Red Mage and now Samurai are confirmed as the two jobs for the upcoming FFXIV expansion Stormblood. I am completely hyped about this now and Samurai is going to be a DPS this time around (Sam was a tank in FFXI), god I can't wait. Finally a job I've been wanting since the game released (besides Ninja which I already play as). The only bad thing is I'm torn about which one I want to level first.
-
So now you have to work on a whole new set of fancy weapons?
-
Only if I hate myself and wish for no free time what so ever (I mean if I really wanted to I could work on the Anima weapons for my Scholar, Summoner, Dragoon (which I might, I mean I have a little over 4 months before Stormblood releases and that lance is sexy as hell), Monk, Bard, Machinist, and White Mage but I don't feel like selling the rest of my soul to FFXIV atm (and sadly that's not all the jobs in game atm those are just the ones I have at 60 (I'm missing Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, and Astrologian)).
Chances are pretty high I'll end up continuing to main Ninja so I'll only have to worry about one weapon but with the changes they're making to the relic system in Stormblood I might not even attempt to get one (they're linking it with an new optional area called Eureka The Forbidden Land (FFV anyone?) and if it's like they're talking I'll probably skip the relic this time around, I'm not hip on their exploratory areas and it sounds like they're going to make this one even more difficult to get). However if Samurai is everything I want it to be I might switch mains over and get myself a super sexy Katana relic or if it's not and Red Mage is better then I guess I'll be getting a sexy as hell Rapier. God I hate it when I get two things I really want and don't know which one to choose first x.x I almost wish they'd of released a job I have no interest in so I could focus on the other one. Damn you SE *shakes fist*

Cyan was probably my favorite samurai in any final fantasy game.

So after playing TOR since it's release I've finally finished all the class stories this morning earning my Legendary Player status. I have to say TOR is an exceptional game with some of the best storytelling I've seen in an MMO to date (FFXIV takes second sadly, while the story is amazing it's just not personal enough like the TOR class stories are).
Have to say my favorite Class Stories were Sith Inquisitor (even if it was a little predictable at times), Imperial Agent (I haven't played the Light Side version but the Dark Side one was pretty damn fun), and surprisingly Jedi Consular (which I beat this morning. While a little boring the twists and turns the story takes after Chapter 1 were fun). The other stories were just a little to bland for my tastes (Sith Warrior was okay but revenge stories just aren't all that great any more. Jedi Knight wasn't all that amazing but the final story mission was pretty cool. The rest I really don't have much to say about (though Smuggler was good for a few laughs)).
Gotta say for their first time doing an MMO Bioware did a great job, even if the game has gone through more rocky points then most MMO's. The Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne expansions were amazing, well done, and outside of the class stories had some of the best story writing I've seen in awhile (this goes for single player games as well). Can't wait to see what Bioware has in store for TOR in the future but I'm happy to say I can finally put this game on the back burner until it happens.

I would lose Jaesa?! *Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..*
-
Yea and as far as I know there's no plan on bringing her back in as of right now (which sucks, she's one of my favorite companions (especially after you turn her)).
-
I know! She was so vicious and dark. The whole turning her sequence was amazing. The whole quest behind it capturing her master and what not was satisfying to see play out.

Looks like I get to play the For Honor beta this weekend, just got my code today. Can't wait, if only I didn't have to work Friday (this overtime shit is getting old).
-
I'm glad there is AI fighting in this or I probably wouldn't be interested. I'll watch some videos later tomorrow. Sounds very enjoyable.
-
Meh, I didn't really get another chance to put much time into the beta again after my initial time (I did play a few rounds of Dominion again but it was Player vs. A.I. so not much to add). I did unlock Orochi and try her out, she's not bad but definitely not my play style. She's too squishy and I just don't like her play style. Not to mention she's so much weaker then the Warden it's not funny (her attacks don't do as much damage but she makes up for it in other ways). I will say I mastered the play style of the Warden though and am a force to be reckoned with when I play her (at least for the A.I., never did get a chance to play against other players), went on a 10 player kill streak in the last match I played (again A.I. players).
Overall with the little time I put into it I'm certainly intrigued by it. I might drop the money on it when it releases on the 14th as it's enjoyable enough but with Horizon coming out next month as well I'll have to see how funds are doing (all this overtime is helping but I'm, once again, trying to save up for a new computer). If you get a chance once it releases I'd say give it a shot if you got the chance, see if you like it (I don't mean go out and buy it of course but if a friend gets it try it out). As I said the combat isn't exactly easy to master but once you start to get the hang of it it's extremely enjoyable. All in all if I'd say this is a solid 7/10 just based on the beta alone.

With the way alot of recent games have dropped in price within the first 2-3 weeks of release I recommend holding off initially. I'll watch some streams of it when it comes out, or at least a couple youtube videos of the campaign to see if its got a decent plot to go with the great combat mechanics. So many games seem to have great promise over the last couple years but then fall flat with plot or progression.

Two years after I bought it I finally started watching Tekkaman Blade. 16 episodes in and by god am I loving every minute of it (even if it is a bit campy). Great soundtrack, ok characters (hey not all anime has great characters), and a plot that's actually pretty good (if not recycled from other similar shows from the time).
Also makes me miss the old days when anime was hand animated and we didn't have all this CG shit mixed in. Sure the art wasn't always great but damn the shows were still good. Also makes me miss when anime actually had good plot and stories, not this same recycled bullshit we get every year.
-
It wasn't always great, but when it was, it was amazing. If something is CG'ish I can bear with it sometimes... what I hate is the hybrid animation/CG. Its very off putting. I've seen a few mecha series where only the mechas were CG and everything else was animated. It just doesn't fit.
-
Yea, for some reason it just never seems to work out in mech anime (which seems to use it more than any other genre now-a-days). The mechs either look extremely fake or complete crap (which sucks because a lot of mechs look great in CG). Sadly there has been such a huge push toward hybrid CG/Traditional animation lately that it's been ruining most of the new shows coming out now (hell this has been the first year where I'm not actively watching anything currently airing in Japan since I was first introduced to fansubs (2004, so the first time in 13 years) because almost all the shows are either crappy rehashes of the same plots or hybrid shows with shitty CG).
This is one reason I'm happy companies like Right Stuf (through their Nozomi Entertainment branch) and Discotek have been acquiring the rights to and releasing old school anime over here. So many good shows get overlooked by the bigger companies like Funi that it's sad (mostly due to dated animation and fear of not having a market over here (something Right Stuf has proven to be wrong in the last few years with releases like Dirty Pair and finally bringing all of Gundam over in it's entirety)). Now if only we could get a company to bring over the whole Macross catalog, I'd be one happy anime fan if that happened (ADV and Manga Ent. started to but never got past the original Macross, Macross Plus, and Macross II (which has absolutely nothing to do with the main Macross story). Getting a stateside release of Macross 7 would be amazing).
-
Just finished Tekkaman Blade, gotta say this ranks up there as one of my all time favorites now. While quite a few portions of the show could of been cut (a lot of filler in this show that could of been recapped in like 4 episodes and they could of ditched the 2 recap eps) the last few episodes were epic. Definitely glad I bought this two years ago on a whim (I've seen Tekkaman Blade II (which, while entertaining, ruins so much of what the first series did and accomplished it's sad) which piqued my interest in seeing the original) when it was on sale at RightStuf. I definitely recommend seeing it if you get a chance to.

Fuck you 2016, just fuck you. You just had to take another one with you and it had to be Princess Leia. RIP Carrie, you will be sorely missed.

Now Alf died.
