Looks like they've turn her from being a strong independent person that is happy with who she is and then into a person that feels like they have to conform to what everyone else's ideals and perceptions. I'm glad I haven't read the books.

I heard that the same guy that made that awful bloodrayne movie was also trying to get the rights to make a metal gear movie. I guess he didn't get to destroy this one

I believe Beckett implied that he wanted the kraken killed so that it wouldn't be used for a surprised attack on his ship in order to get the heart back. I'm sure it would be quite easy to turn the ship over and having the chest roll off somewhere before they could get to it.
