  1. Oh no! Steam is so tempting and wonderful--they always have sales with games for something ridiculous ($2?!). I've been busy but well, and yes...gaming has definitely sucked up much of my time. The past week has been a nonstop Skyrim-a-thon. If you find time for -any- game sometime soon, that should be it! Has your job been keeping you busy? (I feel like the last time I was here, you had an insane job keeping you swamped 24/7...)

  2. Haha, sucked into some sort of black hole-ish vortex?! :)

  3. First off, hi everyone. It's been awhile! Now to the reason I'm posting after an X-year long absence: my fiance has created a product that I think any gamer can appreciate / get excited about, and it's currently entered into the "Global Startup Battle" (after winning our local Startup competition). If it's something that you think sounds cool / that you'd want to be able to purchase in the near future, I'd like to ask for voting support over at the Startup Battle website. Basically, it's an adapter that lets you play any of your old systems (NES, SNES, N64, PS2, etc.) with a wireless Bluetooth controller, like the Wiimote or PS3 controller. They created the adapter and got it working between an NES and Wiimote in less than 3 days, (I played Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES with a Wiimote--so cool!) and if they win the Global Startup Battle I imagine they'll be able to go on and make the additional adapter plugins to work with other systems pretty easily. No more wires! So if this is something you would be interested in, please head over to http://globalstartupbattle.com/battle/, click "Vote Now," and "See All Entries." Then scroll until you find Awesome Controller, and vote for it! That simple. If it wins, I'll let you guys know when it goes on sale to the public.

    FFXIV to 360.

I don't understand why this is always the first and primary complaint about large games on the 360...how much does standing up for 1 second and swapping a disc a total of one or two times during a 60+ hour game really affect your experience?
  5. The studio's loss; Norton is the best actor in Hollywood today. Just because he offers creative criticism and actually thinks about a film beyond his own lines--that's not a "team player"?
  6. Okay, I just had to share what is quickly becoming my ultra-favorite class: MP5K -- Silencer Spas-12 -- Grip Stun Grenades Semtex Marathon (Pro) Stopping Power (Pro) Ninja (Pro) (Whatever KSs you prefer, I like 6-7-9). This set-up wrecks in mid-CQB maps. It's my favorite for Underpass, Highrise, Scrapyard, etc. I think I've gotten >10 K/D spread on Underpass almost every time I've used this (Rob, I was using this or a very similar class when I got like 3 Pavelows against that terrible team you were stuck with on Underpass X'D). Anyway, <3 the MP5K. I use it more than the SCAR now.
  7. Haha, very nice! I got "Stickman" the other day (game-winning killcam by sticking an enemy with Semtex), and was super excited...but then saw that the emblem is absolutely hideous. I wanted something awesome for such a sweet challenge. I hope Hi Def was more visually rewarding.
  8. Most things, sure. But there are also a number that I don't want to ever deal with again, like getting the Holographic Sight for the FAL. 60 kills with a misaligned RDS on a gun that isn't especially easy to use to begin with...not fun. And Cold-Blooded is definitely more of a "my team sucks" perk than anything, Rob, that's true. It's also helpful when you're the only person shooting down killstreaks, as your teammates run into Harrier fire over and over again without even considering dropping them. Lord. Edit: Haha, cute. I didn't know you could assign a smiley to an entire post...ignore that at the top, I was just trying to insert the little sweat droppy guy at the end.
  9. Those two sentences explain each other, hehe--I canNOT live without Ninja Pro. I have 4 classes with Ninja Pro and 1 with Commando Pro (for when I feel like going crazy and jumping off buildings). I think if I prestiged and didn't have Ninja anymore, the game would be unplayable. So props to you for sticking it out Ninja-less, you are a bigger man than I. X'D
  10. Haha, I only bought the game in like April, all the original maps are new enough to me that I don't need to spend $30+ dollars on more! > And wait! Shipstar never uses a heartbeat sensor...you must be talking about bdogg. (He always uses HBS.) But Ship does like to "patrol" an area...he's also our best player, so it seems to work (vs. my love of running all over the map and dying a dozen times in a row). He's more "campy" than I am, but it's not like he sits in a corner ADS with a claymore behind him (which is what like half the people who play FFA spend the whole time doing ).
  11. Why are you always on the other team!? Booo!!
  12. Cocaine seems like an "obviously bad" drug to compare games to, but the "high" is probably more comparable to drinking a caffeinated soda. And anything can become an "addiction" that negatively affects a person because they pursue it to an unhealthy degree. Some people are addicted to sticking oddly-shaped vegetables in their orifices--oh no! Better keep the carrots locked up to protect the children! A couple hours of video games can also: improve hand-eye coordination, logical reasoning abilities, reading comprehension, teach you something new (look at all the mythology and history cropping up in games), among other positive effects. But why delve into those when you can blame your personal problems on video games? I'm fat, lazy, and ignorant--what's an easy cop-out? All those drugs I did when I was younger! All those video games!
  13. The RDS is for getting the Holo (which I don't have yet) for the weird steady aim bonus it apparently gives the Spas-12? It's supposedly like having Steady Aim equipped--like how the holo-sight on the M16 reduces bullet spread for no reason...otherwise, the Spas-12 is a beast without anything equipped, so the attachment doesn't really matter.
  14. I don't really care about heartbeat sensors, but silent footsteps = massive win, especially if you're running a silencer and Cold-Blooded. Just seems like a throwaway to then sound like an elephant coming at people when you're "almost" a stealth class. I like run-and-gun, too, but especially when it's run-right-up-behind-someone-and-gun. My "destroyer" class is Scar-H with silencer, Spas-12 with RDS, Semtex, Stun Grenade, Scavenger Pro, Stopping Power Pro, and Ninja Pro. I always use this one when I just feel like...well, winning. I'll send you a message whenever we're playing Battlefield.
  15. Jeez, Mr. Popular. X'D We usually play every weekend (except this one), but may be switching to Battlefield more often soon... But why would you ruin such a wonderful class with Commando Pro? Ninja Pro > Commando Pro 90% of the time!
  16. We need to play together again! We played like 2 games on opposite teams the first week I bought it. I was trying to figure out how to throw grenades, and you shot me every time I turned a corner.
  17. Yours won't heal you? If I drop below 60 health, the CPU is all over me. "Hold still, I gotta heal you!" No, you don't, dammit!
  18. The guy in the suit reminds me of Edward Norton. I will only be playing him. I must like skinny, well-dressed guys for zombie-killin' I only use Louis currently. I think the CPU has actually gotten dumber since the patch. I've watched Francis and Bill stand in the middle of a horde, not firing a single shot. It's like they forget they have guns. Occasionally they'll kill a boomer from across the map, but for the most part they're a hindrance as they use all the health packs and then proceed to jump off bridges or into tanks' arms.
  19. Um, Robbie Robs, what? Are all tall guys douche bags? X'D
  20. Haha, it's not the ONLY game I play, but it is the one competitive multiplayer game I play. And yes, it is an amazing game, especially its online Versus (where you get to play as the zombies half the time). But... Personally, I'm not very excited about L4D2...I think it's way too early for a sequel, considering the first game came out last November. Valve claims they'll continue supporting and updating L4D, but with the amount they've updated it to this point (read: barely), that doesn't mean much. If you haven't played it and the trailer interests you at all, I'd say just wait for L4D2 to come out--don't spend $120 on what's going to end up being essentially the same game twice.
  21. Fixed. ...I mean, the movie looks good, too. But someone was thinking pretty clearly to put two of the hottest actors alive in a gangster movie together.
  22. Interesting thought, although all the game developers I know frequent message boards pretty often. Mostly because 1) they're tech and internet nerds and 2) they like to discuss this sort of thing. Maybe Ancient Clan, a heavily anime-based forum, wouldn't be their primary home, but it's silly to suggest someone with the capabilities to build a gaming device is somehow above message boards. There are some pretty brilliant minds here, even, that I have faith could accomplish such a feat. I'd just like to point out that my initial post was on topic: I was commenting on how the Wii would have been better had it utilized touch controls instead of motion controls. You steered it towards handhelds specifically when you decided to bash the DS for no reason in your response: "If Nintendo had focused on the DS as the entire gaming package I would have been still staying away from Nintendo. That Dual Screen thing is too irritating. They should have made a 3D Gameboy instead of that thing." Next time you want to get uppity about staying on topic, try to follow your own advice. Now, DX, I believe your image is fully justified, and I am finished.
  23. I'm "offended" because you seem to have an undeserved opinion of the DS and my idea. I don't think you've actually played the DS. Your claim that two screens is "goofy" indicates such. It really seems like you saw the DS, developed an opinion of it, and then decided to argue it to the death without actually giving it a chance. And I asked for your personal preference because you were so clearly sure my idea was terrible, you must have a better one yourself--yet you had initially suggested what sounded like a total flop product to begin with. Then, after clarification, you suggested a product that essentially can't exist. You see the issue here? You poorly criticize my idea, and offer no better solution. Why should I take criticism from someone who can't come up with anything better than "that's goofy"? Obviously touch screens aren't new. But they're only now being successfully utilized in a wide array of technologies. "Two screens walk into a bar. One wants to be felt up. And the other wants to be on top. Meh... Almost as bad of a joke as the DS. Yes I do like pause menus. They give me a breather when I'm in fast paced action. Two screens isn't just way too much; its just goofy." Let me guess--you only play Madden games. "Congrats on wanting whats basically a touch screen universal remote control." Congrats on, once again, not knowing what you're talking about. Although a DS system that can also make coffee and set some mood lighting might have its place. "Do I dare say your view on the touch screen is only your opinion because you hate Motion Controls." This makes about as much sense as the rest of your responses. I don't like the motion controls on the Wii, I've admitted as much: but because they're sloppily implemented and typically make a game more difficult to play, not more fun. The touch screen shines in comparison because it usually improves gameplay; it does not deter from it. Other than that, I dare say you were reaching for a severely dim connection and did not find it here. "What I found dumb was a game that needed somehow 3 screens in order to play." And what I found dumb was your belief that a third screen image would magically appear. I haven't considered all the specs for this "goofy dream" of mine, but thanks for ensuring I won't look to you for suggestions. "Yes please do get back on topic to the thread I made & not some goofy dream of the DS." So, let me get this straight. Your complaints about my suggestion are 1) it will somehow require three screens (which it obviously would not) 2) it uses the DS, which is obviously a terrible system (yes, that's universally accepted) and 3) it's goofy Well, I'm obviously beat. ...And because I'm 99% sure you won't realize it, that last line is dripping sarcasm.
  24. And on a less rage-y and more related to the original post note: http://www.gamecareerguide.com/industry_news/22371/news/22371/nielsen_wii_gets_broader_.php The Wii may be the top seller, but it is played the least. Interesting, but not surprising.
  25. Edit: Actually, the more I read your response the better I feel. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about; your entire post reeks of that. Complaining about graphical capabilities, and yet you suggest that your "PSP"-like system use cartridges instead of discs? PSP discs can hold 1.8 gigs of data, while DS cartridges have space for 256 MBs. Why do you think systems haven't used cartridges since the N64? If you want your 3D Game Boy, you'd better suggest it use discs, unless you're hoping for super short games. Just because you prefer to look at one screen doesn't mean that's the better choice when it comes to gaming. How difficult is it to look at two screens that are right on top of each other? It makes total sense in terms of gaming evolution. Do you prefer to hit Start or some other button every time you want basic information? Yeah, that's fun. Additionally, most Wii games don't have graphics any better than the Gamecube. If graphics were the main concern here, the Wii wouldn't be selling at all. The best titles on the Wii are on the Virtual Console--oh, and what are those? Right, games from the '80s and '90s. Games with amazing gameplay and mediocre graphics. Shocking. And in the end, the major factor to keep in mind is the touch screen. I wasn't touting the dual screens as the main draw. You're the one who seems to be hung up on that facet. You also wouldn't be looking at three screens--where did you even get that from? If you hook something up to play through your TV, it plays through your TV screen. You don't get some magical third image appearing. What is one of the amazing new functionalities they added to the latest PSP? Gasp! Being able to play it on your TV. People like that sort of thing. Touch screen functionality > motion control functionality. That was my point; that the Wii would have been better as a more DS-related console and focused on utilizing touch screen controls in a console format. I did find your post amusing, though. If you think my idea is a bad joke, I'll take that as a compliment. I'd be worried if I came up with something you thought was ingenious.
