  4. At Sony's PS4 Launch event Bungie revealed that the beta for Destiny will be available for PS3 and PS4 first. As MS scores first access to DLC for COD and BF4 first, its apparent that Bungie is making a statement and MS cannot dish out enough cash for them to shy away from their new 3rd party territory in the PS4 user base.

    Destiny

. You have to wonder whats going on between Bungie and MS... This will be the second PS4 presser and Bungie will have shown up for both. Perhaps they didn't want to "compete" with Infinity Ward even though they are both under the Activision Brand. While I believe it will be on the Xbox One by association that it will be on the 360, I wonder if PS4 scored timed exclusive extras ala BF3 on PS3. Wonder if there is a bit more to when Bungie split from MS. This will be one of those rare, major triple A non-exclusives that will be on consoles and not on PC. That is also interesting.

  8. I got my hands on a PS4 and so far, I'm not overly impressed. lol. I really need to get my hands on a next gen game to see this system's full potential. Out of the box though, the system is smaller than my PS3 slim, it weighs less and the controller is noticeably more comfortable in my hands. As it is, it feels like an upgraded PS3. The share option seems nice. Once you hit the share button it will save the video footage of the game you are playing, plus the previous 15 minutes for editing and uploading. I haven't tried it yet though. The controller speaker caught me by surprise. It was noticeably loud.. it was as loud as basic tv speakers, which really surprised me. The controller also has a cool looking touchpad which is also a pushable button.. I was hoping I could have used that touchpad for easy swype typing, but it does not appear to have that functionality. There is no PS Home, but instead of interacting with people's avatars, the system lets me easily interact with real people via watching their game streams or shows. I have my PSN ID set to only show my username and it looks like many people are using that same option. I like that my PSN account is the same as my PS3, but when I view friends online I don't see how to distinguish if someone is online on their PS3 or PS4.. and when I was on PS3, I could not see any of my friends online if they were logged into their PS4s. It seems a bit odd that I could potentially send a friend a message and they'd only see me as offline. This system must be all about the games because there isn't many huge features that are must needs for me to justify the cost of the system. However, I need some next gen titles to take full advantage of what this console's hardware was built for. Once I experience some newer titles, I'm sure I'll be impressed. But aside from Battlefield 4, there really isn't that many games available. I'm looking forward to Destiny and Watchdogs, but with no other games drawing my attention right now, I'll probably put my extra spending cash into a BF4 premium upgrade to get all the DLC. For all the people out there struggling to get a hold of one of these systems right now, I highly suggest that if they do get the PS4 that they buy some next gen games to go with it and not rely on the free PS+ games to fulfill their gaming needs.
  9. Here is a video of Samsung's flexible screen tech from 2 years ago. Samsung, Sony and LG will all have flexible screens soon. This video was made before LG's flexible battery tech. Because there were no flexible batteries, there had to be a solid piece of the phone. Now the entire thing can be potentially flexible. With how thin the screens can be, it might only be a matter of time before we have tablets that are the size of a standard 12 inch ruler that have screens that can be pulled / rolled out into full size. Source: Dailymail The next interesting part is gesture control. All hands free control using ultrasound. Combine these two techs and we'll have the next gen cell phones, tablets, laptops, TVs of the future. Source: Bitrebels The flexible screen tech got me thinking.. they could make clothing out of those screens. Imagine a camouflage suit made out of this display technology. With the proper use of numerous mini cameras the screens could display your surroundings all over the suit and blend you completely into any location. Also, with screens that thin.. once they make them bigger and higher resolution, future TVs could be sold rolled up. Apply some double sided tape to your wall, unroll the tv and stick the screen in place. And with gesture control, we wouldn't need a camera built into the TV for smart app features.
  10. I think its interesting that PS4's exclusive content is actually timed exclusive for 6 months on blockbuster titles. I wonder if it will be released on X1 for free via patch, or will it be some $3 DLC.

  14. . Source: Kotaku I think Respawn is still thinking about how CoD plays by using a host system on individual player's systems. If a game is multiplayer and has AI, then that game would require a dedicated server (or a self hosted server like in CoD) for those AI to have the same interaction with everyone playing on that same server. Regardless if the game was for Xbox One, PS4 or PC, they would require a dedicated server system for their multiplayer gaming needs to provide the best quality and experience. It was announced a while back that Xbox One would have dedicated servers for all games and this is a very promising feature. It will ensure that games like Call of Duty will no longer have crappy, self hosted, laggy games. The fact that Xbox One will have these servers free to developers makes the possibility of more exclusives for the console more likely because of the less cost involved with servers. I'm guessing Respawn / EA has a deal with Microsoft to also provide the servers for their PC version. If this is the case, then Titanfall might not make a PS4 release any time soon. Of course Titanfall is being released by EA and they seem to have plenty of servers to spare, unless they're all going to be dedicated to BF4. Which is another interesting point. Will EA be using their own servers for the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4? Or will they use the Xbox's. I also wonder how quickly they can roll out updates on the Xbox cloud and if there are any restrictions they wouldn't have to deal with when running their own servers.
  15. http://kotaku.com/xbox-ones-free-dedicated-servers-should-improve-multip-1446495827 Good. For the price of xbox live, dedicated servers should be a standard for all games that require them. 20. It is still unconfirmed for now, but all indications point to a November 8th release date for the new Xbox One console. There are some marketing company images going around the internet showing November 8th as the release date. If its true, then the Xbox One will release a full week earlier than the PS4. After checking Xbox's official site, it appears that November is the confirmed month, but no exact date is mentioned. Sources: Kotaku | Microsoftstore.com

  22. According to an interview posted by IGN today, Microsoft has yet again flip flopped on another one of its stances. Previously, Xbox One required Kinect to be on at all times for the console to function. This is no longer the case according to Marc Whitten of Microsoft: One has to wonder if preorder numbers are the reasoning for this circus. Since June, Microsoft has taken off its DRM along with a slew of features, added some of the features back, overclocked the GPU, and now this. How does this effect developers? Especially ones that have coded their game confident that Kinect would be on at all times. This has to cause some headache, and its unclear if MS will ask them to make changes to their games near the end of development cycles. This definitely has the potential to get ugly after consoles launch. The first game that requires Kinect to play could cause the blame game between devs and MS. In the midst of walking back for irate gaming, its possible that Microsoft could also cause a strain on his developer relationships early on. 24. Sony's President Shuhei Yoshida went on twitter today and announced that you will not need a PS+ membership to be able to share and stream your gaming experiences. This comes in light of Microsoft stating yesterday that you will need an Xbox Live Gold account to use their gaming DVR. This is yet another blunder by MS after they decided to keep their 360 model which does not allow users to access Netflix without XBLG. The PS4 will still allow you to stream Netflix for free as it had on PS3. While you still need PS+ to stream and share your multiplayer gameplay, it still benefits those gamers that like to upload or search for walkthroughs for single player games, solo campaigns, and trophy guides.
