned a lot of bridges when they left MS and now with them leaving Activision they burned even more (though lets face it, burning a bridge with Activision isn't exactly that bad). I forsee them either being bought out by Sony or Ubisoft (I wouldn't be surprised if EA started sniffing up that tree even if they have their own "Destiny" coming out next month) or completely collapsing in on themselves. They shot themselves in the foot when they left MS imo and dug their own grave with Destiny, it'll take a miracle for them to come out ahead after this. Blizzard can't afford to leave especially now that Activision has all but taken control of the company (most of the OG Blizzard staff have pretty much quit or been let go) and lets face it they're a sinking ship due to Activision's involvement as of late (and with the multiple Acti transplants taking key positions even more so). Plus, if I remember correctly, Activision owns the majority share in Blizzard when they merged meaning the name stays with Activision (as do the properties they've created). Bungie only had a partnership so it's not surprising they were able to keep the Destiny IP.
  23. So after counting the cash and gift cards I got for my birthday in Oct and for Christmas I finally just broke down and ordered a Switch today all because I want the new Smash Brothers (damn you Nintendo, why do you do this to me. You know I have an obsession with SSB).

So yeah, I now get to start the journey of being a Switch owner (I just wish it didn't cost so much freaking money x.x).

Smash is amazing. I beat World of Light two days ago. It took me around 34 hours. Quite impressive for a "campaign". It wasn't perfect, and there were a lot of things they could have improved on it to make it truly in depth and interesting. But for what it is, it's a blast for sure. If Kirby, Mario, Marth or Shiek isn't one of your best, you might be waiting a long time to unlock someone you love though. There is a cheese method, but I went with the legit route. At least the larger, heavier characters are worth plaything. They're quite nimble while keeping their power. Bowser was super clutch for me at times when I needed more damage per hit, and I've never liked playing as him. By the end of it I was flipping between my main Ness, Lucina, and Fox, with a sprinkle of Captain Falcon, Belmont, and Bowser.

Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild are fantastic games as well. I have a lot of smaller games like Mega Man 11 and the Blaster Master remastered. I typically save those for when I'm sitting at the repair shop waiting on maintenance. It may not be my most played console, but its def the most clutch console for boring situations.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Good thing I was good with Marth in the Gamecube version (though that was years ago) though I was even better with Roy or Link (and I'm not to shabby with Kirby or Pikachu). I've seen quite a bit of the game through watching streamers and that's what made me want it (well that and my co-worker gushing about it). Can't wait until it gets here next week because this should provide me with plenty of shit to keep me busy until Ace Combat comes out (well Nier as well, I'm still nowhere near beating it yet).

I'm thinking once I get the money I'll be picking up Octopath Traveler (I'm a sucker for old school JRPG's) and I might pick up BotW (I'm not overly that interested in it since I've never been the biggest Zelda fan (the only Zelda game I've ever enjoyed was A Link to the the Past) but the open world aspect had me intrigued (and from what I've seen of it the story is phenomenal)). I'm pretty much getting it for those reasons as well, will be nice to have for road trips and the occasional visit to the mechanic instead of staying glued to my phone like I usually do.

If you like Marth, Lucina is freaking amazing. I instantly fell in love with her when I tried her out after unlocking her. She has the same move set, but her sword does damage equally across the whole blade rather than the tip having the most power like Marth. To me it just feels better all around. The last one I played was Brawl, but not very much of it as I didn't really care for Wii and I never got a Wii U. That being said, a lot of the characters are brand new to me since I missed a lot of time. I logged endless hours on Melee, I'm sure you'll get your bearings quick once you jump in like I did. For the most part, all the classic characters feel exactly the same, except Gannondorf, they changed some of his moves slightly, I guess to make him less of a Captain Falcon heavy. They also got rid of a lot of cheese. Its much harder to back carry someone off the side and toss them with DK, or ledge drop and spit with Kirby.

I'm not an old school JRPG fan, but I almost did get Octopath, and then Ys: VIII caught my eye and I never looked back. The great thing about Octopath is it will be one of those games that lasts  the full 6 hours off battery.

  24. I'm so freaking hyped and I'm so happy that the next season starts where it starts, god it's going to be epic based on everything I've read about it (plus yay, Eri finally animated). Can it be October already?
  25. Yea, I've been seeing that it's highly underselling compared to BF1 when it launched (even if it is getting pretty stellar reviews). I got your text this morning about it but I think I'll wait a bit before I pick it up (kinda spent a little to much money on anime for Black Friday and I kind of called out of work today due to the freezing rain we got last night so I lost 10 hours today (even if I do have vacation it still sucks to use it for this)) even though it is kind of hard to pass up that price. Let me know how it is and if they made any real significant changes or not since the beta (I was not impressed with the beta so I pretty much planned on not buying it).
