I really liked the first season and I hope season 2 picks up the pace and incorporates some aspects of the game like the EGO system, Nim, the 99ers, Dark Matter, infector weapons, etc. Considering its a series that is connected to a game.. there are very few actual connections between the two properties. It almost feels likes its the same world but to different realities.

As a person who actually paid $60 for this game when it first came out, this pisses me off. The game I paid for was buggy as hell, broken missions, had numerous server issues issues and even server queues. Over the past year Trion has finally fixed all the issues and made the game a complete product.. a product that I should have received a year ago. What I really believe is that Trion planned on the game going Free-to-Play from the beginning and everyone that paid the initial $60 basically crowd-funded this game to completion. In the end I look back and I can see that what I paid for was an early unfinished product that was in a beta for a year until they got enough in game purchase options available and DLC out to make the game free to play and still make money off a new possible flood of customers. If you have not played the game before, I do recommend it. It'll be great to play once a week during Defiance Season 2 as there will be new cross over content, weekly episode missions and the entire core game campaign will be completely free. What I do not recommend is buying any of the DLC. I never bought them, but I know someone who has and its definitely not worth the money. I'll play Defiance again for season 2 and a possible season 3 of the Syfy show, but I will not buy another Trion Worlds, Inc. game. If they ever make another game and plan on charging for it, don't bother as it will most likely be a beta for a year and you'll get it free when its actually worth a damn. Anyone catch the premiere episode? I thought it was pretty good. Syfy has been promoting the hell out of the show and it looks like they did a good job with it. The acting is good, the musical score was great, the landscapes where very eye catching.. However a couple parts seemed a little predictable, the cg was good, but it was a bit off with a couple vehicles and I wish the battle at the end lasted a bit longer. I was surprised to see an army like that coming to destroy the city. But I'm glad it has some action. After playing the game for a while, I was starting to wonder where all the danger was in series. Seeing as no army came to help them, it looks like Defiance is a completely stand alone town with no allies or affiliation with any larger nation. i think this show has quite a bit of potential.

This event is going to end on June 17 to coincide with a new TV episode of Defiance in which news of the plague reaches the city. I was playing last weekend and saw quite a few outposts overwhelmed with sick people in makeshift sickbays with rumors being spread about infected humans going into rages and killing people. Well, it looks like the outbreak is completely in effect now with hordes of infected that need to be put down. It'll be interesting to see how this ties into the series, but I don't see how the outcome of the missions would effect the series.. unless maybe everyone lets themselves be killed and then season 2 of Defiance becomes the new Walking Dead.

A couple days ago the NDA was lifted on the Defiance beta, which means it can be discussed openly. I have been playing the beta this weekend and I am impressed with this game. I've never seen a beta setup before with such an easy way to submit your bug reports and feedback. I must have filled out 15 feedback forms this weekend. So far this game is quite fun. The controls are the same as a typical FPS game. In fact, it more or less was the same button layout as Call of Duty Black Ops 2. The game is played in a 3rd person perspective and when you zoom in with a weapon it does an over the shoulder view that is zoomed in a bit for your weapon sights. When you are using a sniper rifle, the screen will be filled with the entire scope like in a regular FPS game. Groups were working great until this morning. I had no problem meeting up with friends and play the entire campaign together. Fast map travel is available for major cities. Secondary quests are available throughout the map in multiple locations. If anything, this game is like a combination of Guild Wars and an FPS. Guild Wars because of the secondary quests and fast map travel and an FPS because of the combat system. Also, like in Guild Wars 2 and other MMOs, you will see many other players in the game. Some that might have the same objective as you and are attacking the same enemies. Overall I highly recommend this game. With all the feedback they'll have from this beta, I hope they get the bugs fixed because this game is good.

Like other game developers, Defiance has created a live action trailer for their upcoming game. Check out the video to see what kind of action to expect at an Arkfall site and get a glimpse as to what its like to be an Ark Hunter.

It already has my interest. It looks good, has potential.. and now look at this quote from an announcement made back on 05/21/2012 with some info on the impressive group of people that are working on this project: http://community.defiance.com/en/2012/05/21/defiance-pilot-production-begins/ That sounds like a great combination of talent and now my expectations are pretty high. Now lets look at the game: It looks like a mix of Borderlands with Resident Evil's 3rd person perspective. Could be good. I'll have to sign up for the beta. Defiance is set to premiere Monday, April 15, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. on the Syfy channel. Defiance the game will be released April 2013 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. For those of you that do not know, Syfy has teamed up with Trion Worlds to create something truly unique. It is called Defiance. Defiance is a TV series and it is also a MMO shooter game. Events that happen in the tv series will affect the game and events in the game will affect the tv series. First lets look at the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BJN2ssm8QgIt already has my interest.
