  1. *resurrects dead topic* So I bought and finally got to see Riddick last night and let me tell you it was a damn good movie. I honestly like it a lot more then Chronicles. It does bring back the whole Pitch Black feel but does so in a much different way (plus those freaking creatures were pretty cool). I will say this I had my doubts about how they would wrap up the Necromongers part from Chronicles but they did a very good job integrating why he was on that planet and what happened to get him there. All in all I'm satisfied with the movie plus they kind of leave it open for a fourth (whether or not he can ever get that funded if it interests him to do so though is another question). And yes Vin did put his house up to get this movie funded, they mention it in the special features when they talk about the movie.
  2. Well what do we have here. Whats up Akira, long time no speak. Old timers are all that's left around here and we're a dying breed as it is (all the new people run away shortly after joining if they're not bots, beginning to think we either smell or are scaring them away).
  3. That's the problem, they're running a Linux based OS which games are usually not developed for (for the most part, I know now-a-days it's becoming a little more popular but still). You're shooting for a niche market, I honestly don't know what they're thinking. At this rate they'll never make the money they want nor do I even think they'll make the money back in the long run (you know they're paying the people they're outsourcing this too a pretty penny). Don't honestly know where Valve is going with this.
  4. So ESO beta weekend coming up starting Friday and Strider got invited again. Time to see what it looks like with a working graphics card

I hear ya there, give me the old school RPG where my choices made an impact on the world and story. Sadly there really hasn't been a good MMO to come out in awhile. I love FFXIV: ARR but in all honesty it's just like all the others before it (but, like TOR, it has an actual story to follow which is quite interesting. Plus it's fun to play even if it gets extremely repetitive). Sadly though I haven't run into an actual good RPG in awhile (nothing along the lines of Star Ocean I...

...I, that game is still freaking amazing (still need to beat it though x.x)).

I'm thinking FF6 was the best rpg I ever played. Halfway through the game the world is thrown into war and chaos because our character's failed. That was a good RPG. :D

  5. That's a little to rich for my blood, $499 on the low end isn't worth it (especially considering they're running i5's and not i7's) and $6,000 is completely ridiculous. Wouldn't drop that kind of money on one of these since my laptop will run 95% of Steam's library and the 5% that's left I have no interest in playing. Would rather spend $399 on a PS4, it's be money well spent and it'll get more use then a Steam machine.
  6. I've seen the original Kite and Kite Liberator (new main character that takes place after first OVA). Honestly you're not really missing much by not seeing them. Kinda meh in my opinion. The version of the Kite OVA on Netflix is the completely edited version that cuts out all sex scenes and most of the extremely violent acts that take place in the show (there are three versions of the original OVA). The only real thing you miss, story wise, is her motivation for doing what she does at the end of the OVA which honestly really isn't much. Your choice if you want to actually watch it but I'd say don't waste your time. Outside of the curiosity thats being piqued by how true they'll stay to the source material I have no real need or want to watch the live-action adaptation when it comes out (plus it's an American adaptation, anything and everything that's deemed bad for American morals will be but out). Plus after watching the first two minutes of the trailer it looks rather horrible.
  7. Blasphemy! FFIX was a rare gem and I loved the story completely. Yes I'm a little blinded by the fact that it's what cemented my love for the FF series (and it was the first one I ever played), sue me. I do agree on 12 though. What little I played of it I wasn't overly impressed (and I mean little, I don't think I'm even 5 hours into it yet (and if I am then it was a real disappointment)). The battle system was quite lovely though, one of the few battle systems I've liked in recent years. Quite honestly I never could see why VII is lauded as the best FF game in the series. The story was meh and the characters were all pretty disappointing and bland (with the exception of Cid and Vincent, really liked those two). True I've never beaten it (on the final fight) but I just really can't see why it was so amazing. Will I be booed out for saying I've only played MGS2 (and boy what a disappointment it was after the first mission)? I played the demo of MGS and liked it but never did get around to actually buying it and playing it (though I've seen it completely through, one of my old roommates went through and MGS marathon and played 1, 2, and 3 all back to back). MGS4 never really interested me and I didn't have a PS3 so i could never play it. I must say though I'm thinking of buying MGS5 once it comes out and I get my PS4, looks freaking amazing. As much as I don't want FFXV to bomb I agree with DX, it just might be what Square needs to finally make them see they need to rethink the whole RPG thing. I'd also like to see COD bomb big time, they really need to rethink how they make those games. I've heard nothing but bad things about Ghosts and yet it's still being praised. Really starting to think the game industry has finally plateaued.
  8. Everyone wants a VII remake in HD which quite honestly I'd pass on, didn't really enjoy the game the first time around (let the flames of war begin now). I'm kinda mixed with Square-Enix right now. I like FFXIV: ARR but knowing the fucked the pooch so bad on it the first time around has me worrying quite a bit about FFXV. Not only was the game pushed back by 3 or so years they retooled it for next gen and it worries me that it just won't deliver. Not to mention the debacle with the XIII games. I have yet to play XIII (own it, just haven't gotten around to playing it) but what I saw of it while my roommate played it made me feel that they're really dumbing the series down (took no thought what-so-ever to actually play) but the story was quite awesome (imo, plus the soundtrack was pure bliss). I think Square-Enix just needs to take a break from RPGs for awhile, they're really starting to get bland. Hint guys: Blitzball (come on random Square-Enix lurkers, look at our site to get this idea). I swear you'll make billions just on it alone. Hell Sledge I'd probably lock myself in my room and play it for days straight if they made one I'd take an HD remake of COD4 with servers. God I miss that game so much, it was so much fun before the modders and hackers took it over. You have to give it to Kojima, he likes to think outside of the box and push the envelope as much as he can. One of the main reasons I've always thought he's one of the best game designers is the business right now (if not the best). Sadly I wish he'd give us a new Z.O.E. title, I so want another one. Damn you ZOE HD remake and not selling well, now Kojima won't give Strider another ZOE game
  9. Oh hell yeah! I can replay my childhood and they have old school Missile Command for the Atari 2600. I guess I can say goodbye to all my free time. *runs off to play Missile Command before getting ready for work*
  10. So they're wanting to take the same route with XIII if the demand is high enough? Why does Square-Enix insist on shooting themselves in the foot with sequels? Starting to really think they have no idea what to do anymore. Sad thing is though sequels are what is sustaining the game market at the moment since everyone is to afraid to start a completely new IP (the exception here being Bungie and a few other developers). Sadly I don't remember X-2 being any good (I know I didn't beat it but from what I remember it was a real let down, then again so was X after that one certain point in the story). Give the fans what they really want, a game completely devoted to Blitzball. I'd buy that game in a hurry if it was ever produced.
  11. Happy Belated Birthday Sledge! Man GG the cake pictures you post keep getting more and more disturbing.
  12. Merry Christmas! Just a few things I needed (my family is practical) and roughly $100 in cash.
  13. You know Right Stuf needs to quit having holiday sales, I always spend money I don't have on them. Just got done blowing $150 on anime, I think I have a problem

XD, I gave up resisting years ago. They put these sales up and my self-restraint goes right out the window. It's like they know

Steal prices were the full Berserk manga for 50% off. Reissued too, so all those expensive first press out of stock manga is back for half the original price.

  14. Looks relatively interesting and even if it does suck I'll get to stare at Mila Kunis so I really can't lose.
  15. I'm going to assume similar, there will always be differences but now that console hardware is starting to get closer and closer to high end computer specs it'll be hard to tell. I can't go into much due to the NDR from the closed beta but graphics wise the current version of the beta looks exactly like Skyrim from what I could tell with a 3 year old laptop and a non-functional graphics card (using my on-board as my Radeon was disabled due to blue screen errors, which is now fixed (the on board runs at about a quarter of the specs of my Radeon)). Mind you this would be stock Skyrim, not modded Skyrim with all those fancy HD texture packs. Of course running it at as low as I had too it could look much better, won't know until I get another invite for the next beta weekend (if I do).
  16. Watching that makes me want this game even more, looks freaking amazing.
  17. Wow that's a lot later then I expected. Hmmm, now do I still go through and buy my PS4 when I originally planned to (sometime in March) or do I wait till right before Destiny comes out? I'll definitely have to think that through (though I most likely will buy it earlier, only because I want Watchdogs).
  18. It's so fucking cold outside my car wouldn't start last night and now my Grandmother's car won't start. God I hate freaking winter and these below zero temps x.x

  19. Caught my interest, in fact I downloaded it today. Will most likely watch it tonight or tomorrow night. I agree with DX though, Funimation makes the worst trailers I've seen out of any company. On the MAL page for the movie its stated there is a year between both children, Yuki being born in the winter and Ame being born a year later during the spring.
  20. I just finished getting caught up on the show last night and I have to say I love this show. Has so much potential, I just hope Fox doesn't pull a Firefly here and cancel it because this show is awesome. Have to say I was rather surprised by how low tech some of the weapons are. You'd think with synthetics around they'd be sporting much more powerful weapons then just your average, everyday guns. The tech they use though is pretty amazing. Like the spray mask that screws with cameras, was a rather nice touch. The one thing that sells me on this show though is the interactions between Dorian and John. On one hand you have a synthetic that was made to act and emulate like a human that is also trying to learn what it is to be human and you have a damaged cop who's basically relearning who he is (the first episode basically answers why he's relearning). Just my take on the premise of the show. Their banter is priceless (Dorian cracks me up, especially with the whole online dating profile thing. Damn near lost it when he did that). Out of all the synthetics the only ones that appear and act human are Dorian (DRN) and those sexbots from episode 2. The MX series AI is just to robotic to emulate a human, then again they were made to be just like that (no emotion, just logic based programming (acting a lot like Spock)). AI like Dorian's is far off but honestly it'd be amazing and creepy at the same time to meet something so human but know it's actually a synthetic emulating human behavior. If that happens we might just be living in a GitS universe (which would be totally awesome).
  21. I've been following the game for a long while, have even considered throwing money at it (but I threw money at another game being funded on Kickstarter). Looks good and I like the idea of crowd funding games, people can fund the games they want and we don't have to wait for EA or Activision to make up their minds. My only problem with this game is the freaking funds this game has generated. $32 million is a lot of freaking money, more money then I've ever seen a game developed for in the past (hell in school we were told when we were making our pitches for our final games to keep the costs as low as possible (speaking theoretically here) and the one I decided to pitch would of only costed 5.5 million). All I can say is for the amount of money going in this game better deliver everything it's promising and more. I only hope something doesn't go wrong and this bombs completely, that's a lot of money down the drain that may or may not be refunded. Of course they would DX, them COD fanboys will pay anything as long as it gets them more COD (something I still don't understand).
  22. Ok I think Kill la Kill has worked its way up into my top 5 anime, the show is freaking over the top and awesome.

I saw that the Gurren Lagaan team made this. Hows the fight scenes?

      Eppy

      Yeah the show is bananas

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Fight scenes are quite awesome and over the top, plus Ryuuko fights in a scantily clad suit so a win-win. As Eppy said it is bananas.

  23. I don't know, something still bugs me about this RoboCop. Don't get me wrong I'm liking the action sequences in the trailers but I just don't like this RoboCop, the black just turns me off of this design and what they're doing with the character just bugs me. Then again I didn't think I'd like the new Dredd movie but I ended up loving it so maybe I'll like this.
  24. Just got an invite to the Elder Scolls Online Beta. Great timing since internet is fixed but I wonder if my computer can run it

      Sledgstone

I remember when I installed Windows 3.1 on my DOS computer.. Windows used so many system resources i thought it was a pointless graphical operating system that had no future. ^_^; months later I found out I could use an image for a background, my mind was blown. XD

      DeathscytheX

      800x600 resolution FTW!

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I had to upgrade my monitor to get that resolution. XD My original computer had an 5 1/4 floppy drive and a 10 or 20mb hard drive. When those 1.4 mb disks came out.. it was huge. XD

  25. Yay, I have internet again. God damn cable splitters going bad >.<

    1. Eppy

      Eppy

Splitters are more common a problem then you think and easily overlooked. Most of the time its older splitters that are still analog instead of digital.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Yea that's what the tech said when we determined the problem. I've never dealt with splitters going bad so I was surprised when he said that was the problem. Thankfully he replaced all the old ones we could find while he was here so this most likely won't happen again for while.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Just remember where all those splitters are if you ever get whole house DVR. I got it with a promo.. my internet bill went up $7 more a month but I got WHDVR, HBO and extreme internet.. but when the guy came over he needed to install these 2 inch long adapters onto every single splitter.
