  1. They're def going for the Trials of Osiris feel. Short skirmishes over multiple rounds.
  2. The 4v4 is a result of Trials of Osiris which was 3v3. Like Overwatch its only fun if you are with friends. In 4v4 there is no having an off night or a bad game, you'll lose it for your whole team. I don't disagree with the mode, but I do disagree with it being the feature mode. As much as I love OW, I rarely play it solo... and I wouldn't really care to play 4v4 solo either. I guess they want to semi-force people to get use to not being carried for when Trials comes to D2. If Iron Banner isn't 6v6, its going to be rough if your team doesn't have the proper gear. At least with 6v6 one or two people could be under geared and you might still be ok. The only way Destiny will be successful is a separate but equal rewards system. Every mode needs to have the same tier of weapons both exotic and legendary. Exotics need to be great across the board, not just Gjally, Thorn, and then everything else. Lets face it, there were a lot of raid legengdaries that were better than exotics. Hopefully their new weapon slot system stops them from nerfing everything. Having a Handcannon and Pulse Rifle will be nice. My biggest gripe is that I can almost assure you that Fatebringer, Ice Breaker, Felwinter's Lie, Gjally (post nerf), and other popular D1 extoics/legendaries will be used to pump up DLC sales. And they'll all be watered down versions that will make people rage about it.
  3. I watched an unedited playthrough of the strike. The first half looks like reused assets from the black garden (the final story mission of D1). I liked the drill hazard mechanic and the last boss, but outside of that it looked too easy.
  4. Over all it was a decent presentation. They could have went into more depth about some of the new aspects of open world. They repeated a lot of I play solo/my kids play solo/SOLO! talk and then briefly mentioned the new aspects that accompany patrols. The added layer to public events sounds cool but I'd like to see what it entails. If its a solo objective and everyone is trying to get it at the same time, it will be rage inducing rather than cool. The Guided Games concept is good natured, but unless clans get decent enough rewards to carry noobs through raids, it will just be used as an LFG for people with the meta load outs. They'd have to have a raid ranking or stat, and the lower the stat (which should be account wide across all characters to prevent boosting) the more rewards a clan can get. This should also be divided up into similar and different rewards up until a certain threshold... that way clans don't go looking for complete noobs and people that have done them sparingly wont get kicked because they aren't a "real noob". Its all a complex formula I'm sure they didn't use at all. PvP being 4v4 is going to be brutal. I see them adding 6v6 back at some point. Having one terrible person on your team is going to make solo q not fun at all. Everyone will have to be competent. Iron banner will be less fun getting steam rolled by people with beastly gear. I need more details on gear acquisition and the adventures. The story looks a lot better... but they don't have as much experience with how to move the camera like COD does. The guy just looks like a noob playing in this demo. When I finally got to raid in D1, it was some of the best content of any shooter. Its a shame that high quality mechanics couldn't have gone into strikes. They said only 50% of the playerbase ever touched raids in the game. Thats pretty telling... if they are decreasing the size of PvP, then I hope more effort will be put into smaller group content. The 3 part boss of the strike sounds intriguing, I hope we see some footage of that. I really want this game to be good. They realize they had a playerbase retention problem the last game... and I hope they really listened to the player feedback.
  5. Looks like Overwatch is having a free weekend the 26-29th. Noobs everywhere.

I doubt I'll have the time to get some rounds in. I'm so far behind on things I want to do and games I want to play. x_x

  6. Good CG and decent action are also present in the Transformers movies, but it doesn't save them.
  7. Meh, not even sad I'll miss this. Female Spock rip off, and on top of that all I can see is Sasha. She wasn't a good actor in TWD, and I don't see that changing here. Too many aliens as crew... it makes zero sense timeline wise if this took place before TOS. We go from Humans and a Vulcan on Enterprise to a diverse alien crew on this series, back to humans and a vulcan on TOS. The "I can sense death" guy already bothers me. I feel like its something that's going to be overplayed, and unlike Counselor Troy, there is no way to be vague about his abilities in a way where he could be wrong and it be believable. The captain isn't the anchoring main character, and seems weak in this trailer... if "Sasha" is always questioning her orders, it will make the story worse.
  8. So in about a week it will have been 1 year since this game came out. Its been a long time since a shooter type game has kept my interest for an entire year. The game has evolved quite a bit since day one. In a single year we've gotten 3 heroes and 3 maps. It doesn't sound like much, but considering the balancing equation this game requires, it actually is. Not only have heroes received constantly balancing, but so have maps. Unlike other games that don't admit when they've made a mistake. Blizzard has altered their maps, opened up choke points, and made new paths and door ways when defense has it too good. As I sit back and reflect upon my time with the game, I've come to a few observations about heroes. I started out with Torb and D.Va as my best characters. A year later Junkrat, D.Va, Roadhog, and Lucio are probably my strongest characters. D.Va is kind of in a poor state now. Her armor nerf was pretty shit IMO, and she can't do anything against Zarya. Once Zarya sees you just just immediately goes after you because her beam rips through defense matrix. This needs to change TBH. Its pretty bullshit. I still play her because I adore her character, and I love her alt. I never thought I'd be good at support, but damn, Lucio is becoming my most played character. He's #3 right now behind Junks and D.Va. But with people not willing to play healer, I've become pretty damn good with him... not only keeping my team alive, but I've managed to get gold medals in kills as well. The buff to his gun did a lot of good, and his healing buff/nerf was done well. You have to work to heal like every other support character now, but you still have the speed advantage. Now that I've spent time with Ana, I do like her and how she works. I prefer Lucio any and every day, but if I get stuck with her on mystery heroes, for the weekly loot box credit, I can be pretty proficient with her. I continue to get better with Genji. Hes just a rewarding character to play. You have to work hard to max your DPS, and you really need a decent healer to keep you up. With the rise of Orisa, and Winston's shield buff. Junkrat is just a very important character now. Hes a shield buster... and now that his bombs don't self inflict damage, you can cause mayhem in small rooms without worrying about killing yourself. Some people are foolish enough to challenge your territory with a tank. This game is still not very fun playing solo. I get frustrated waiting for friends to get on as I constantly get people picking hanzo and widow... and then ana as a healer to make it worse. They all just ignore the "too many snipers" warning on the side.... then when you start the match none of them take out the torb turret, bastion, or Phara.
  9. So after playing this sparingly for the last 3 weeks, I've learned 2 things. 1. Diablo is fucking OP as hell. WTF? I was lucky to get him as a lootbox drop and have wrecked face with him. He can win 1v2s and even 1v3s if you're decent and your opponents are poor. He has insane CC, gap closers, damage, HP, and a massive MP pool. He can also trait to regen HP so you can retreat when you're in trouble, and regroup pretty fast. With a support healing and buffing you, you're an unstoppable god. Once I killed 20 heroes and didn't die one time. I'm not really good at this game, but I can beast with Diablo, and I've been rekted a ton by him. You cannot 1v1 him at all, unless you're some pro at the game. I think the only challenging opponent I've had is some dragon like hero that can split into 4-5. 2. The Monk from diablo is a 1v1 beast once you get your ult. 7 sided strike can make even Diablo retreat if you have back up. Spec it to hit more and you'll win every 1v1 encounter with any non tank hero. Once you lay it on them and they try to retreat, you can shadow step to them and continue the beat down. You can spec at the start to regen mana by using basic attacks... you pretty much get unlimited mana from this and can just spam your skills off CD without worrying about running out of juice. Plus you gain a ton of access to spirit shielding, and you have a self/group heal with a short CD. He's very tanky once you've gotten a few upgrades. I pretty much play these two characters exclusively. Mostly because I lock down one lane by myself... even if I can't win the fight, I can stall indefinitely while my teammates go on the offensive.
  10. Overall I like the collection for the new back piece this LWS3 ep, but I hope they don't make this the standard for the expac. Its cool to have a few here and there, but just one is causing the same type of issues that legendary journeys too... My inventory is cluttered with BS because I have to hold on to useless crap and turn them all in at the same time instead of as I get them. Even with max bags I've overburned my inventory twice today.

T1-3 isn't bad because you can turn everything in as you get them, but for some reason T4 you have to turn in like 4 at a time. I probably would have waited on doing some of these if I would have known. I have like 6 things in my inventory waiting to be fused with druid stones, including the 2 I already fused and can turn in until I fuse the right other 2.

Thankfully the Hidden Garden one is just a orchard to the side, and none of the JP is required. I'm so tired of doing that damn thing. BTW when you start planting seeds, don't leave immediately. Fire Orchard nodes pop for you to mine after you plant them.

I hate collections like that. I swear they made them just to encourage bag slot purchases.

  11. Well I wish I knew what the words translated too. It could give us more context.
  12. Triple Trouble was kind enough to give me another Regurgitated Armor box. I now I have all the skins... plus an extra box because I didn't realize that there were no boots or leggings skins. I opened all the boxes I've saved up and Vipered my Ranger. I just need trinkets and a back piece which I'm currently working on to give to her. Even with what I have right now, shes fun to play again. LB/S/A got left in the dust after the power creep and it just wasn't up to par. I'm melting things again with SB/A/T.

I'm tempted to viper mine out with the ascended armor set I got from pvp, but I'm a bit hesitant with the expansion leaks indicating it'd be more focused on power. Then again that is easily 4-5 months away still and swapping ascended armor isn't that costly. Are you using the build from metabattle with the odd combo of 4/2 different runes?

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Nope. The nightmare runes are TA dungeon. I'd  have to do a reward track. I might do it later but I went all trapper runes for now.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Twilight Arbor was daily today. A couple quick paths and those runes can be yours! XD I think its stupid that some meta builds are using these old dungeon runes. I saw a wvw build months ago that used runes from Honor of the Waves dungeon. wtf. XD

  13. http://kotaku.com/sources-bioware-montreal-downsized-mass-effect-put-on-1795100285 Pretty much says it all.
  14. When they announced this, I thought it was stupid they were making a sequel... but if anything else, I do like how it sticks with the 80's dark dingy style future.
  15. Once again my company restructures and my position in the company is eliminated. I'm pretty much a lock for another position they created, but its getting old having to worry about whether I'll have a job the next year when they probably do change again. It will be a night shift management position so I'll be working late again and not get to game with friends like I've been enjoying the past 8-9 months. On the upside at least I'll be back in management, and not some guy thats coded for a job he's not really doing because he's being used as a manager/utility guy.

I was going to buy a new graphics card and power supply, but its on hold now until I know for sure I'll still be employees in a few weeks. Its pretty tough watching people lose their job that you've worked with for years. It seems just about every retail company is doing this lately. I know Lowes recently laid off a shit ton of managers.

The problem with $15 an hour is all this bullshit fight against evil big corporations not paying the little man enough. You can't champion the middle class by doing this shit because all it does is fuck small and medium size businesses. They cant afford to pay people $15 an hour. Thus you're actually just helping big business by maintaining a monopoly over everything becasue no one will ever be able to become an innovative start up company. Industry will never change unless it's cost effective for the status quo. I've argued with people about this before "You want people to stay poor!" No you fucking moron, no one deserves to live in a 150k sq ft house and drive a new Jeep when all the do is drop a basket of fries in oil... otherwise no one would want to aspire to be anything else.

Yes the overtime law had a lot to do with the first restructure even though my company denies it. A lot of companies did this and its not like they can go "Oh, well.. everyone can have their job back now that we don't have to pay you OT". And this latest move was their "fix". I'll admit there were a lot of people in the positions that were cut, that didn't need to be there. A lot has changed in the company over the last 10 years, and some people just had a leadership title but didn't lead anyone, and didn't pull their weight either because they felt some of the work was below them. I've always made it a point to make myself indispensable. I've always busted my ass and dealt with any unfair bullshit situations, by accepting it and still working hard. Thats why I've made it through 3 of these things. What irritates me are those that always seem to be safe from these by luck or by getting the right promotion or being at the right place at the right time. There is that certain echelon I've been trying to get to, but it always evades me because this happens when I'm so close. To get in, someone has to quit or get fired, which is rare. Of course the last 3 times its happened was after the last restructure and they ended up no cutting enough jobs, so those extras got to fill the new vacancies to level off stores to the right amount. But with how it is now, it will probably be years before anyone retires.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

As a guy stuck in these low level positions (mostly by choice, I've worked my way up only to have it bite me in the ass so I'm happy being down here with the grunts) it's nice to see the incentive of raising the minimum wage however they're doing it the wrong way. Raising wages to a flat $15 an hour isn't the answer, it's their way of making themselves look like they care when they don't (and a way to make it so jobs don't leave the country which sadly isn't going to stop). I've said it more than once that minimum wage needs to be based on the currently standard of living in each city/state (more so city but that's due to where I live more then anything) as, like DX pointed out, most smaller to medium sized businesses can't afford to pay wages not centered on their areas SoL (businesses that are small mom and pop shops or state chains, not businesses like Walmart who could afford to pay all their employees $15 and up an hour but choose not to (don't be fooled by them raising their wages, just a publicity stunt. More wages means less people to work now so it gets harder on those employees still there (they actually eliminated a lot of positions in the company to do this))). Sadly the people leading our country don't see this (and Trump for one doesn't give two shits about us little guys trying to make a living) and just do things without fully thinking it through and businesses don't care outside of what it will cost them (hence the lay offs and what have you). Just because $14 an hour is the bare minimum needed to be able to survive where I live (due to the Bakken/Oil Industry) doesn't mean you should be paying your employees that in a small town where $9 an hour will let them live a comfortable life (not many places I know of where $9 an hour will suffice but I'm sure they're out there).

Sadly though it'll continue to happen. Eventually minimum wage will get so high we won't have any jobs to go after as they're all shifted overseas to people willing to work for less than a dollar an hour. I don't bitch because I make enough money to cover my bills, make sure I have food, and pay for those few luxuries I enjoy (even though I'm making less money an hour then I was before I got fired, man OT really makes up that difference though) but I know of plenty of people who don't (close friends as well who can't aspire to be more because they can't afford to get the schooling or training to do so) so yeah. Like I said I don't bitch, no reason to because no matter how loud we bitch very little gets heard or changed for the better.

Sadly DX it's those people who will never give up those positions and when they eventually do they'll probably restructure again to deny you the position (don't know the situation or what its like to work for you're company but I know plenty of companies that will do shit like that saying the position is no longer needed and they were getting rid of it). No matter how indispensable you make yourself it rarely ever pays off because after awhile those people just keep using you to better themselves (me being fired is one of those instances, busted my ass for 10 months to make the store look better only to get fired due to allegations that I was stealing only because the person who deserved to get fired was trying to take everyone who helped her out with her (yea she got fired but took nearly the whole management team with her). The Store Manager didn't even try to defend us in the fallout, just let us take the fall so he wouldn't look bad (again a reason why I never want to be in a position of power again)).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I've known 2 people that made upwards to 6 figures for their jobs and 1 that was making easily 200k a year. Over the last 20 years, when they retired at different times from their respective jobs, each one of them found out that the person that ended up with their jobs or the equivilant of their jobs were all making roughly 40-60k instead. All these old people know they got into their jobs at the right time with guaranteed raises when they were hired. All they had to do was stick with a company for decades to reap in all the rewards. Way back when job loyalty and retention was more important so all the companies gave out pensions, guaranteed raises, company matched retirement plans, etc. No jobs nowadays offer pensions except maybe being a teacher. The US companies have taken everything they can get from the employees over the years to increase their bottom lines and over time we all got used to it... except for those old people in their comfy jobs now. The old baby boomers are a reason we have the low wages we face today as well as all the jobs shipped overseas. All the companies are paying the old baby boomers such high wages and benefits that the money has to come from somewhere other than their profits, so all new employees get paid the minimum with no benefits. Even if all those baby boomers retired now, our culture is already used to these shit wages and they wont go back up. I had a coworker that was forced into retirement about 5 years ago. He literally died the year after that. I swear all these old people want to keep working until the day they die.

  16. They'll keep her white, because black people can't be racist is the social narrative of the day. You won't ever see characters like Zues in Die Hard anymore. It doesn't surprise me they took a dump on the story. I never read the books, but the trailer just looks like a modern day gritty Last Action Hero/Neverending Story.
  17. I remember a gigantic discussion topic Lady started on this book a long time ago on this forum. Thought it was interesting they were making a film about it so many years later.
  18. Adept is pretty brutal by yourself... Even though I'm not great. I found at least 3 enemy AI heroes around the tribute every time and they slaughtered me because none of my AI heroes came to help. Its def better to play with at least 3 people so there can be one in each lane. Tyrael is probably my favorite hero. That Sanctification elite skill is beastly when you need to make a push.
  19. Not sure, I'm not a big afker. you might as well download it before the 22nd and get your free 20 hero bundle. http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/heroes20/megabundles/

Soulbeast looks amazing too. I'll be pissed if this isn't real, its the most elaborate fake ever if thats the case. All the specs look amazing.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That is absolutely the most elaborate fake leaks for this game I've ever seen. I'm going to assume its all legit and Anet has a serious leak issue with their NDA. Mounts look huge, if those are true to scale, I wonder if they'll ever be implemented in the core or HoT maps. If a zerg wasn't bad enough lag at world bosses, imagine the massive fps drop when everyone pops on a mount and the total model size of the zerg is doubled. Anet better have upgraded their engine to be able to handle it or GW2 will become one of the best looking games at a constant 20 fps. x_x

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Unless they coded them like combat tonics. Then it might be ok. I want to say I've seen a ton of snowballs on my screen and it didn't make the fps drop worse than it already was. If I had to guess they leaked them on purpose though. People were starting to get disgruntled again about leggy weapons 2.0 and how they weren't gonna be done. This is def a mood changer.

  21. Caught the first two episodes. So far its interesting, less action and more substance. Even then it feels like these episodes only last 15 minutes.. they go by so fast I feel like not enough happened. Maybe its just the torment of only being able to watch 1 episode a week when I'm use to binging these things.
  22. I haven't played with people yet, but AI matches last about 10 min I want to say. Depends on the game mode. The one I play the most has you gather 3 tributes to cures the enemy team, when they get a cruse, all their NPC grunts go down to 1HP and all their defense towers stop shooting. The objective is the core in their base. Its invulnerable until you destroy some keeps around it. I haven't really found anyone I care for so far. I doubt I'll never play this game outside of Overwatch skin events. Its not very fun to me.
