Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Strider Hiryu replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
I'm hoping they really open up a lot more for us to do in the beta because the alpha, as fun as it was, was really constrained. Redoing all the same crap over and over got a little repetitive and dull (I had fun but those missions just get boring to continually grind). I'm not asking for a lot but I'd really like to see more story based missions and at least another Strike for us to take on (though I really want another shot at The Devil's Lair, as much grief as it gave us to get through I really enjoyed doing it. Want to try it on Legendary difficulty next). -
Yea I thought it was weird they split the pack into 2 separate downloads like that. Makes you think you're getting 2 missions instead of one. I never noticed the other pre-order stuff being up last week for download and I'm a season pass holder. Would of probably been more into playing last week had I actually known (currently taking a break since family is up visiting and I'll keep them up all night if I play while they're sleeping). I think the T-Bone DLC will be accessible to everyone, I just think season pass holders will get a hold of it earlier then the rest of those who decided not to shell the money out for it. Plus I think the season pass was just a way of making people pay up front for the pre-order bonuses to get them earlier and at a discounted price over everyone else ($20 for all pre-order bonuses (which will most likely retail for $5 a pop) plus a single-player DLC that will probably cost up to $10 and you're looking at close to $30 or more just to pay for everything separately).

If he wants to tackle that beast let him, he won't hurting my feelings. Plus Eva is from my early anime years so it's not like that will ruin my childhood (nor is Eva a favorite of mine, was a good show but was way over-hyped for what it was).

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!

Hmmmm, go figure theres a trophy linked to the number 7. Bungie at it's love for the number 7. Don't think it'd be entirely hard to get that trophy while doing them normally. Had we actually took our time on The Devil's Lair I'm pretty sure we wouldn't of died as much as we did (I mean some of our deaths were kind of our fault). Then again you'd also have to do it with people you know and trust because doing it with a match made group would be rather difficult (especially if you get stuck with 3 hunters like we did). Hmmmm. so there are going to be guild like entities in this game. Was wondering since there was no mention of it in the Alpha. Wonder if we'll be able to play around with it in Beta? -
Bought Valiant Hearts yesterday and all I have to say is wow. This game is amazing, Ubisoft really outdid themselves with this one.
-
It's more on the puzzle end, trying to figure out how to get from point A to point B without being seen by enemies or getting hit by enemy fire or obstacles (some pretty fun driving sections). No real action as if you're seen by an enemy they instantly kill you (not to say there is none, end of chapter one has a rather interesting fight to take out a zeppelin). This game is more driven by the story it's telling which completely has me invested, though they don't talk much I lo...

And now Strider has to go clean his pants because that's the best news ever. Strider is definitely worth the $15 but free is even better. I know I'll be downloading it again.

Everything You Need to Know about the Destiny BETA!
Strider Hiryu replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
I'm assuming level cap for Beta will be 20 as all the Legendary gear in Alpha was level 20. Just an assumption and I'm assuming it'll be between 20 - 50 for retail (as most MMO's usually cap at 50 (some rare ones don't)). Character slot wise I'm going to guess 3 slots, one for each character class as you really can't specialize your characters to do one thing in this game like you can in most MMO's (I mean you can swap abilities in the tree at will). Plus honestly there really is no reason to go beyond 3 slots, anymore and thats just ridiculous (who needs more then one Titan, Hunter, or Warlock at any given time). I'm going out on a limb here by saying I doubt there will be no more new classes until the 3rd or 4th DLC. I'm assuming the first two will add more Strikes and probably more planets as it seems like only the Moon and Mars will be in retail besides Earth (this is just speculation, I'd honestly be really surprised if Venus and Mercury were added into retail). Most likely they'll also contain new multiplayer maps/modes and probably new armor sets and weapons. Who knows what Bungie and Activision have planned for this game, I mean this is the only game Bungie is developing for them atm and they plan on keeping it going for a long while by the sounds of it. Interesting app, I'll have to check it out when it's released. -

Heh, after watching that vid it cemented my love for the Hunter even more. As I said before I'll be rolling a Titan out for Beta just to see how they play (who knows, might like it even more then the Hunter). I have the entire last week of July off (vacation, yay!) so I'll be fiddling with all three classes extensively during the beta and making my final decision for what I'll play on release. I would take release week off but due to inventory for the store being during that time I can't (plus I'm already taking two days off over the 18th and 19th of September to go the FFDP concert in Bismarck). Hopefully I'll have a new job by release anyways so I can have a more flexible schedule to play this with you guys (and hopefully get my ass off these night shifts, they're slowly killing me). -

Heh, I remember that mission in you second vid (destiny 3) and I never did pick up that one in your first (destiny 2). Kinda glad I didn't pick up the first one, that tunnel leads to all sorts of nasty things (ask Sledge). I'm honestly really impressed with what they showed us in this Alpha and am hoping for a lot more of the same come Beta. I really enjoyed the way the game played out and multiplayer was quite surprising (wish Sledge could of got some video of the two of us playing it) and if all the strikes are as fun as The Devil's Lair I'm really looking forward to all the co-op stuff in this game. I tried out a Warlock before the Alpha closed and don't think I'll be playing one anytime soon. Not my type of play style (plus I kept getting my ass handed to me, so used to the Hunter's abilities). I'll most likely stick to playing Hunter come Beta and might try out a Titan. I just love the feel of the Hunter and it's abilities (throwing knives around is freaking fun). Did you guys happen to catch the article VG24/7 put up about the exclusive content for us PS users. http://www.vg247.com/2014/06/16/heres-what-youll-get-if-you-buy-destiny-on-playstation-platforms/, there's the link. Nothing spectacular but I do like the fact that we're getting an exclusive strike (on Mars), an exclusive mp map, and those armors and ships are rather snazzy looking if I might add (really digging the Hunter's, thought that yellow needs to go). Not to hip on the weapons as I prefer to stick to Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles. -

Heh, I got both a rocket launcher and a machine gun out of two of those engrams I picked up yesterday. Also got a new helm, a new primary (a pistol), and new foot armor. Can't use any of the armor or pistol till level 8 (almost there, I fooled around a bit here a few minutes ago to pad my level. Also picked up an engram for a sweet rifle and a hunter's cloak (that I can't wear till 10)). Devil's Lair is a level 6 strike and supports up to 3 people so if we can all get on at the same time we can do it (otherwise it'll match us up with other players). I should be on around the same time as last night (around 4:30 pm my time so 6:30 yours, would be awesome to get together and own some shit). Heh, I love my rifle. Now if only I could get a green version of it so it's even better. -

Yea it seems everyone has double jump. The one for Sledge and I is just a rocket boosted jump (which apparently neither of us is very good at using ). Sledge and I were tearing shit up tonight, running around doing missions and getting our asses handed to us in 2 events where we were the only two around to do anything. BTW that tank event is a bitch, Sledge and I spent most of our time dead or finding a hole to hide in. Was extremely fun but I don't think anymore story is in the game or that I could see besides the starting mission. There was a bunch of side quests to do but over all I didn't see any story quests (unless you pick them up at the Tower at a higher level, just hit 7 playing with Sledge and I haven't gone back to the Tower yet). Loving the new Sniper Rifle I picked up tonight too, damn thing is like a freaking cannon. We should really try to put together a fire team of six tomorrow Sledge and go try The Devil's Lair. I'm really interested to see how that plays out and what kind of loot we'll get from it. -

For an Alpha I was really impressed with the way this looked myself. I was telling my friend at work last night that this looked more like a beta then an alpha. I honestly had no trouble with the Hive fight. Wizard was a bitch to kill but I just found cover when I was low on health and unloaded my entire shotgun and most of my rifle ammo into his ass. Killed him with 99 shots left, was freaking intense. I never got the event out in the world, hell I only met two people down there before I entered the story area. Thought it was kinda dead for the amount of people I figured would be playing. Of course that changed as soon as I set foot in the Tower. I rolled a Hunter for this first time out. Like the feel of it and I picked the semi-auto rifle they had to choose since it'll fit more with the sniping aspect of the class. The knife melee for hunters in one shot kill as well (and pretty damn cool when you stick it into the head of an enemy). The sparrow is freaking awesome, that thing can get some good speed on a straight-away. It's nice to know we'll have them that early in the game because running everywhere would suck if you didn't. -
Rumor had it that is was supposed to be this month but I haven't heard anything concrete. I'm hoping it'll be soon because once the beta for Destiny starts that's all I'll be playing. Plus both Dragon's Teeth and Final Stand are supposed to be out during the summer so you'd think DT would be soon if they want to get FS out before September. Who know, this is DICE we're talking about.

As I'm sure you noticed I was on for a bit. Damn work taking me away from it (have a few hours before I go but got crap to do). What little I played was fun but don't go wandering off to much, I ran into an area with ?? mobs. Ran as fast as I could away I'll be on this tomorrow and all weekend before work for a few hours, we should try to get a Fireteam going and go own some shit. Would really like to see what this has to offer before it goes down. -
Nah, I haven't done free roam yet. Been to busy getting side tracked with side missions, private intrusions, and what have you. I just recently started doing the campaign push so I can get this beaten as fast as possible since the Destiny Beta comes out on July 17 and I have been feeling the need to play some BF4 lately (just got the itch again, plus Dragon's Teeth should be right around the corner).

Way to kill the civilian Grats on the trophy, got mine doing a campaign mission last night (it's in act 2, you'll understand what one when you do it if you haven't already).

I might be there with you if I get into the Alpha. Screw work, Strider needs to play himself some Destiny.

Honestly, I think the game I'm most hyped about from E3 atm is Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. Call it the Strategy player in me but that game looks amazing
-
Beyond earth!? Is it a civilization game that's focused on scifi? I'll have to check the trailer after work.
-
Yea, it's Civilization in space. I never played it but the guy from Firaxis that GameSpot interviewed said its a lot like Sid Meier's Alpha Centari. Basically we get sent into space to colonize an alien planet. Plays a lot like Civ 5 from what I've seen but you get to fight Alien creatures and other human colonists (apparently there's 8 factions you get to choose from and you get to set up how your colony is seeded (what tech you bring, what people, etc.).

Well I did get into the beta and played a few games earlier. Honestly this is a much faster paced game then BF4, with Heist matches lasting generally 5-10 minutes a piece. I'll say this much the key to playing, imo, is teamwork which sadly no one I played with seemed to have as they were treating it like BF4 trying to get kills instead of getting the money to the escape points (for Robbers, Cops have to prevent this). Can definitely tell this is a beta as well considering the controls are kinda clunky and characters move a lot like they have something shoved up their ass (when you sprint it feels more like a fast walk). Going to try out Blood Money tonight when I get back on to see what it's like. Frankie posted a vid on it yesterday and it looks pretty fun and a lot faster paced then Heist.
-
In Vegas 2 Terrorist Hunts you had two respawns if I remember correctly (been 3 years since I last played it) and on Realistic difficulty where one shot normally killed you you went through them fast (lot of camping an area and spawning enemies). I know nothing of actual multiplayer from Rainbow 6 as when I bought Vegas 2 the game had already been out for 2 years and the multiplayer was basically non-existent.
-
My signup is in, hoping to get in so I can try this out. I was watching Frankie from youtube fame (FRANKIEonPCin1080p) stream it on his Twitch account last night before the Sony Press Conference. Looks freaking fun as hell and extremely fast paced. I like the fact that Robbers get baseball bats as they're melee weapons, freaking hilarious.
-
But I already own it and it looks amazing on old gen tech, I really don't want to buy it again. It was a fun game but it's not worth purchasing again on the PS4. Really don't know why Rockstar went through the trouble of bringing it over. Focus on the news GTA damnit.
-
Yea, wasn't entirely thrilled they scrapped Patriots for this. Still not to thrilled but I may give this a shot if the friends I played Rainbow Six Vegas 2 get it. Looks fun but I was really hoping for something different (plus I'm going to miss Terrorist hunts).
-
I wasn't originally too thrilled when I found out DICE was handed the keys to Battlefront but after that little piece I'm more then relieved it got into their hands. If the actual game looks anything like or better then what was shown there I'll be more then happy. I haven't played Battlefront since the first one released (I heard the second one wasn't all that great) so I have big hopes for this.

Strider Hiryu replied to DeathscytheX's topic in Video Games
Damn near wet myself when this started off the Sony Press Conference. God I really can't wait for September and I really can't wait for Beta to start up. I signed up for the Alpha but since I have to work I won't get much time on it if they select me.
