Every once in a while I'll come across free games for PC that look really good. Anyone can feel free to update this topic with limited time free game links so we can add them to our ever growing backlog of games. If a game states how long it will be free for, please list that along with the link. Sometimes it won't be stated so if you click a link and its no longer free, then that promo must have expired. I've seen alot of free game listings off slickdeals or other blogs. I'll update this when I see good ones. I would post the free games with Amazon Prime, but I don't currently have amazon prime so if those appeal to anyone, feel free to post them since Amazon Prime generally gives away a couple free games a month. To start off with: Little Nightmares is currently free with a Steam promotion until 05/30/2021 @ 10:00am (does not say if EDT, PDT, etc. ) https://store.steampowered.com/app/424840/Little_Nightmares/ Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault - Limited Free Promotional Package, free for this weekend or until 05/31/2021? It doesn't say exact day it ends. https://store.steampowered.com/sale/companyofheroessale

Steam has made its own hand held game console. It can be used as a handheld or docked to a tv like the Nintendo Switch. Honestly, this looks like a solid hand held. Everyone that does PC gaming has a steam account and most likely alot of games already in their library. There are three versions: $399, $529 & $649 depending on the internal storage. Its shipping December of 2021. https://www.steamdeck.com/en/?snr=1_4_4__118 The hardware looks great too: https://www.steamdeck.com/en/hardware

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW. I'm going to quote myself here from another topic: With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes. The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now. http://store.steampowered.com/ Am I the only one suffering from steam sale fatigue? Maybe its just me but ever since they changed the store to the design it is now nothing in the store appeals to me anymore. Its probably because of the massive influx of every game from every independent developer. Theres so many games on there that I never look at what new games came out anymore because in any given week 40+ new games were released and 250+ games are listed in their weekly sales. I stopped looking and only pay attention to humble bundle sales now. Even with the steam sale going on now I don't see any huge sale thats leaping out at me to take my money anymore. Sure I still have a backlog of games but there seems to be less and less new AAA or indie games that I'm interested in for PC. Unless its a game I want for console I hardly look at the steam store anymore even though I use steam on a daily basis.

I got my Steam Link in the mail today. Its a nice little device. But right off the bat I had an issue with it. Not with it per-say, but with Amazon. They shipped me a used Steam Link. wtf. All the stickers and tape were broken and somebody obviously returned it. The previous owner's name was Justin. Here is a link to my review: https://www.amazon.com/review/R2QCG7PY497FZQ/ref=cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv Anyway, the steam link does work amazingly good.. if connected with a LAN cable. Wifi would probably work a hell of a lot better if I upgraded my router to something that actually supports 802.11ac, mine only connects as fast as 802.11n. Because of this my steam link is practically unusable in my living room while connected over wifi. I actually own a 25 foot (might be 50 foot, its really long) ethernet cable so it was no big deal for me to drop a cable line down the flight of stairs from my PC to my living room to try it out. With a hard line connection like that the steam link works so good, its as if my PC is in the same room and connected to the tv with an hdmi cable. The steam link auto recognized my wireless xbox 360 pc controller. The wireless pc dongle stays powered on so whenever I want to boot up the steam link, I only have to hit the xbox button on my controller to turn it on. Once I get a new graphics card I'll be able to play my entire library of games on my TV in surround sound. Oh.. and it looks like I should be able to play all my origin games with it too. As long as the streaming connection is established with Steam, I can alt-tab out of steam and my TV is now broadcasting my desktop and any and all programs running. I should be able to open Origin and play every game just as if I was running it through steam. The steam link has 2 USB ports, so if I don't want to play a game with my controller, I can simply unhook it and connect a mouse and keyboard. Maybe one of these days I'll upgrade my router and see if this can actually stream over wifi correctly. If not, having to run a hard wire cable is a bit of an annoyance.

The Steam summer sale 2016 started about an hour ago: http://store.steampowered.com/ I was half expecting Mighty No. 9 to be on sale for 50% off only 2 days after release. There aren't any games I've been actively waiting to go on sale, but I might pick up that steam link for $35.

http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/aboutpaidcontent I'm not fully against this. But I am against the lack of oversight this will have. And the fact that Valve is taking a 75% cut instead of a %40 or less cut of the money being made. I think anyone who wants to be supported for their Game Mods might as well stick to Patreon.

How did everyone luck out with black friday deals? Amazon matched most of the sales I was keeping my eye on. I ended up getting a new PS4 controller for $40 (my current one has taken some heavy BF4 damage to the left thumbstick), Walking Dead Season 2 PS4 for $19.99 and Shadow of Mordor PS4 for $25. I'd have bought Wolfenstein The New Order also for $25, but I need to save some cash and with how often I play games (and the two games I just bought), by the time I go to play it I could get it cheaper used. I also need to hit the pet store later to buy some new dog beds for 50% off.

I loved this game when I was a teenager. Kings Quest, Hero's Quest, Space Quest, the old Leisure Suit Larry games.. Sierra made some great adventure games back in the day. This remake made by the original creator looks great. I don't think I'll be pre-ordering it myself tho. I still have the classic original somewhere that is unplayable on modern computers, but I'll definitely pick this up on a steam sale. I even have the novelization of this game in softback.

I've passed on buying bundles for a while now because with the backlog of games I have now, it seems almost pointless to buy any more games, even on sale. But I've always loved Square Enix RPGs such as Final Fantasy.. but this bundle is full of games from franchises I've never played. What do you guys think about this bundle? I might be interested in it depending on what games get added to it next Tuesday. https://www.humblebundle.com/

I tested two games tonight, Borderlands and The Walking Dead.. and Steam In-Home Streaming works. I was logged into my steam account on both machines at the same time. Once two systems are logged in at once, the Play and Install Game links change so there is a drop down for both options. You can select any game, click the drop down and choose to install or play / stream any game from either machine. So I picked Borderlands to try first and set it to stream from my new desktop. It loaded up fine but I had to change all the video settings because it has never been played on that PC before. I set everything to max graphics, something my laptop has not been able to do for this game, and started playing BL on my laptop in maxed settings. It worked flawlessly. I only played for a few minutes, but my laptop's fan didn't even kick on like it normally would for that game. It was definitely running off the other computer because I've tried these settings on my laptop before and it was unplayable do to how horribly laggy it became. But with the in-home streaming, it wasn't an issue at all. I seemed to have some issues with the Walking Dead. It lagged out on me once and a second time it kicked me from the game. But I think it was because the desktop was going into sleep mode. I'll have to test that again later. I'm now very interested in getting a Steam Machine.. but not some powerful one, no.. I want the lowest end steam machine that comes with a controller. As long as I can stream from my main desktop, I'll have no problem playing every game on my steam account and I won't be limited to what can only run on Steam OS. I wonder if some company will make a HDMI dongle steam machine made strictly for streaming from another computer over wifi. I'd buy it.

I know we started discussing this game in the PS+ topic.. I've put about 3 hours into the game so far. I like that the game is a bit challenging and so retro. It takes no advantage of the PS4's capabilities at all except for the reload sound effects from the controller's speaker. How far is everyone in it? I've made it up to the Steel Soldier mission and moments before I beat the guy, he stomped on me and finished off my third life. I completely see his pattern now so I doubt I'll have a hard time with him again. What weapon are you currently using? I'm really enjoying the Artillery Jager with the large magazine and long range barrel (I can't remember which one). The amount of bullets that gun spits out easily makes up for the lower damage it causes. But it definitely needs that barrel for long range. The short range default is ridiculously short range. I'm thinking about trying out that hand cannon to see how effective I would be with too. Have any of you tried the different ammo that causes element damage? And I'm going to get that BBQ knife when I have the materials for it, just because it is nick named the "BBQ knife".

I wanted to buy this game when I first saw a trailer for it. I thought it would be pretty damn funny to play.. but I held off on buying it, even when I saw it on sale, because I have too many games already. So.. turns out the Nerd reviewed the game himself a couple months ago and I never noticed: After watching his review I'm not even interested in the game now because it looks insanely difficult.

I've purchased bundles from Groupees before and they usually have a good collection of games. I've played about half of these games as a kid and I was surprised to see this bundle. Most of the games are redeemable on Desura or direct download only. Only Two Brothers and Pineapple Smash Crew are steam games. Its a build a bundle which means you can choose which games you want and the minimum increases with each choice. If you choose all the games the minimum is $4.92. Source: http://groupees.com/retro2/

I registered a Desura account and my username is: Sledgstone I've been meaning to do this for a while because I have some older groupees and humble bundles that have desura only games. Anyone else have a Desura account? Feel free to add me to your friends list.

Any Portal fans here? Me and my older brother have been playing Portal 2 co-op about once a week for the past month and we've been having a lot of fun with it. I decided to stream some gameplay this last weekend when we got to the last set of stages. I saved the videos if anyone wants to see some co-op fun and watch the co-op ending with my horrible graphics settings. http://www.twitch.tv/sledgstone/b/494434690 http://www.twitch.tv/sledgstone/b/494469639 After we beat it, we remembered there was a room with extra levels we couldn't access until we beat the game. These levels are noticeably more challenging and we've only beat a couple of them so far. When I first played Portal 2 I thought it was a good game.. but the co-op makes this a great game. Its like a sequel for a sequel. You could almost say Portal 2's Co-Op is actually Portal 3.

Valve has announced the first 13 Steam Machine designs that are now in production. The prices range from $499 to $6000 and are expected to release in 2014. Check the Kotaku link below for the full list of the different machines and prices. As for me, these prices seem much higher than what I was expecting. Source: Steam & Kotaku
